Spicy coconut soup was disgusting! Had mushy broccoli and 3 little measile thumb size pieces of chicken. Sushi was horrible tasted extremely fishy had me running to the bathroom 20 minutes after eating it, even the wasabi tasted like fish. My friend had the farts big time.

I gave 2 stars because I do love their sushirito. But thats it now. We have ordered delivery in the past and its been pretty good. Like I said its just the sushirito we liked. Everything else was just ok. On a Friday night, my husband and I went in to order take out. Yes, it was Friday and we were prepared to wait. Went in and there were about 3 tables filled and 3 at the bar. We ordered right away & a beer to share. After about 25 minutes all the customers but one had left. I went up to the waitress to see what was going on and she said«Oh we hadn’t started it yet»(we were the only ones there) The sushi chef was clueless & had no idea what we wanted. She refunded our money and we left(this was 9:00 and you know Petaluma its all closed). Although we love that sushirito we will never ever go back to Andy’s.

Everything we ate here was DELICIOUS. Off the charts delicious. We ordered delivery 2 days ago from them and liked it so much we decided we had to try it first hand tonight. We had curry udon, duck ramen, bbq park ramen, the hamachi carpaccio(omfg), lister meatballs, Tamago, a rainbow roll, caterpillar roll, pork buns, sushi sandwich, Korean bbq beef and I can honestly recommend every single thing. 5 paws. Good job! Will return again.

I went in there as I was passing by the sidewalk. My gut instinct was not to try a sushi place that is dead empty at 6:30pm. I went in anyway. Honestly it was a big mistake. The two sushi chefs/cooks/owners were there and were very friendly to me. I honestly feel bad writing this review because they were so nice. I ordered some udon soup that had coconut milk in it and spicy. The broth was pretty good but not the best. The main problem with the soup was that the shrimp on the bottom of the soup had an off taste. I would never say that unless it was true either. I eat all kinds of different foods and have a very strong stomach. So I left all 3 shrimp in the bowl and didn’t finish the rest. Next I ordered two orders of nigiri sushi. I ordered scallops and an order of salmon roe with a cracked quail egg on top. They asked me if I wanted my scallop all chopped up and mixed with spicy sauce or just regular. That right there draws a red flag in my book also. Anyway, I could tell there was on off smell to the scallop as in came over the sushi bar. I had both of them around me as I ate it. Immediately my brain triggered me to spit it out. It was bad. I eat these things everywhere I go and I know these were no right. I couldn’t swallow my own spit for the next half hour because of the taste and thought in my mouth. Those of you that eat sushi know, it is no place for freshness that’s questionable. I’m sure you all have had it happen at least once. It was enough for me to have to write this bad review because I walked away with a BADTASTEINMYMOUTH. The guys in the place were nice and friendly but the freshness of the food was not good at all inn my book.

I have been wanting to try this place and so today I went in for lunch with my family. Very unassuming décor, which will hopefully deter the nouveau yuppie population of Petaluma. The staff were all friendly and efficient, if somewhat relaxed as it was Saturday afternoon around 1:00. We had the seaweed salad and shrimp shumai for appetizers. Both were fresh and delicious! I had the Curry Ramen which was fantastic! My daughter had the Miso Ramen which was clean and subtly flavourful! My son had the Teriyaki Chicken bento which included miso, a small salad, a California roll and rice. We also shared a pickled veg roll which was superb! Every item we had was really tasty and I am so glad that there is a spot to get ramen in P town! I am looking forward to trying some of the other great sounding items on the menu!

THis is not a favorite. We came and sat at the sushi bar and ordered dinner. The uni was NOT fresh, it was awful. The other rolls we ordered were meh.(spicy tuna, and a mixed fish roll) What was good was the soup, and the Kim-Chi. although I’m not sure I would come back just for either, when there are plenty of other restaurants that do soup and Kim-Chi just as well, with other things I would want to order as well. Dining room was empty, the server disappeared after bringing us water, and left us in the hands of the sushi chef which was fine, although she had the bill and it took forever for us to get it when it was time to leave. Sorry, not a fan.

I usually have great luck with restaurants. This was not one of these times. Waitress was tweaking and did not know what was going on. The Vietnamese coffee tasted like it was from the bowling alley. Every roll looked like it was put together by a 4 year old. I mean I’ve never seen anything like it. You didn’t even have to smell or taste the fish to know it was bad. All the fish look really not fresh and had a gray tint. They forgot half the order. The salmon roe was GUMMY. Btw my average reviews are 4 and 5 stars. I’ve never had such a bad experience at a restaurant. Avoid at all costs. w

I’ve been a fan of Andy’s work for over 15 years, since he was a sushi chef at a Japanese restaurant in town, so I was thrilled when I heard he was opening his own place a few years back. Been going to Andy’s Kitchen & Sushi Bar ever since because I love the food! Consistently delicious and artistic with dishes I can’t find anywhere else. Faves include the BBQ squid, Grinch roll, 3 Stooges roll, Tuna Poki, Linda’s roll, 49er roll, Candy Cane roll… I could go on — wonderful cooked dishes, too. Just had a feast of takeout this weekend to celebrate a birthday with my family — wonderful as always! Have since turned various family and friends onto this gem in Petaluma with everyone becoming fans. Interior is no frills — you go there for the food and the friendly service.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is horrible, and this is coming from someone who has been there several times. I don’t know why I go back, each time is worse than the last. If you want diarrhea go here. The rolls we ordered seemed higher end, as they were 14 – 17 dollars each and it was not worth it. The fish even smelled and even tasted not fresh. The place is so dingy and dirty looking when you walk it that you immediately want to walk out. The miso is fishy and overly salty, the salad is thrown together and the drinks are disgusting. Even the waitresses are horrible. We sat at our table for a good 10 minutes with our rolls on the table before she came over and we were able to ask her for chop sticks and plates. When we asked which roll was which she had no idea. She was slow, inattentive and idiotic. Do not go here. It’s disgusting. Do yourself a favor and get sushi at another place.

Upon entering I immediately wanted to run away but I went against my better judgement and ordered sushi to go. Why did I want to run? First of all the smell of old oil hit me right when I arrived. I scanned the room and it just looked kind of dingy. I was happy to see that they offered half rolls. I love this idea because you get a chance to try two but not stuff yourself. When I paid for my order I was annoyed with myself for choosing something so expensive for lunch. I had high hopes that it would be worth my money. As soon as I left I took a peak inside the to go container. What I found inside was a disappointment. For just over $ 17 it was a luxury price for something that looked like it was from the sushi counter at grocery outlet. Well maybe it will taste amazing I thought to myself. No. Not amazing. It tasted old. Gross. I didn’t finish it. I threw half away.

Although our food tasted pretty good, I would never eat here again. The tables are covered with a layer of sticky grime, and even though we arrived for lunch at 12:00, the waitress’ apron was appallingly filthy dirty(they had only been open ½ hour). Does she not get a fresh apron every day? It was so disgusting, it took away my appetite. Also, I wasn’t served my food for a good 15 minutes after my friend’s arrived. Isn’t the purpose of having lunch together to actually get to eat at the same time?

I am staying in a local hotel and placed an order for delivery, the expected delivery time was 45 – 60 minutes. After 1 ½ hours I called to check on the status of my food — all the information I received was that it was«out for delivery». It took another ½ hour to arrive(2 hours total). When I finally opened the bag, items I ordered and paid for were missing and the food I did receive was cold and the drinks warm. I have never been to the restaurant, but I will not be placing any orders in the future.

Bento boxes items I tried: Sashimi –Decent. Not the freshest, but good for a quick bite. Chicken teriyaki –Chicken was dry as cardboard, but in small enough chunks that sauce covered it up. Mix tempura –Surprisingly good. Decent amount of veggies and a piece of shrimp. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Andy’s was pretty much empty. We were seated next to the window on a very sunny day, which meant the curtains did little to help block the sun. The food was on par with a typical American Japanese restaurant trying to make meals fit most budgets. Our bento boxes were $ 10 and $ 12. They came with miso soup(extremely salty), salad(too much dressing), and rice(kinda tasted like it was a few hours old). Nothing about the food was outstanding, both in a good and a bad way. There’s some trippy paintings hanging on the walls, which made me wonder if the place turns into some sort of hip or trendy club in the evenings.

Food: All of the specialty rolls were good. The fish was fresh and the portions were good. Ordered two kinds of sashimi– Hamachi and Escolar. The Hamachi was nice, but the escolar had been heated up mostly to defrost it. I’ve never had WARM sashimi before. Ambiance: We were seated next to the window and the curtains had obviously never been washed because their scent of mildew and filth was overwhelming to the point that we moved to the bar. At the bar, the food network was playing on mute. Interestingly enough there was a show on the whole time that was all about revamping failing restaurants. Service: The people who worked there that I saw were all working really hard. I believe the reason that it took over half an hour to get our first roll was because they were understaffed. I think it took over half an hour after we ordered the sashimi to get it because they had to defrost the fish. Overall Experience: I will definitely not go back. The best part of dinner was the company.

Mixed feelings about this place… dirty. High chair was really old(never saw one of those before) spoon for the miso soup felt gunky(didn’t use it, wasn’t legit) Yet surprisingly, silverware aside the food was pretty good. The server was really nice! Gave her a pretty good tip. Sushi seeems a bit overpriced… $ 17 for the carburetor… i can go to Paradise all-you-can-eat for the same price.

The only time I went here was when it first opened. I was excited because I like the chef and thought that it would be good. The place is cold and uninviting, the walls are plain white and it just feels damp. It wasn’t very full when we went in so I was extremely upset at how slow the service was. The staff didn’t even acknowledge us when we walked in and we had to flag someone down to bring us menus and water even though there was almost no one there. The staff seemed annoyed that there were customers there and didn’t offer to refill water until we asked them to. I’m a huge sushi lover but I just wasn’t impressed with any of the rolls. The menu seemed plain and basic. I guess I could’ve ordered off menu if I wanted something exciting but why should I have to? The food took forever to come out even though all we ordered was rolls and nothing cooked. I was not impressed at all. That was the only time I ever went there and I have no intention of doing so again.

More like 2.5 stars. The girls there were awfully nice and very apologetic which is why I gave this place 3 stars. My bf and went in not really expecting much. They had very unusual, unique rolls which all sounded really good until we really tried it. –Peking duck roll: too sweet with the hosin sauce on top and the duck was dry. –Cranberry Turkey roll: meh, but the cranberry sauce was ok. –Scallop Wrapped Prosciutto was the best dish. I do recommend it –A’s roll: my bf’s favorite out of all the rolls we order. –Warrior roll was I guess what I enjoyed out of all the rolls, natural sweetness from the mango went well with the curry. Even the two waitresses were super nice, service was so slow. It was just us and another table who was half done with their meal when we entered. The waitress or sushi chef forgot to make or put in one of our order(not sure who messed up) some how took 40+ mins to make half of a roll! Even though we were pretty annoyed, their dessert menu was what initially attracted us to this place so we stayed for dessert. –green tea cheesecake: Eh… –tempura green tea ice cream: the ice cream was gritty not the best but the fried bananas were ok. My bf and I can both agreed that the whip cream was the best part. Lol Even though the girls were nice and very apologetic, poor service lack of attentiveness couldn’t be over looked when we were basically the only customers in.

Restaurant Week 2014($ 29/pp dinner) I, unlike some people I know(you know who you are), have no problem eating one food a bunch of times. Usually my palate will get fixated on something, and for a period, I can’t get enough of it. One time, all I could possibly think about was Cheesecake. Another time, I was salivating regularly over Piadines. I’m always craving really fresh, ridiculously bad for you Doughnuts. The day I met up with Andy’s, I was on a Japanese fix, and boy, did they hit the spot. My family has a long history with Japanese food. I grew up eating culturally diverse food, but usually slightly Americanized. Neither of my parents care much for raw fish, so I actually didn’t have my first Nigiri until I was 19. To this day, they all steer clear of most of the raw and spicy, to which I dive headfirst into with delight. Andy’s is tucked far away from the hubbub of Petaluma downtown, just around the corner from the market and the parking garage. It’s not much to look at, inside or outside, but do not let that fool you. This is the reason why Restaurant Week is so exciting and enticing! It gives you the impetus to go and try where you would not have thought to go or try. We called and made a reservation for dinner, but when we arrived, there were only two other tables filled. Our waitress was bubbly and energetic, and had something to say about every single thing we mentioned, and everything we ordered. There was some confusion about exactly how many pieces were in each order, but she was quick to confirm with the chef on anything she didn’t know the answer to, instead of guessing, which I was happy about. To start, I tried an organic sake($ 10 surcharge to the $ 29/per person Pre Fix menu), that was fresh, sweet, and light. I was super pleased with this sake, and will be looking for it specifically next time I am in the Sake mood. Everyone had miso, and then the appetizers came out. The Hamachi was fresh, lightly drizzled, and had a firm, bright texture. The Ahi Poke was a little on the chewy side, but well-seasoned, and topped with deliciously fresh green onions. The crab salad came with rave reviews, and was over crisp cucumbers. For dinner, there was the Dragon roll, generously topped with multi-coloured tobiko, but nothing too exciting, pretty standard. Both my parents ordered the Surf and Turf, which was veggies and mushrooms rolled with beef, and honey walnut prawns. I thought that the beef was overly sweet, but otherwise good, and everyone remarked that the prawns had shells in them still, which was unappealing. Also the ratio of prawn to breading/coating was close to 1⁄3 which is ridiculous to me, but some people like it that way. The winner of the dinners was mine, which was the Chirashi, and it was flawless… eight different selections of fish, between two and four slices of each, topped with Japanese pickles, and multi-colour tobiko. Beautiful and delicious. Dessert continued the positive trend, we sampled the Pecan Pie, which was the unanimous winner, the home made Lemon Meringue pie, which was light and fluffy, and the Mango Cheesecake, which was delicate, and tropical. I am interested in coming back to try the sushi, the Nabeyaki Udon, and I was thrilled upon my departure to notice that they serve Japanese Curry! Wonderful news!
