Circus City Grill

I’ve eaten here many times for lunch and supper. The food has always been good and the staff has always been very kind. The Apple cinnamon cheesecake is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. The only bad meal I’ve had here was the tenderloin. It was way too thick a d the breading fell off as I was trying to eat it. It just wasn’t as good a tenderloin sandwich as I’ve has elsewhere. The prices are a little high, but you do get large helpings. What bothers me most is that I just read in the Peru Tribune last week where this restaurant was hit with 16 violations from the health department. Some of these violations were related to poor upkeep of the building which is the building’s owners responsibility — and guess who owns this building?! Same guy who owns the Knights Inn located directly behind the restaurant. See my other review on the Knights Inn and you’ll get the picture. I hope the people who own and run the restaurant can get things fixed up. I would like to go back for some more of that delicious cheesecake!

My mom & I went to the C.C. Grill on Thanksgiving Day for lunch. She had made a reservation, which turned out to be an unnecessary precaution; they had a table open before we announced ourselves.
We each had the ham dinner, which was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The décor is comfortable and inviting. This is a nice little restaurant for Peru and certainly a welcome oasis for travelers along U.S. 31. I will go back!

Tried it again. Nothing changed. Potential is there… what’s wrong with this place?!

Food is pretty good most of the time. At times when it is busy, it can get difficult to hear each other talk. A couple of times, our food has taken quite a while to come and we have left. Once our food actually took 45 mins to come and we had to get on the road in 5 mins. Needless to say, we left. We are a frequent customer there and we do let it be known when they have their good days and bad days. Most of the servers there are very nice with great personalities. The manager is questionable as we have seen some horrible attitude from him.
If you order any of the breakfast skillet, it’s recommended you order a cup of gravy with it to top it. :)

I had breakfast here with my sister. The server had the nicest smile and was friendly. I ordered a simple breakfast of egss, toast, sausage and hashbrowns. Everything was cooked perfect. Items can out quick. Servers were quick with the coffee.
The place was well lighted and very clean. There was a manager onsite. Everyone very professional. It was filling up when we left… so, I assume they get slammed with a church crowd.
It was a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting anything this good from the area but I learned better this morning.
