This place is awesome! It is decorated like an open floor plan log home with a full bar. The food is cheap, delicious and portions are huge. Get the pot roast dinner. You get about a pound of prime rib roast, a veggie, potato, and a slice of grilled Texas Toast. It’s awesome.

Great service and good food! Had the special — County Fried Steak! Might just be the best I have had! My buddy had the ribs and they were great too! Nice and meaty. I also had the homemade soup. Cheesesteak Soup. It was delishous. Nice selection of beer. Only disappointment was my green beans we’re canned beans… or maybe just overcooked. We were there pretty late though. They were fine… just mushier than I like. I would definitely go back and recommend this place!

Great sandwich. Smart waitress. Cheap road beer. Our waitress was very attentive and funny. My Reuben was outstanding. The sunset was funny.

First time there. Nice little bar/restaurant — very reasonable and COLD beer. Food wasn’t spectacular, but we weren’t anticipating it to be, but it was quite good. We will definitely be going back.

I’m surprised by how much I enjoy the food at this place. The pork tenderloin is great. There’s a rather large bar as well. If you’re wanting a quick meal though this is not the place. The service is usually very slow but I guess if you have the time. order a beer and relax.

It’s a basic bar with a dining area that is nicely seperated. The food I loved! We had the homemade mushrooms(excellent), the fried monte cristo sandwich(greasy but excellent) and the homemade tenderloin(EXCELLENT!). Other than a bit of a stomach ache from the over abundance of fried food which was our own fault I was in love with this place and am absolutely ready to go back! STOPIN! Also, staff is super friendly and it appears pretty clean in there.

Best Tenderloins in town! Homemade and huge! Garlic breaded wings are also delicious along with ANY of their burgers. Very reasonably priced and great portions.

Walked in here on a whim. We started with the AMAZING onion rings, tortellini soup, and loaded backed potato soup. All amazing … The entrees ordered were a cheese burger and the monte cristo. We can honestly say that the food was perfectly made, tasted really super good. And the service is über friendly. The gambling machines are off the corner, hidden, updated since the posted pictures. Def a gem. And we shall return …

I’ve tried several menu items … all delicious. Environment is casual, comfortable and affordable, which I appreciate. Drinks are good. Service is pleasant. Gambling machines are a distraction, but placed far enough out of the way. Overall, highly recommended.

We were driving through on I-80 and saw the Unilocal reviews and gave it a try. Glad we did. Classic pub /lodge setting. Good food and good service. Really liked their chili.

Right off of I-80 and few miles from 39 this was a perfect halfway stop for us on a trip home. Sunday night $ 2 Bloody Mary’s were decent not the best I had but for $ 2 who would complain? On a Sunday night it was somewhat busy. Football fans and hockey fans both. Had multiple specials but fried chicken was on Jeff’s mind and he changed my mind as well. Half chicken with potato and carrots for $ 8. I got dark and him white. So crispy and pieces were HUGE. The breading was perfect not too much and didn’t fall apart. Served straight out of the fryer lava hot. Our total bill with three drinks each was $ 30.

Grew up in the Illinois Valley area, moved away, but migrate back semi-annually to visit family. When I do, I’m ALWAYS game to try new places that have cropped up since I last visited, and new places aren’t always easy to find! So, I was excited to hear from my dear ol’ mom that there was a new-ish place along the section of 251 that in my childhood memories is nothing but cornfields. Fairly unassuming building with a faux-log façade, plenty of parking. When you get inside, it’s spacious and charming. A northwoods motif, lots of trophies and outdoorsy tchotchkes hung about… also a sweet freestanding fireplace that I bet makes things really cozy in the cold months. The servers were sweet, the food was really tasty and reasonably priced. I had a fried pork tenderloin sandwich that tasted hand-breaded, not like a pre-formed, frozen patty. Large, with a garlicky, crunchy breading, generous portions, and for dessert, yummy bananas foster bites with caramel sauce and whipped cream. I will definitely put this place on my must-visit places to get a quality sandwich when I’m visiting home. Looks like a fun place to grab a beer, as well, with a big, circular bar and high-top tables outside the dining area.
