Ahh the Flat. Every town should have a bar like this. I am so thankful that I have been introduced to this place as it is quickly becoming one of my favorite bars in the area. Forget fancy martinis and craft beer. You aren’t getting it here. This is the kind of place where you come for a burger and a cold beer. Speaking of burgers, this is among the best you will ever have. Don’t believe me? Order the Lumberjack and then come talk to me. If we weren’t friends before, we are now. If you’re lucky enough to come in on a night that Liz is working, you are in luck as she is one of the best bartenders that I have ever had. I swear she has eyes in the back of her head and knows as soon as you have an empty glass. This is as local as a local bar can get, meaning it can be packed or dead depending on when you visit as a lot of people stop by when their shifts end. Not a bad place to unwind. Come for the burger, order a green tea shot or two, play some tunes on the jukebox and get to know the guys and girls on both sides of the bar. I can guarantee it will be a fun night out.

As a dive bar connoisseur my never ending quest to achieve dive nirvana continues. Today depositing me smack dab in the middle of Perth Amboy. Brewbaker on my mind and taste buds & good olé Unilocal quenched my dive thirst. To make my acceptable dive list affordability or in other words cheap must be the moniker. $ 3 cold domestic drafts, Cha ching! A half oval long 15 seat bar awaits your rump. 7 drafts choices on tap, yes it’s always all about the draft which must be frost bite or go home to mommy. Cha Ching! Now one must fill thee gullet to maintain certain levels of of nutritional gluttony whilst pounding additional mass quantities of the nectar of draft gods. Nothing on the menu is over $ 8 other than Alaskans at $ 23& shrimp cocktail(12 large) @ $ 11OMG! From our meer sampling of pork roll, cocktail, Turkey club &BLT it all rocked. Friendly service and clean. Pool table in the back. I will be back to consider a rating raise. So perhaps not the dive Garden of Eden, but worthy of an add to your mid day or evening or late night crawl, baby.

A great find! This was a bright, friendly bar, and when I say friendly I am talking really friendly bartenders who were on us in a second and a seemingly nice group of customers. There is a pool table in the back and some additional seating. We ordered food and some beers. I got a towering BLT and the husband got chicken fingers. Both were around $ 7 and terrific, both in taste and quantity of food. This is another place for the rotation, see ya soon Flat Iron!

It had been years since I walked through the doors of the Flat Iron. I used to live in Perth Amboy and we would come here. Not often, but enough that I developed a deep like for this place. I met a friend and former roommate here who still lives in town. We came over just to have a few beers, but I was very tempted to get a burger. From what I remember they are greasy and good here, but I decided against it. The beers are pretty inexpensive here. The place was actually pretty packed for a Tuesday night as there was a large group here for a birthday. They seemed to be pretty rowdy. Aside from that I imagine most of the rest of the people here were locals. It is that kind of bar.

One of the few bars I go to in my hometown. Good food at relatively cheap prices, so I have no complaint there. Also a very good selection of bottled beer. Some good draughts, too, but if you’re a beer aficionado then you’ll want to check out the bottle selection. Can get a little crowded in the bar area, as the building is on an island and shrinks into a triangle. Jukebox is decent, stay away from the pool table. A good bar, nonetheless.

The Flat Iron is a great place for strong drinks at a very reasonable price when you want to have fun but not spend hours worrying about what to wear. It has a very old school feel in a good way. This place is full of locals and regulars, with a very Cheers feel to it. If you come often enough, everyone WILL know your name. Very laid back, friendly patrons and bartenders and delicious fried foods of all varieties. I recommend the waffle fries or the broccoli cheese poppers.

«You want all that shit to come out at once?» A real Flat Iron building with a real mix of people and sometimes, real rawdy bartenders. Game room in the back, good jukebox and good food. Very enjoyable. The jalapeño poppers were really good and my friend had delicious buffalo wings. I hear the thing to try is the steamed shrimp, they looked great. They are known for their burgers, the Lumberjack, with 3 slices of pork roll, was delicious, served with seasoned waffle fries, a tart macaroni salad and extra pickles.
