Last night while staying at La Quinta I ordered from Pizza Huts new pizza menu. The pizza I chose was Pretzel Pig. This has the pretzel crust with bacon, cheese, spinach and a balsamic reduction swirl. There are a few positives which follow. The delivery time was fast. Price was good. I liked the crust and after l got used to the balsamic reduction I think it was fairly tasty. And thats about it. The drawbacks to this pizza are maybe things that could be expected when introducing a totally new menu. *Or could be a result of a spastic reaction by pizza hut to come up with something different… and a CEO who spends too much time watching cooking shows. There was supposed to be a Pig part in the name pretzel pig. I found very little bacon on this pizza. What was there was tasty. The base sauce was so bad that l honestly couldn’t decide what it was supposed to be. Goop is what l decided to call it. Had no flavor and was totally overwhelmed by the ridiculous amount of balsamic reduction that was all over the place. Finally, who decided that throwing uncooked spinach leaves on top was going to make this more edible? The spinach was completely flavorless and wilted. Trying to take a slice involved picking leaves and arranging them as you go. I had 2 pieces and shut down for awhile. Went back later and had 1 more. Then tossed the rest. It also appears they eliminated the Taco pizza to put this Pig on the menu. Dumb move. That’s my favorite when I’m having some beers and get hungry. I grew up on Pizza Hut so this isn’t a deal breaker for me, it is however a pretty bad pizza that l hope doesn’t represent the quality of the new menu. Next time l try one of the new pies, I’ll be getting it in a hut so I can see if there is an improvement over delivery.

We ordered stuffed crust pizza and salad bar. Got our drinks quickly and salad bar was small but OK. Never took my coat off because it was so cold in there. 3 – 4 employees yelling back and forth to each other — not work related was kind of annoying. Pizza tasted like soap– possibly from the fake wooden serving plate? Doubt we will ever go back.

This is ok. Nothing bad or fantastic. I used to eat here when I was in High School and tried it when I moved back to town after years away. Buffet for lunch is fine. Nothing outstanding. A fair deal. I think a higher quality pizza can be found close by at Vitos.

Stopped in again today and shared one of the $ 10 larges along with some breadsticks we got free with a coupon. We then split a personal pan cherry dessert pizza. As usual, everything was fresh, piping hot, and delicious. The breadsticks were perfectly cooked, slightly crispy outsides with tender insides. The dessert pizza also is an old favorite, and the server said she worked to make it extra pretty. It was very cute. And tasty. Service was great. Coffee was fresh brewed, which made it better than normal.(usually it really isn’t very good, but being fresh, it wasn’t as mud\acid flavored as it can be). The place was very quiet this time, with one other couple in the restaurant partaking of the salad bar, so the single server was not a problem like the last time. The seats could stand to be repadded — be careful when you sit as it’s not as cushy as it looks. The table also was a bit wet. However, everything was clean, and we were able to get fresh plates and silverware with the dessert pizza which was good. Definitely will be back in at some point for a little indulgence.
