This is a great pick-your-own farm offering 20 varieties of apples, along with blackberries, raspberries, peaches and plums. They’ll give you a bag and let you wander their farm. They also have a pumpkin patch, hay rides and a country store serving up hot cider donuts and mulled cider. The hot cider donuts come in mini form, a dozen for $ 3.69. They were delicious! The hot mulled cider was nice too. It’s a $ 1.50 for a cup. The pumpkin patch a was a little disappointing. There weren’t very many pumpkins and based on their website, we were under the impression it would be «pick-your-own,» but it was just a normal pumpkin patch. I’m not even sure if the pumpkin were grown there. I saw no remnants of a former pumpkin patch. They do give you a cute little red wagon to take out to the field to pick out your own already-been-picked pumpkins. This farm was cute and made for a great autumn day out!

Never been to the actual farm, but I go to the farmer’s market stand in Dewey Square religiously on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They always have the biggest selection of gorgeous produce, and the people working the stand are so friendly and eager to help. I always chat with one of the guys that’s been running the stand for years now. he recommends new veggies that I’ve never even heard of and shares some great cooking tips(carrot top pesto, anyone?) I have never been a fan of tomatoes but last year I remember seeing their ridiculous heirloom selection and I just HAD to try one. I’ve been buying tomatoes by the armful ever since!

I hate tomatoes, always have. But then, I’d never had one of theirs. Nice! PYO raspberries, $ 3 a pint. Incredible deal. What’s unique about this farm stand? I’ve yet to pick up something there and get home to find it was a junky half ripe import. 7⁄2014 update– what is going on!!! Farmstands may not want ripe peaches that get damaged but we don’t visit farmstands to get unripened peaches. We can get that junk at any grocery store. :(

Once upon a time, I was eating the most delicious peach to ever grace my mouth and suddenly, the ground began to shake. A genie appeared in front of me, but I was super focused on this amazing peach from Kimball Fruit Farm. Genie: THREEWISHESFORYOU! What do you desire?!? Me: You seem to be interrupting my peach. Genie: I can give you anything you want! Me: Can you make this perfect peach regenerate to always be delicious and whole? Genie: That’s the all you want? Me: Well, I guess you can also give me everlasting summer with Kimball’s brandywine heirloom tomatoes, giant bunches of basil and fresh sweet corn whenever I please. Genie: … Ok, I may have imagined a world where summer fruits are at my disposal all the time, but Kimball Fruit Farm is the ultimate embodiment of everyone’s favorite eating season. For just a couple bucks more for what I’d pay at the grocery store, I get the tastiest produce and an added bonus of supporting my local food supply. Besides, the sheer beauty and bounty of the crops they grow is overwhelming in the best possible way. While summer may not last forever, I’ve preserved Kimball’s offerings into jams, marinara, pickles, and more so I can still bask in the delicious summer abundance Kimball has provided, genie or no genie.

From NH, I make the trek to this smaller/hidden gem. THE best heirloom selection(and dont let anyone tell you different) and the peaches and apples are the best. Good tomato crop last year, and they seemed to have it cornered. Where I noticed a Hollis competitor was selling some really old produce as fresh, this place never disappoints.

My favorite farm stand in the area. In season there is a wide selection of their own home grown fruits and vegetables. Their heirloom tomatoes are great. I grow my own and check out some of the other farm stands but when I want something something special I make the drive out to Kimball.

Great place to pick apples during the fall — especially if you want to avoid the crowds. This is a great place to stop for fresh fruit and vegetables as well.

cool local farm stand, can’t say I pick up a lot of veggies here but their apples are delish. Lots of varieties to pick from, you can run in for a bag or pick your own which is fun too. Huge pumpkin selection during the fall.

Love this place! They show up at local farmer’s markets in the Summer, which is how I got to know about them. Incredible varieties of apples. Sheep-lip, anyone? I’m an apple maniac– finding a place that lets me sample new varieties is perfect! Good prices for pick your own, by the way. I think these are the same Kimball’s that are famous for their ice cream. My only complaint is that their parking lot is really rutted, and gravel. When I ride out there in the summer, I’m forever worried about dumping my motorcycle.
