How can it be not even 6pm, empty tables abound but a 45 minute wait for a walk in table for two? They don’t take reservations but you can phone ahead to be put in line. We will spend our money some place else. This is usually a favorite of ours. When attitude meets the market place, the market moves. Maybe next time they’ll value our business.

If you are looking for Luke warm scallops with slow service and overpriced drinks then you have found the place. The waitress was almost too smiley and friendly, which was helpful considering the seafood was not quite as good as Long John Silvers. The rolls are hot and fresh and things went downhill after that. The yellow bug lights are enhanced by the flicker of the ceiling fan sending any sensitive people into a partial seizure by the end of a tasteless cold meal.

Great service, really well prepared food! A little pricier than we expected, but overall good. We’ll be back!

I had a great food here. We went late in last min no server complained about being so late or serving use dinner. They didn’t hurry anything. And food was excellent. I can give 5⁄5 for this restaurant. Food, serving, ambience everything is excellent. Really good place for a perfect dinner date.

We had dinner reservations for 8, including 2 infants. We actually were seated before our reservation! They did not have any high chairs for the infants available however, a staff member did bring them later in the meal(which was awesome!!). We did get appetizers, we got the Crab Turnovers and the Calamari. The Crab Turnovers were seriously PHENOMENAL. Sadly, you only get *2* buttttttt you can add additional turnovers! The Thai sauce served with the Calamari was amazing! Everyone at our table got a different entrée, my husband got the salmon that was the special for the evening, I, blackened Grouper, his sister the Hoisin Mahi, her man got the cashew crusted tilapia, my father in law got the Thai Sea Bass, and his wife got the pistachio crusted Sea Bass. Allllll of our entrees were cooked PERFECTLY and were great! We will certainly return and *MAKESURETOMAKERESERVATIONS!!!*

This place is synonymous with OLD — older clientele, older décor, old credit card machine & register, etc. Not recommended for younger folks(under 40) as you may feel out of place. The food is OK, but we won’t be returning to try anything else on the menu.

My husband and I had dinner reservations for 6:15 and were seated by 6:35. I loved the décor and atmosphere. It made me feel reminiscent of dining out with my grandparents. The house was packed with many white-headed patrons. This is generally a good sign ;) We ordered an appetizer of fried gator. It was not impressive. The pieces of gator were small and there was more breading than meat. The serving size reminded me of an order of fried clams. It was served with a marina sauce and a Thai sauce. I preferred the Thai and my husband said he would’ve been happy with a cocktail sauce. They also brought out our rolls. The rolls were good. Then came our lobster bisque and oyster stew. Both were to die for and the soups were exactly what the rolls needed. I would have been satisfied right there. The bisque had beautiful chunks of lobster and blue crab, it was the best I’ve ever had. The oyster stew was heavenly and forget the butter served with the rolls they must be dunked in this buttery concoction. Our main entrees consisted of lobster tail and filet, and Hawaiian big eyed tuna. Everything was cooked perfectly. The lobster tail was large and delicious. The steak was ordered medium-rare and was spot on with a wonderful grilled flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were wonderful but we hardly ate them for lack of room! The tuna steak was the star at this meal. It was cooked just seared and completely raw and served with fresh ginger and a Wasabi sauce. It was huge but we ate every last bite. The Fish House has the best seafood in central Illinois. I cannot wait to return because there are several items I want to try.

The previous reviews were correct regarding lighting; it is a bite dark inside. The service appears to depend upon the waiter or waitress assigned to your table; our waitress was just OK. Heard other waiters working the same area who were much better at serving their tables. The food portion is large; my husband I split an appetizer and a seafood plater. We walk out more the full. Overall we enjoyed the restaurant and if we’re back in the area we would return.

Smells like dirty, wet Depends inside. Lots of seniors though. Maybe that was it. Very dark thoughout too. That orange lighting makes it easy to fool the eyes when looking at a steak temp that is overcooked. I paid $ 70 for a dinner for two and you’re going to serve us INSTANT mashed potatoes and au gratin potatoes from a BOX? No seasoning on the filet mignon either, even though my wife asked for extra seasoning. My charbroiled Chilean Sea Bass was completely flavorless and I wouldn’t be surprised if it came frozen just like the cute little onion rings you top your filet mignon with. I’m no food snob. I work hard at two jobs for my money and hate wasting it. I think a $ 27 fish entrée should be absolutely amazing; this was not even the least bit appetizing. Never again.

Gave it 3 stars because the food on this visit was very good, and past service experiences have been good. Tonight the service was very lacking. Had my dinner at the bar, and despite there only being 4 other customers in the bar/lounge, service was slow and not a very pleasant experience. The bartender needs a serious refresher course on customer service.

Pam C. Is correct… it is dark but for a romantic evening I like it that way. Love the Neptune Platter. Give it a try…

This place has never left us unsatisfied. First of GREATFOOD !! Secondly the service is designed to spoil the customer and make them feel very very special. We love their specials, crab cakes and the stuffed salmon. They offer wide variety of drinks, the portions are large and food is very flavorful. Please don’t judge the place from the way it looks on the outside; it is warm, cozy and welcoming from the inside. A must try !

The Great: Lobster Bisque Shrimp cocktail… loved their cocktail sauce, perfect balance with the horseradish. Dinner rolls The Good: Caesar Salad Asparagus Chilean Sea Bass with Thai Chili sauce. I didn’t love the atmosphere. Like a few other reviewers mentioned it’s a very dark interior with minimal lighting. Just felt very dated. IMO They charge a $ 5 fee to share and entrée, which was fine with us.

Dark place to eat your food that is good but not fantastic or amazing. Now consider value and now it is expensive for what you get

Good seafood in Peoria. They talk up the au gratin potatoes, but I thought they were too rich — almost sickening. Plan on waiting, as they don’t take reservations. Wait staff is pleasant and go out of their way to please the patrons. Little bit overpriced, but there are limited choices for really good seafood here.

Great place for seafood in Peoria. I was really surprised. The clam chowder was the bomb. And Jessica was such a great waitress!!! Love this place.

Excellent place for deliciously prepared fish dishes. I usually go for the Alaskan wild caught salmon which is a delight. Often they have some exceptional specials which I would highly recommend. On the downside, I wish they would remodel the inside which is way too dark and kind of old: Robert Irvine could do marvels there. Otherwise it is one of our favorite place and you are not getting the usual chain restaurant greasy and calorie laden dishes which you would find in places such as the Red Lobster. The Fish House is many notches above and both my wife and I make it our bi monthly location for mouth watering fish and seafood dishes. Try the Mahi Mahi or the grouper. I wish they had some sparkling water though!

Best seafood in the Peoria area. Yes, atmosphere is dimly lit, but to me this is charming(not to mention flattering!). Our service is always outstanding. Food is always very very good. Their salads are so crisp, simple, and fresh. Good wine selection. I do wish they would bring back the smoked salmon fish spread for appetizer! Dinner rolls are heaven.

seafood, Peoria-style…consistent, friendly servers are there to help you find your way into 1969. This place hasn’t changed since I got out of high school. While I do enjoy fresh seafood in coastal environs, I always know what I get when I go here. Proof that the journey often surpasses the destination

Yes, the Fish House can be dark, but to me, that’s part of the charm. It’s older and the interior is filled with a lot of dark wood and nautical charm. The servers are always professional and we always enjoy our meals here. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant for seafood in the Peoria/East Peoria area. I also think their dinner rolls are up there with the top three I’ve ever had. If you are from one of the coasts you may have had better seafood, but I always enjoy seafood at the Fish House. My husband has also ordered their steaks, not being a huge fan of seafood, and they are good as well. And they do make a mean au gratin potato side. They also carry some nice wines, which I appreciate.
