Phoenix Children’s Academy Private Preschool – Thunderbird

My daughter has gone here since she was seven months old and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and the environment everybody there knows my child by first name her likes and dislikes. her favorite teacher is Miss Maggie knowing that Miss Maggie is with my child all day give me so much comfort and ease I highly recommend Phx Childrens academy. They go over the top to provide extras for the kids.

I worked for PCA for 2 and half years and also brought my children there the entire time i was working there. During this time there was a Director by the name of Lauren there who was more than amazing. I could say the same for the Assistant Director Michelle. The school was an amazing school all the way from management to the staff to the families. I never had an issue with any of the teachers, they all did exactly as i asked of them. I’m a very picky mom and they were okay with that. I cant say one bad thing about the any of the teachers there. Not only did they take amazing care of my children, but they became some of my closest friends. Unfortunately Lauren left the school. They have since brought on a new director by the name of Jenny Larson who is absolutely horrid. Not only does she have some horrible reviews from her previous school, she has also been ridiculously rude and demanding with not only the staff but the families as well. I myself as a teacher there decided to leave not only because she deiced to increase my day care tuition but because she absolutely had no manners or respect for others. When i put in my two weeks there she let me go on the spot simply because i was telling the parents of the children in my class that i would be leaving. I had built relationships with the parents of those children and felt i owed it to them to let them know that i would no longer be working there for their children. She completely robbed me of ever saying goodbye to my babies or my families. She also refused to let me get my things from my classroom and tried to take back the 2 week severance pay she told me i would go. So far there have been 5 full time students who have left the school because of Jenny Larson and there are so many more who have asked what the policy was for leaving and if they needed to give a notice. That school is going down fast. Parents of these kids don’t feel the school is the same as well as the teachers. I was the first good teacher to leave the school but i wont be the last. If i were rating the school simply on the teachers and assistant director id give the school more than a 5 star rating. But since Jenny came to the school its now down to a 1 star rating. If i could give less i would. Before you take your children here I would do some research on the school Jenny came from which was Tutor Time off of 67^th ave and Peoria. Some of the reviews i have personally found were how a father found his child in a classroom naked with another child and Jenny had no idea why. She also told the father that she would find out what happened and get back to him however that was never done so the father pulled his children out of the school. Another review i found was about how Jenny made a child who had a biting issue Bite down on a rag soaked in vinegar because he had bit another child. State found out about the incident and wrote her up. Also look up the state checks from her old school as well. She left her classrooms over ratio numerous time during a state check. As a teacher, being over ratio at any time of the day is dangerous. That is when bad things happen to the children. Either kids get hurt or do bad things such as leave to another room to get naked with another child. Jenny does not know how to run a school at all. She ran one school to the ground in the past, i can see the same thing happening with this school which saddens me because this used to be the best school I’ve ever encountered. If Jenny ever left, id consider bringing my children back.

My kids have been attending here for almost 3 years and we wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. The staff is friendly and is always about doing what’s best for your child and you. My son is lactose intolerant and they have worked with us to make sure he’s getting and not getting what he’s supposed to.
They have the rooms all separated by age group so your kid is hanging out with other kids their age and doing things relevant to their age group. We’ve gotten to know the teachers and directors and feel like our kids are part of a special school family.
It is a private preschool so there is a higher price tag than a regular daycare, but in my opinion worth it. I think they offer scholarships sometimes but I’m not sure what the criteria is.

We have been taking my step-​grandson here for about a month now. The reason we chose Phoenix Children’s Academy is because they do more than watch and care for the children. They also educate them.
In our boy’s age group, they are teaching things like shapes, colors, and sign language. In older groups, they are learning pre-​school basics, plus things like Spanish and nutrition.
Every day, we get a report card, that details his nap times, what he ate, and any other relevant notes. We also get hand-​outs that outline what he is currently learning, so we can continue the lessons at home.
The only thing I wish they would change is the food they serve. Since they have no commercial kitchen, they can only offer prepared foods. That can sometimes means things like chicken nuggets and American cheese sandwiches.
However, you do have the option to provide your own lunches. They provide a monthly menu, so you can see in advance if there is anything you would prefer your child not have.
All in all, we are happy with PCS, and so is the kiddo.
