Landmark Recreation Bowling Center

For you full time bowlers, this is probably the best maintained bowling center in Central Illinois. Since the new synthetics, you hardly find them too dry. For league bowlers, there are a ton of money making options from the optional strike jackpot, the strike jackpot tickets, bowling Bingo, brackets on Thursday nights, and many tourneys and sweepers.
The bathrooms are outdated but the new carpet around the center is nice. Daycare is available to league bowlers for a $ 1 per kid. They have waitresses that come to the lane to take orders which is really helpful.

Cheap beer. Check out the Tower! The attached bar had games and tvs and wasn’t very crowded. Yes, they make you give them one of your shoes.

I believe this location has been recently remodeled. The lanes were nice and clean with plenty of seating at tables nearby. This was midnight bowling which meant pretty loud music and black lights/​colored lights so it made bowling a bit harder than normal. The scorekeeping screens were still old-​fashioned but the shoes seemed brand new. It was $ 6 a person to bowl until midnight. There were a lot of security/​cops loitering around which was nice, I have read and heard about a lot of crime here but it was very calm this night.
Draw-​Backs
1. Midnight bowling ends at 11:30pm. They will shut off your lanes at 11:30pm without warning but will turn them back on if you call them on the pink phone or walk up and ask.
2. The bar is staffed by one bartender even though she serves the bowling side and the entire bar on the other side. Can be a long wait so I recommend pitchers of beer.

Customer service can be hit or miss. My league team had to withdraw mid-​season because two were relocated for work and one for personal reasons. At first, the alley wouldn’t help me with cancelling my team, even though I communicated that for the past month my league secretary has ignored my request to pull the team. Instead I continued to get charged for my lane through the end of the 26-​week schedule. I didn’t realize recreational league bowling was a contract you can’t escape! To date, we’ve been charged over $ 100.
However, they were completely different when I stopped by to discuss the issue with the league coordinator, and I feel a lot better about the situation. Anyway, I think it could’ve been easier to handle upfront but it’s good to know that they empathize with their loyal customers.

I went here the other night and there was only 3 other lanes open out of 50. Rather than spread people out you have to share the return shute and computer with strangers and bowl on top of them. Lame! And when I got my bowling shoes they made me give ONE of my regular shoes.
