I saw the good reviews on here and that’s why I tried this place. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I tried the hot n sour soup & the wonton soup. Both of them were very oily & greasy. Flavor was bland on both. I also tried the combination platter of the all so popular General Tso chicken. It was decent but nothing to write home about. Also a little light and bland in flavor. The rice was great. Light and not overdone.

First let me start by saying in picky. This place hit the nail on the head. I decided to eat in, now yes the place is small but man o man are they busy. I sat here for 25 min and watched 10 people come and go. I began with the egg drop soup which was without a doubt one of my top favorite dishes. It was filled with egg and was cooked perfectly. The General Tso’s chicken was nice a crunchy, just how I like it and was laying on a bed of broccoli. Literally looked like it does in the picture. This is hard to find most places seem to skimp on the veggies but not this place. The fried rice synced with the chicken gave me a mouth explosion(this is a good thing) I will be back next time I come to Peoria. Hands down some of the best I’ve had.

Good fried rice! Not greasy or dark. I love that they have Mei Fun on their menu. Place is clean. Friendly staff. Great take out!

Got the boneless spare ribs lunch combo, & it was definitely a solid & filling meal! In the Kroger strip mall area it may not look like much from the outside, but the food definitely speaks for itself. Fast, fresh, & yummy American Chinese at a great value! The cashier was very nice, professional, & efficient — definitely much appreciated for the busy lunch hour. Will be back next time when I’m in the area to try some other menu items!

I’ve tried Chinese food high and low in the Peoria area but this one takes the cake by far. Your meal is ready in 15 minutes, you can call ahead if you want or just walk in. Sesame chicken and fried rice taste like a blessing from on High. I never liked crab rangoon until I had theirs. 10⁄10 Delicious!

It is very very odd to give a place like this five stars. Please understand, this is not a «Five Star» Restaurant, and I know that. You order at a counter, and sit at one of 6 small tables. Their drinks are self serve out of a cooler, and they don’t have hot tea, you have to make your own. Its in a strip mall. I understand that this doesn’t paint the picture matching my review. Here is why this place gets 5 stars: Because this is the BEST Chinese food I have ever had. Keep in mind, I am not a connoisseur of Chinese cuisine. I do not understand the subtle differences between Hunan, or Cantonese. I don’t know regions. I can’t judge authenticity. What I can judge is flavor, freshness, and quality. And this place has all of those things. Again, it is to date the best Chinese food I have ever had, including several nice home cooked meals by elderly women from China. You must try this place.

Would i give this place more if i could… yes! First i was hungry for anything and everything so the lady at the register helped describe dishes on the menu. I got 2 appetizers, one was an order of 8 crab rangoon and the other was a vegetable egg roll. The crab rangoon was recommended and i can see why. They were lightly fried and when you bite into them the sweet cream cheese oozes out. They were a crispy delight. The egg roll was good but i will describe it as just ordinary. Nothing btw was greasy. The dishes i ordered were phenomenal. The first was the Spicy Hot Bean Curd(Tofu) with Minced Pork. It was make your nose run spicy hot but not ruin the flavor spicy hot. There was an abundance amount of tofu with a small amount of peas and garlic to enhance the flavor and the pork was nice also in the sauce. This dish is addictive btw you just cant stop eating it. The other dish was Hunan Shrimp. The shrimp are very plump and large and not over cooked. The broccoli and red peppers were crisp and the light garlic in the sauce finished the dish. The small amount of heat in the brown sauce was spot on. And the rice… omg the pork fried rice is great. Cant say enough for a place in a strip mall by Krogers. Well done everyone associated with this place!

Your standard chinese ‘hole in the wall’ place. The food is good and the service is great.

This is a great little quiet Chinese place and if you want a quick lunch or something, you can just stop in Golden Kitchen! They have very good orange chicken and appetizers and they have a take home menu. This is a very quaint little place and I go here often.

I love the food here. Always fixed fresh hot and delicious! No one makes better steamed dumplings anywhere. Their lunch specials are served with ample portions and your choice of soup or eggroll or crab rangoon. All choices satisfy well. It’s a small shop, pretty far from the beaten track, but easily accessed from I-74. The kitchen is clean and the staff is friendly and efficient. If you are passing by or through Peoria, go to the Golden Kitchen!

Unilocal was spot on! I was driving through the area and looked up «Chinese» last minute and I trusted the Unilocal Review. Sure glad I did! My 7yrold daughter said she gives their General Tsoa’s chicken 5 million stars. We had that chicken, vegetable lo mein and crab ragoon(which the owner gave us for free bc I told her we were here bc of all of her awesome Unilocal reviews). Definitely a good fast cheap Chinese spot!

After reading reviews for this place I decided to give it a try. We ordered the vegetable lo mein, fresh broccoli w/garlic sauce, and a pint of the egg fried rice. Everything was very delicious! I have to admit I was a little bit afraid that this place was going to be mediocre, however it was really good! This is a must go to place if you want great chinese food! I will definitely be going back here frequently! Also, as a plus, this place gives you a lot! They pack their containers!

The Unilocalers have it right!!! This place is great. Loved the food and the service was great. Recommend the potstickers, Rangoon, sesame chicken and lo mein. $ 23 for 4 of us to eat. It was good food at a good price!

My husband and I are relatively new to the area, so we don’t really know where the good places are yet. We followed the reviews here on Unilocal to Golden Kitchen. We weren’t disappointed! The interior is quite small. It wouldn’t seat that many people who wanted to eat in, but I’m guessing the majority of their business is take-out. As far as I could tell, they don’t offer delivery. The menu is quite large and they have lunch specials and chef specials as per usual. The prices are comparable to any other Chinese place. Most of the dishes are offered in two sizes — a pint and a quart, which I really like. Since we found the place, we’ve ordered the sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, pork egg roll, hot and sour soup, vegetable fried rice, chicken lo mein and the sweet biscuit appetizer. Everything was great, though the hot and sour soup was kind of a let down. It was a little bland. The chicken lo mein, however, was some of the best I’ve ever had. I don’t know how Golden Kitchen compares to other Chinese places in the area since I haven’t tried any of them, but I know that it’s really good and affordable. Give them a shot!

This place was great compared to the Chinese food places in the Peoria area. My husband and I just moved here from CA and were having trouble finding any delicious Chinese food places out here. The Golden Kitchen did not disappoint! The staff was very friendly, and our food was delivered fairly quickly– granted, we were the only customers at the time. A few others came and went ordering pick-up. The place is somewhat small, so it doesn’t really invite you to stay too long. I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice. I am really picky about the texture of the meat I eat. I can’t really handle soft meat at Chinese restaurants. I was so pleased to see that my chicken came out crunchy and delicious! The rice had a bit of a smokey taste to it, but it tasted great with the chicken. My husband ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice. He thought it was«very tasty». It was also pretty crunchy. All in all, I definitely think we’ll return if we’re in the mood for some«fast-food» Chinese!
