Some of the best sandwiches in Peoria, especially the New Yorker. Freshly toasted bread is delicious and the sandwiches are massive. I can’t wait to try the pizzas, I hear they’re delicious as well. I put in an order for pickup whenever I’m in the area, just allow 15 – 20 mins for sandwiches.

If the 1990s décor does get you, the fresh food and attentive service will. The pizza and dough is made fresh… and maybe to order(?). Definitely will be back when I am in Peoria.

I’ve eaten here forever. If they closed, my heart would probably break. It is a dive and orders can take a while, so keep that in mind. Also, you need cash. It’s cheap, however. Most importantly, the food is AMAZING!!! Holidays and spinach pizza are my fave!!!

When it comes to pizza joints, I’ll buy from the local guy rather than a chain any day. Even a small chain. According to some of the Unilocal reviews, this place looked like the kind of place that jewels are found. Uhmmm…not this time. My GPS led me to a marginal neighborhood. Not a bad one, just a down in the heels kind of area. The place is a corner building. You walk inside and there is a dining area with about 6 tables and a counter, with the kitchen being behind the counter. Your first thought is «Holy Shit, is this place filthy!» Even the stains had stains. The guy behind the counter, I wasn’t sure if he was the owner, or the village wino who takes out the trash for a bit of liquor money. Turns out he was the proprietor. When considering the order, I had to look at the menu above the counter. There is one paper menu, a beat up Xerox copy that the person taking the order uses for a crib note. Menu is basic, a variety of pizzas, sandwiches, gyros and a couple of salads. I ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza and this took about 20 minutes to have ready. A large costs about $ 17 bucks. I took the pizza back to the hotel room and found it adequate. Crust is of medium thickness and chewy, tons of cheese, abundant sausage and canned mushrooms. Sauce was rather bland, the mushrooms were soft and rather mushy, like they were old, sausage was OK but there was a weird aftertaste, anise seed maybe? Eyeballed the sandwich prices, 4 bucks for a half and 6 for a whole. Watched the guy make a few and they do look good and well stuffed. So perhaps I should have went with a sub. Two words of advice, when placing your order, speak loud and clearly, the man seems to have hearing problems and two; bring cash, the place doesn’t take credit cards. What makes this place interesting is that you can laugh about it after you’ve visited the place. Probably a lot more fun if you knocked back a dozen beers before entering the place.

This was recommended to me by someone whose car broke down in front of it 10 years ago. Otherwise, how else would you stumble upon Fedora’s. It doesn’t seem to invite customers in, but the food makes you glad you took the chance. Had a pizza and a sandwich, I think an Italian combo. They were both good. I will definitely return.

I tried Fedora’s for the first time and had one of their gourmet sandwiches the«New Yorker»: pastrami, corned beef with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and mustard, mayo, and house dressing. It was a very filling sandwich and I was pleased to find out the the bread is in house baked which really makes the sandwich. I say give Fedora’s a try and support your local ma and pops shops!

we had the pizza bread(total waste of money — it was just so so bread with sauce), gyro, and the italian sandwich. dont get the special sauce — it was sweet, which personally i dont like with my italian meats. and the gyro was just kinda a mess — good because it had a lot of meat but bad because there was just not enough pita. and this is just kinda a pet peeve — but he included tomato(which you had to pay extra for) until i said i didnt want it. it wasnt too bad waiting for the food — except that while making our food the owner kept taking calls about his bank and owing people money, which didnt exactly give the best impression. there were also a lot of people ahead of us who had apparently called ahead but still had to wait just as long. all in all it was ok. i dont think we’re going back though. but maybe the pizza is better.

Tonight we had our very first Fedora’s pizza experience. Don’t be deceived by the décor(or lack thereof). It’s not the cleanest place, but the food makes up for it, and actually the environment adds a bit of charm to the place — and the service was great! You can tell they care about their business. A large pizza is very reasonable(3 toppings was about $ 16), and it was heavy with toppings. We’ll definitely be going back again soon.

Love this place! I don’t think many people try it, because it is always empty. If you like gyros, try the gyro pizza, it is amazing… I’ve never found this anywhere else. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it. The sandwiches are HUGE and delicious!

I can’t possibly give enough love to Fedora’s. I had my first Fedora’s sandwich 18 years ago when I was a freshman at Bradley U. I moved away from Peoria 11 years ago and every time I go home to visit, I ALWAYS stop by Fedora’s at least once. Their sandwiches are like no other– huge, unique, fresh, and almost as good the second day. Try the New Yorker(sort of like a reuben only far better) or the Italian. The spinach pizza is the best I have ever had– buttery crust, bubbling cheese, exactly the right amount of spinach. The décor is basic and it’s almost always empty, as most people go there for takeout. It’s not filled with ambience but the food is amazing and it’s one of the best local restaurants in Peoria. Don’t miss it!
