I have to admit, I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. One of my best friends and I opted for a private lesson, which is exactly what I recommend doing if you have never done aerial yoga. Given that you are hanging upside down most of the time, I definitely would not recommend this for anyone who hasn’t already done formal yoga and knows positions and breathing techniques. Our instructor, Leyna was absolutely amazing. She is the Master Teacher and owner of the studio, and at all times she made my friend and I feel comfortable. This was the most fun I have ever had during a private lesson, and it was an extremely rewarding experience. Leyna first explained when my friend called to make a reservation not to eat two hours before, and to wear a top with sleeves so our hammocks would not feel uncomfortable on our arms. When beginning our lesson, Leyna explained that we were perfectly safe in our hammocks(they can hold 2,000 pounds), and if we ever felt dizzy or uncomfortable to stop and let her know. Our lesson was fabulous! I told Leyna to push me and help me adjust into certain positions and she did just that. She even took pictures of myself and of my friend, and made the whole experience enjoyable while we broke a sweat! Leyna would also demonstrate each position first and then help my friend and I do our flips and poses simultaneously. Vata Asana is new to the Pennington area, but it will expand rapidly. I plan on attending again when I am home!
