This was an interesting stop for me since I do not drink. However, in another life I did my share. The party that were with us enjoyed the sampling of the different types of moonshine. The bar tender, so to speak, was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the establishment of a legal moonshine store. He told us how they worked with the state legislators to be able to pay taxes on the moonshine. People not paying taxes on moonshine is the only reason that it is illegal. It was an interesting stop and a fun time even though I didn’t drink. I did purchase some of the moonshine for a couple of friends at work and they seemed to enjoy it.

Excellent small store for booze fans. My girlfriend and I walked in a few hours before they closed to buy a last minute gift for my dad. The owner(or employee, not really sure) was very nice and polite to us and asked me what kind of alcohol my dad liked so he could recommend a good drink. I wound up buying some white lightning, because he said it’s easy to mix with everything, and it’s a pretty good choice. I also bought some peach liquor, after a solid taste test. Free taste tests, polite and knowledgeable staff, combined with good pricing, you can bet I’ll be back for more on our way back down south!

Being from out of state, it was a novelty to be able to sample and buy real moonshine! The gentleman who waited on us was very knowledgeable about the history of moonshine, the state’s laws about it, Palmetto, and how it all came about. Very interesting story! Reasonably priced. Bought a «gift set» of 9 small bottles of White Lightning to bring to my office mates back home… they LOVED the novelty of it. Haven’t heard yet if anyone has been brave enough to taste it!

Super fun tasting and great place to buy gifts for yourself and anyone who likes a strong drink. We got the strawberry flavor and I can’t wait to mix it with lemonade! Definitely feed the donkey… he’s cute and friendly.

A place where you can sample some moonshine and then go feed and pet some darn cute animals? Oh HELL yeah! This place is pretty wicked awesome, and they feature some darn good Moonshine to boot! If you’re coming from Greenville, it’s about a 30 – 35 minute drive to get here. It’s conveniently located a short distance from the interstate and very easy to spot from the road. It’s free to get in and taste some moonshine, and a low, low price of $ 1 cash for a decent-sized bag of animal feed. When we went, we got to sample their four different types of moonshine(regular, peach, blackberry, and apple pie). Their regular is 105 proof, which is a little lower than other moonshine, but it has a very smooth, clean taste. All their flavored moonshines are around 45 proof, which is pretty typical from what I’ve seen. Their peach is not overwhelmingly peachy or sweet, but I will warn you that the blackberry is quite sweet and the fruit taste is quite prominent. Their apple pie moonshine is dangerously amazing, as it is very apple-pie-like and does not taste at all of alcohol. They also make and carry their own mixers with various fruit flavors and even a margarita one! We got to sample the margarita one, and who knew that moonshine margs would be quite so fabulous! Their moonshine comes in fifth-sized mason jars, and it costs right around the high 20 and low 30s depending on whether you get their regular moonshine or one of the flavors. Best of all, we were told that their moonshine is sold in Greenville if we wanted to buy it there rather than make the trip out. They also have a little gift shop right next to everything with their different mixers, hand-made jewelry, and other memorabilia with their logo on it. Their mixers are all-natural, gluten free, and cost around $ 8 per bottle. They also have a wonderful grilling sauce with moonshine that sells for around that price, I believe. We also got to sample that, and the grilling sauce was very delicious and tangy. As far as the animals go, they have some pot-bellied pigs, goats, and even a donkey(I believe). They were all on the lower level when we were there, and all of them were quite happy about being fed. Really, you can’t go wrong with this sort of adorable animal to feed. Overall, this was a fun free place to check out. The four of us that went all had a lovely time. You get less than a shot total of samples, so it’s a nice place to check out if you want to sample but still be able to drive.

I’ve had good backwoods moonshine, and would buy from Palmetto in a heartbeat. The proofing is lower from Palmetto, but it is worth it considering you don’t have to worry if the still was made using a car radiator. The people who work here are truly committed to the product that they sell and are not afraid to discuss the process they use to make it while allowing you to sample the product. They have all the great flavors you want from apple pie to white lighting and the prices are not that far off from what you would pay for the backwoods stuff. The environment is also a lot of fun. The authentic bearded suspender wearing mountain man invites you in and the goats on the roof set the tone for a great experience. Bring your kids and let them play out side while you go in and buy [formerly illegal] booze. Can’t beat that!

Both the Store and the distilery are worth visiting. Love to take visitors when they come and/or replenish my supplies.

Rye Whisky Rye Whisky please don’t let me down! Well this isn’t exactly Rye Whisky… it’s corn… nevertheless! Love love this place. Apparently this is the only place you can get legal moonshine in South Carolina! We saw the billboard and just had to stop. Love the goats on the roof and there is also a pet pig named Mash who is cute as a button… I think I may stop eating pork. I was driving, so of course my husband sampled the shine, which he said was suprisingly very smooth. I’m in love with Jim Tom from the reality show Moonshiners so when I saw the bearded moon-shine man that worked here, I had to hug him and take a picture. There’s a little gift shop as well. The best part about coming here is the feeling you get while driving away… I almost wanted to get pulled over with moonshine in the trunk! Don’t miss it!

You can’t get the flavors here, or at least, you couldn’t as of my last visit but I hear they’re working on licensing. But you can, however, get the regular shine for less then at the distillery due to local taxes. And it’s good too. Smooth and well priced. There’s also a cute little gift shop for all your moonshine accouterments. But seriously… it could all be terrible and it wouldn’t matter because… GOATS. ONTHEROOF. I cannot relay the joy and delight that are brought by such a simple thing as a roof deck made for goats. It’s seriously the best thing ever. If you don’t stop by here when you’re in the area you will regret it later.

Stopped by just out of curiosity and damn glad we did! Tasted 6 different flavors and ended up buying 2 of them. The staff was helpful and courteous. The goats and donkey were also a nice funny experience!
