They have a decent selection, so they get 2 stars instead of 1. On first visit the sales guy was friendly, and happy to help. And yes there was a «sale» in the store. I returned the next weekend with my husband and the same salesperson was there and a complete tool.(Oh, and there was another«sale» on). He couldn’t answer simple questions that are available on the websites of the mattress manufacturers, spent most of his time on the phone or online and had no interest in helping us, the only people in the store. Now I know that our running around in ratty jeans and t shirts probably doesn’t make us look like we can afford much, but looks are deceiving. Really deceiving, if you catch my meaning. So this week we bought our lovely new king size pillow top from Cardi’s in Hanover. It gets delivered tomorrow, so depending on how that goes, I’ll write their review. Oh, and they have free delivery and a 60 day trial period. Sleepy’s charges for delivery, removal of the old mattress, plus a restocking fee of several hundred dollars if you don’t like the new mattress. No thanks.

So, my very sweet and generous parents *awww* offered to buy us a new mattress as a wedding present. Yayyyyyy!!! They have a Tempur-Pedic, which they both have highly recommended for years, and after doing some research on a few different types of mattresses, I was pretty much sold. I know that generally speaking, mattress companies dictate the prices, so there isn’t a lot of variance from store to store, but I did want to check around at a few places to see what kind of freebies we could get(delivery, frame, pillows). So we started here. Now I’m a shopping gal. I love shopping, for anything and everything. But I don’t like pushy salespeople. Who does? And especially who does, when you’re rolling around on mattresses? We went on a weekend night, and were the only people in the whole dang store. The salesman actually seemed like a nice guy, but so desperate for a sale. When he asked what we were interested in, we mentioned Tempur-Pedic, and he immediately brought us over to the most expensive *naturally* model, which was somewhere in the neighborhood of $ 7000. For a bed. That isn’t made of GOLD. It just went downhill from there, with him not leaving us alone for a second, and just watching us while we tried out mattresses. It was kinda creepy, I don’t mind telling you. After he had given us the whole shpeel, we told him we’d be back, and he informed us that if we wanted to «take advantage of the WEEKEND deal» *you guys have heard the Sleepy’s commercials, right? They have a «sale» going all the time!*, we’d have to give him our information, and he could put us in the computer, blah blah. We were hesitant, but because the package price for everything wasn’t bad, we were ok with it. Oh dear Lord. It took the poor guy forever, and then for some reason unknown to us, he was calling his district manager? to «confirm the price»? As soon as he said«My manager wants to know why you are hesitant to buy the bed tonight.», I was out. We made some crap up, and hauled tushy. I HATE pushiness, and I see no need for it. We probably would have bought the bed from them, cuz the price was pretty good, but that was a deal-breaker. Isn’t it sort of ironic? You’re buying something for comfort, peacefulness, and rest, and it’s this stressful, uncomfortable experience? Yucky. No «Sleepy’s» for me! *Gawd, I’m witty! ;0)*
