Pelham Lumber & Mason Supply

I LOVE this place! Every single time I go there I learn so much from the staff! I usually only have a glimmer of what I want and they guide me to the most fantastic completed projects I could imagine. You will NEVER get the kind of service anywhere else. Pelham Lumber is a real neighborhood store with neighborhood people and you can feel it when you go there. Oh, and they also give great recommendations for local contractors of every kind. It is a great resource!!!

I knew this was the place I had to go to get a nice piece of lumber for a repair project. UNFORTUNATELY, I’m apparently not their typical customer, I’m a woman. The place was not busy with customers as I approached the guy behind the desk. I quickly explained my project to Juan — quickly, because he kept interrupting me and cutting me off. I finally just settled for a cedar 2×4. Then I had the audacity to ask if they had guttering and where the brushes were. I took this opportunity to check out the rest of the store. Lots of great stuff. When I returned to the desk to check out, Juan admonishes me that he thought I had left the store and that he was waiting for me to check out. How was I to have known? He rang me up and sent me out the door, saying someone in the yard would get my stuff. Luckily, an older gentleman approached me and said he would get the items on my invoice. Although I said I could carry them across the street to my car, he said he would. I thanked him and said he was the nicest person I’d met there. He laughed and said that the guys inside were always grumpy. This is a great resource with lots of quality supplies but the service I got from Juan was UNACCEPTABLE.
