Stella Roberts Recycling Center

Upon moving to the area, I was surprised that recycling is not popular or even convenient within the large metropolis of Houston! Seriously, why is this so difficult when it seems so easy [almost] everywhere else in this great country?
This place is welcoming and the staff are extremely friendly! I just pulled into the large building and parked to unload. Then, a young gentleman immediately assisted me with unloading my recyclables and even insisted on sorting the smaller boxes full of cans, bottles & plastic. He showed me that they package retired computers, monitors, TV’s, etc. and then send them to another company to meet their fate. I am happy to see that our tax dollars are going towards a worthwhile cause here at Stella Roberts Recycling Center… we need other locations too. I will just fill up boxes at my home and make the drive out to this recycling center once a month or so.

Super quick and efficient process. The driveway is a loop and so you can only go the right way through the center. It’s a drive-​through/​drop off. I drove up on a Monday afternoon no one else was there and a nice gentleman helped me to unload. You do not have to sort out your items and they all can be dumped in one bin except for glass. This makes recycling super easy for me as my husband never seems to quite understand sorting! Although disappointed that our new neighborhood does not offer curbside recycling this is a very easy and customer friendly service that will encourage me to continue to recycle.

I drive by this place on a regular basis, but just haven’t found the time to drop off all of the plastic bottles that I have been saving. I finally stopped by this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a «drive thru» system. I was expecting to have to carry the bottles inside the building. The attendant was nice and took the bottles with the caps for me. I had to get out to get them out of the trunk. I noticed the floor was really slippery (could have been the type of shoes that I had on). It was a really simple process. I just wish they were open a little later (like 6 pm). The attendant stated that they weren’t taking paper (I had the bottles in a large brown paper bag). I’m not sure if that is always the case, as I feel like most recycling places accept paper, but I actually needed the bag so it didn’t matter. Either way, I’m going to start visiting this place more often because I hate throwing away plastic bottles and aluminum cans.

I love this recycling center! I’m very happy and feeling relieved that I’m able to drop off all my recyclable trash. They have glass, metal, plastic and paper! Will go here once a month for sure!

I love this recycling center so much that I drive all the way from the Scarsdale/​Beamer area to drop my plastics off here to recycle. The staff are so nice and they help you unload your recycling goods.
Like I mentioned in a previous review, everywhere I go I always draw a crowd. Once I pull my car in the warehouse looking garage everybody and they momma drive in to drop off there useful trash.
Hint: Don’t go around 3pm, if you are coming from Fite Rd. The narrow road from the school will be backed up. It’s a big long car rider line.
another Hint: Go during the week to drop off your recycling goods because they are closed on the weekends. They ARE open on Fridays though.
I just wish we had curbside recycling pickup in my area which is in the burbs. I don’t understand why we don’t have it.
Also, they don’t get angry if you don’t clean out your plastics. They take as is, and they don’t complain.
I know, they have closer recycling centers near my house. BUT, this one is my favorite!

Though we have curbside recycling pickup in our neighborhood, we still have a use for Stella Roberts Recycling Center since they take glass, electronics, and will (if I’m not mistaken) shred paper documents for you if you’d like. They also take old paint and their helpers are very nice even though I’m sure it gets plenty hot in the little warehouse. Just drive in, pop your trunk, and dump whatever you’ve got into any of the large bins. Supposedly this all gets sorted somewhere… which I’m suspicious of… but I don’t have the time to do a full on investigative exposè.
