My child has attended SoccerTots classes at several levels(parented and unparented) with various locations. This particular location is run pretty poorly in my opinion. My child is in a class that is the first level without parents. Three year olds need routine to learn and feel comfortable– we are in week 10 of 12 and this weekend class has had a substitute coach(with drastically different approaches) at least 4 of the weeks so far. In the other franchises, the coaches get INTO the teaching and know how to talk to kids at their appropriate age level to get and keep them engaged in learning the skills by using their imagination and appealing to a 3 year old’s sense of adventure. This franchise does none of that, and instead the coaches spend their time barking out the rules for the next random activity. I’m still trying to figure out why they have the kids stuff flags in their shirts so the others can chase them and rip the flag out — at this age I’m not sure what this teaches other than how to be a terror on the playground. My husband has played soccer all his life and really wants our children to get into it, but we’re going to have to find a different location/company if we keep with it.
