Good Quality food in a relaxed atmosphere served by a pleasant and courteous staff. Recently I had the Rack of Lamb and it was excellent, my wife said the same for her salmon. If the cream of potato soup is the soup of the day it is a must and you can’t go wrong with any steak. I have to make one note about people remarking on the décor: the place is warm and inviting in the style of a traditional pub. I am not sure what part of «traditional» these would be interior decorators don’t get. The décor set the mood and the traditional fare more than delivers

My husband and I are not from this area and wanted a good place to go for St. Patty’s Day. By the other great reviews on Unilocal,we decided to go to Gildea’s. We love to have our annual corned beef and cabbage at an authentic Irish place. I do think it is an authentic Irish restaurant and bar, however it is seriously lacking in that special Irish charm. The bar was nearly full, but lacked the festive feeling you get on St. Patty’s Day. We were seated and given lunch menus because it was before 3PM. The corned beef and cabbage were listed under entrees. The menu specifically stated that all entrees come with your choice of soup and choice of potatoes. When we ordered we were not asked what choice of soup or potatoes we would like. Since we figured the entrée would be sufficient, we didn’t bother to ask the server. They did not have the brand of wine I like, so I ordered a Cosmo with Grey Goose. When I got the drink it wasn’t made properly. Yuck! When our corned beef and cabbage came, we asked the server if they had regular mustard instead of the spicy brown variety that was on the table. The server replied that the spicy brown was their regular mustard. Hmmmmmmmmm! When the couple sitting at the table in front of us left we noticed that they had yellow mustard at their table. Ok on to our food! Terrible! The corned beef was way overcooked and was so dry you had to wash it down with water. The cabbage was undercooked. The boiled potatoes were ok, but hey it’s hard to ruin them. Extremely disappointed! When we got our bill, my husband noticed that we were overcharged. We pointed it out to one of the servers and they took care of it. I wondered to myself if they did that to others who didn’t notice they were being overcharged. Not saying that happened, just was wondering. For our traditional St. Patty’s Day experience we left feeling very unhappy!

In a town awash in run-of-the-mill and substandard Irish pubs, Gildea’s stands above the fray. I’ve only had lunch here but have been here many times. Great burgers– the Irish, with Irish bacon is a must try. Fantastic chicken salad, perfect fries. The kitchen knows what they are doing. I’m sure is all good. If you’re lucky, you’ll be served by Joe — an authentic Irish gentleman with a quick wit, a twinkle in his eye, pouring the best pint of Guinness in the county and maybe the state. This is what all those fake Irish Pubs aspire to.

We recently had a party at Gildea’s, and I cannot say enough about the service. It was excellent. The owner, Tara, treated us like we were family. She added so many special touches– she treated me like an old friend, and we just met. The food is very good pub fare. Their hamburgers are the best. I love the atmosphere, as it reminds me of days in Dublin. I definitely recommend.

Solid Irish pub in a town full of Irish pubs. There really is nothing special about Gildea’s to be perfectly honest. It’s a typical pub a little ways away from the little cluster of bars and because of this it generally boasts an older crowd. Atmosphere is very laid back. Décor has probably not been updated since the 1970s or 80s if yore being generous. and while they bathrooms are tiny they are clean enough and can accommodate your needs.

Nice Irish bar with Nice staff. The food taste good only with a couple off beers in you. You fell like you are back in 1986 with décor and the Music and TVs.

If steak is your passion, this is a must Go-To restaurant. Waitresses couldn’t be more attentive. On the negative side, very very loud and seating is very very tight. On balance, I can live with the bad only because the good is soo good.

Yummy food with a warm authentic Irish feel. Food was a bit overpriced so it would be great if there were more lower priced sandwich options to balance out the menu. Also, the beer selection is pretty standard, nothing too creative. It would be nice if there were a few more draft beer selections besides the usually Guinness, Bud and Smithwicks. The burger I had was huge and perfectly cooked… really delicious. My husbands Bangers & Mash were also very authentic and tasty.

Interesting observation… when owner, waitstaff of the establishment are grateful of your business… the food tastes better.

Exactly half bar and half restaurant, Gildea’s does a good job of both. The menu has a lot of the mainstays of Irish cuisine, and there’s always interesting specials. The waitstaff is very friendly. If you’re there to drink, the bar is very well stocked. In a town overflowing with bars and restaurants, Gildea’s is consistently good-to-great and has never disappointed. Its an excellent place on St. Patrick’s Day Parade – not too far from the end, and close to the grandstand. Slainte!
