I’ve past by Buzz’s Steakhouse on several occasions and have always thought that I should try this place. It rests on the top of Kuahao Place in Pearl City, so there’s a really nice view overlooking the city that extends to Pearl Harbor. I called on a Friday night hoping they’d have room for 3 at 7pm and they did. I was truly shocked, but nervous that maybe there wasn’t a lot of people dining there for a reason – but this worry was dispelled by the abundance and variety of people dining there. There was a crowd of families, people on dates and construction workers enjoying their aloha Friday. We were seated a couple minutes after checking in and helped by a waiter instantly. The service was really good here-from the host to the waiter to the busser. The menu is very basic and included a small selection of steaks, seafood and add-ons. Every entrée includes salad bar and bread, but only select items come with side dishes, like baked potato or rice, so you will most likely have to order an add-on. I ordered the teriyaki steak with shrimp scampi(because of the Unilocal recommendations), my bf and dad ordered the Hawaiian steak special, which is an organic grass-fed Big Island steak that’s served with your choice of potato or rice. The shining star of this review is the salad bar. I was surprised to see the selection and to see the bread on a warmer/grill. The selection included avocados, sprouts, spinach, lettuce, beets, etc., and several salad dressings. The bread was sourdough. All of the steaks that we ordered were okay, but the grill was backed up, so we waited about 25 minutes for our entrees. We were fine with this because we were catching up, talking story and the server was very attentive. Overall, Buzz’s Steakhouse was better than I anticipated, but could use a little more improvement. Our steaks were cooked to our order, but my bf and dads could have used more seasoning.

Things started off great. We had a reservation for 21 people. We checked in and was seated almost immediately, which is a big plus for me. We were also seated in a separate room on the right which was also great. Then things started to go down hill from there. The waitress accidentally spilled water on my chair, luckily I was sitting forward so most off the water missed my back. Now instead of the waitress wiping it immediately she continued serving the water and then said she’d be back with some towels. She took forever. By the time she came back we had already wiped everything with the napkins on our table. Now on to ordering, our waitress was extremely rude. Now I always order for my self and the kids. When she was taking my order she cut me off and said that she will start from one end and then come around to my side to take my order. I said okay(assuming that’s how they will keep everything organized for when the food arrives as to not get mixed up) WRONG! When the food came she was running around like a chicken without a head serving everyone their plates confused. Like what the hell was the purpose of taking the orders in a row and cutting me off?! On to the food. Mostly everyone’s food was great. Just three of us got served out steak black on the outside and raw on the inside(I couldn’t even bite into mine it was so tough). My father just asked for them to cook his more in which they brought it back completely burned and overcooked inside and out. Everyone was practically done eating and I still hadn’t received my steak. I then called for a manager to just cancel it, I had lost my appetite by then. The manager was extremely understanding and very helpful. Awesome customer service on her end. When we were about to leave she gave me my canceled steak to go on the house. The ribs were good. The garlic mashed potato was AWESOME. The salad and garlic bread were also good. And the ice cream pie was totally delicious and worth the $ 7 bucks. I wouldn’t recommend it to parties over 8 because they charge a 20% gratuity which for us was $ 120 that our waitress absolutely did NOT deserve.

My sweetie has been wanting to try something new, so we headed on over to Buzz’s. The first thing that got my approval was the view. The bright openness of the main dining room was refreshing. Our server, Travis, did an excellent job clarifying done things and making suggestions. I decided to go Hawaiian and get the Aloha plate, which was kalbi(a delectable Korean sparerib), lomi salmon and laulau. I had a hard time with the laulau. My mainlander tongue rebelled a little against those mushy poi leaves and I am a lightweight when it comes to island pork– too gamey. The first bowl of lomi salmon came sans salmon, but the waiter rectified it right away. My date had the sirloin and scampi, which was wonderful and cooked just right. He also enjoyed the garlic mashed potatoes. We both made a couple of trips to the salad bar, which wasn’t huge, but had a nice, interesting and varied selection, which we greatly enjoyed. This is a nice place with an ambiance that’s different from what you’d normally get in the area, but it’s a little pricey P. S. the Pomegranate Martini was good and not too strong even for someone who’s not much of a drinker.

Meh… Nothing extraordinary that stands out about this place. Great ambiance, view and loved the more intimate booths. Also great customer service. Called at 7pm on a Saturday and got a reservation for 730 for 4 adults and baby. Food was too«banquetey» for me.(Steak, veggies and starch) I’m also not a fan of salad bars and this one didnt offer anything extra. They were out of Garlic mashed potatoes, which is weird. I thought the baby top was too bland. My husband said the same of his top sirloin. They also didn’t make an old fashion correctly. Our friends weren’t impressed with the seasoning of the New York strip either. Not super expensive, but really no reason to want to come back.

Love Buzz’s Original Steakhouse in Pearl City/Aiea. Back in the day when you went to Buzz’s I remembered having to dress up. Now it’s become such a family restaurant that casual attire is acceptable. We love sitting in the bar and having our dinner served, but there’s nothing wrong with being in the dining room, we just like the cozy-ness of the bar. The staff is awesome, always friendly and the service is great! I do love the steak and one of my favorites is the ground sirloin. But I really go here for the bottomless soup and salad, it’s my go to place when I’m ono for it!!!

We tried Buzz’s for the first time last night and was very pleased with our food, but mostly with our server, Josh. He was friendly, knowledgeable and around when we needed him. We originally ordered a glass of wine each, he suggested a bottle so we would be able to have a couple glasses. We both had top sirloin combos, I had the lobster and my girlfriend had the scampi. The portions were perfect for us. The salad bar was a nice option, the garlic bread was delicious. The restaurant itself is a little dated looking but I loved the big chairs at the 2 pax tables because they added a little privacy. We will be back.

The last time I was here was about 6 years ago for a Valentines Day dinner. This time it was just a dinner date with Dan. We wanted to try something different from what we normally do because we usually venture to the restaurants at Ko Olina. Buzz’s Steakhouse did not disappoint. From the time that we entered to the moment we left, the customer service made sure we were taken care of. The food(we both ordered steak) was cooked as ordered and the selections at the salad bar was just right. Overall, great experience, great price and great food. We’ll definitely be returning.

We had a 7pm reservation, we waited 20 minutes before anyone came to even take us to our table and that was after we stopped someone. She told us I’m not a hostess if you wait she should be here soon to help you. I believe the only good part was the salad bar and only the salad and that’s saying something since I love steak. The food was cold, not warm or even room temperature just plain cold. The rice was cold all the way through I mean you could actually feel like it came from the fridge because you cold actually feel it really cold in the middle. The vegetables were bland and also cold and the color looked off to me. The steak was cooked ok I ordered medium, it was a little over done but I guess it’s hard to get a steak cooked right. The taste was bland as well I had to use ketchup and salt for the steak and the shrimp which was also cold. The service was okay, no personality they three different waiters came but they did not smile or have any good customer service. This was only my order my families food was even worse. Either way under or over cooked and everything was cold not even one item was hot, warm or even room temperature. Very disappointed, not coming here again. Cattle company is way better at least the food is hot and have at least some taste.

Bring a sweater, it gets cold! I tried to order the Shiraz, but they were out. So instead I ordered a glass of house Pinot Noir, but it tasted old. Super disappointed. I ordered the rib eye with mashed potatoes. The salad bar comes with the meal, but it’s nothing special. The dressings wernt labeled properly, but the bread was good. My rib eye was tastey and cooked decent. My boyfriend ordered his medium and it was very well done. That’s always the worst when steak is over cooked. The service was decent. Nothing special. I’d say save your money and go to cattle company right down the road!

Short review: First off, our service could have been better. We waiting for quite a bit before having our order taken. Luckily everyone but my mom usually tries to stay positive about that kind of stuff. Secondly, the food wasn’t too bad, but it just… wasn’t that great. It wasn’t anything«wow» or nearly worth the price that we paid for it. I think I would rather have eaten at Liliha Bakery and I honestly don’t like that place lol. At the end of our meal we ended up getting dessert and… something fishy is going on because I overheard the waiter telling the other table different desserts that were available as opposed to what he told us. Our waiter opted to bring out an entire tray of ice cream cake slices for us to choose from and stated that these were the desserts of the night. The other table’s waiter was listing off dessert choices that were not ice cream cakes at all… so… I’m just a bit confused… Overall, I honestly don’t think the experience was worth what my dad paid. On the upside I really like the corner with the lighted tree. I think I’d like to come back just to eat in that corner with someone special because I like pretty lights lol.

Came here on the 4th of July to celebrate my wife’s and I’s 11th wedding anniversary. We made reservations for 7, arrived 30 minutes early, and were promptly seated. Everyone was super friendly, waiter was very attentive and made sure everything we needed was provided. I ordered their BBQ beef ribs with garlic mashed potatoes. Not the best I have had but was pretty good. My wife had their scallops over pasta with steamed veggies. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal. All their entrees include their all you can eat salad bar. All their dressing are made in house and their garlic bread in awesome. For dessert we shared the Kona coffee ice cream pie, amazing and free because it was our anniversary. The only thing I don’t recommend is serving the dessert off the sample tray. After we chose ours they walked to the next table with the same tray and served another couple. Something not sanitary about other people peering over your dessert before it makes it to you. Better to have a sample tray that’s only for showing options, them bring a fresh piece out from the back. I highly recommend Buzz’s, nice location with a wonderful view of Pearl Harbor. Very relaxing ambiance for an enjoyable experience. I’d happily return, Mahalo SYOY

Was not happy with the experience. The waitress explained the specials but did not offer the prime rib special that we knew about. We went in before 5 pm so it was just 2 tables, not busy. We ordered the prime rib, Au Jus was poured all over the plate, waitress did not ask what kind of horseradish we would like. Au Jus caused everything to splash, it looked sloppy and the meat was tough for a prime rib. We would probably not come here too often. I came because I was invited. Really rather go to Cattle Company.

Aloha y’all and here’s my review on Buzz’s Pearlcity. 1st off it is our 12th Year Wedding anniversary and we decided to bring with us my mother in law and her sister. They never asked us if we are celebrating a special occasion so we didn’t bring it up to see how the night would go. Our person who escorted us to our table was great and got our drink orders and let us know to help ourselves to the salad bar which by it’s self was good. I had the King cut Prime Rib, I liked it lots of flavor. Wife had the steak and shrimp scampi. good as well. Hawaiian local plate and Teri Chicken was had by Mom and Aunty. Both good. Over all the experience would invite us back although our actual server«Summer» seemed to rush us into leaving and paying when we didn’t even order desert yet. All in all it was an ok dinner and we left without complaints. Some good praises with our meals and the service was ok too. We’ll be back and thank the people there especially the cooks who did a pretty good job on our meals… thank you!

Note: Many visits over the decades. In the last two years, a huge slide. In the last two visits… Commercial spot: [Two leggy, young, blonde women in their 20’s dressed in pink. «Clueless» soundtrack plays in the background] Valley Girl 1: We’re going to Buzz’s? Like O… M…G!!! Valley Girl 2: I know right? Salad bar! Valley Girl 1: I heart the way all the stuff is cut into different shapes and sizes! And the dressings are like wow! Everyone full of boiled egg, sunflower seeds, bacon bits, and cheese. Valley Girl 2: I had tofu in mine! I was like, wow, how did they know. Valley Girl 1: And the bread! Like yum, cold, chewy, and dripping in margarine. Valley Girl 2: Well you know, real butter is bad. Valley Girl 1: I know right? Valley Girl 1: OMG, the corn chowder is like to die for! Valley Girl 2: Like Nomz! Thick, super sweet, like a blended smoothie! Valley Girl 1: It’s like they know, you don’t chew soup! Valley Girl 2: Love, love, love how they help me keep in shape. You need to like, move your fork and knife back and forth, like forever to cut the steak. It burns calories! Valley Girl 1: I read somewhere that you’re supposed to chew your food like 30 times to lose weight. I chewed my steak like 50. Do I look thinner? Valley Girl 2: Like duh. Valley Girl 1: And like, ordering it is so easy. You can like say medium rare or, what’s the other one, oh yeah, medium and they all come out the same way; well done. Valley Girl 2: OMG yeah, it even sounds good; «well done». Valley Girl 1: I was like, wow, the way that girl opened the wine, putting the bottle between her legs and pulling out the cork. I’m like so doing that at our next soirée! Valley Girl 2: It’s so sophisticated. You should totally do that. Valley Girl 1: Oh and they are so fast. They like bring all the food to the table at once! Valley Girl 2: Right? OMG, did you ever try their steak with your salad dressing? F… T…W!!! Valley Girl 1: I just love that smoky smell gets into your hair and clothes. Valley Girl 2: We’re like bff’s, I love it too! It made my car, my bed, everything smell so good! Valley Girl 1: We should like totally go back there. Valley Girl 2: Like yeah! [Fade to black]

This was my second time here… Gyotaku was a two hour wait for Mother’s Day, so we went up the street to see what the wait would be like at Buzz’s. I called ahead, but was told they were not taking reservations and to just come and wait. When asked how long the wait would be, the guy said he couldn’t tell me and that there were a lot of people waiting. We decided to just go and see what it would be like. Would you believe they just took us right in!!! So weird… couldn’t believe that. So note to future patrons… don’t call ahead… just go and see for yourself. Once seated, our experience was much better. Our server Jean was friendly, but the busser Kaeo(…maybe Kaleo?) was even more exceptional. He was very attentive to our needs all through the night. I had the soup and salad option, while my parents had just the salad. The awesome part about it is that it’s all you can eat soup and salad! The soup of the night was clam chowder… can’t go wrong with that! Soup and salad was $ 16.95, while just salad bar was $ 13.95. It’s not the most extensive salad bar, but it’s okay. The list of items — mixed salad, avocados, onions, tomatoes, ocean salad, olives, green peppers, spinach, bean sprouts, beets, eggs, croutons, pineapples… just off the top of my head. The garlic bread that’s offered at the salad bar is the best part of it, though! Yummers! And the plates are kept in a little fridge so they are nice and cold when you grab them. My brother ordered the Hawaiian Rib Eye(about a little under $ 40), which was a special of the night. He said he didn’t know what made it «hawaiian,» though. He also ordered a side order of mushrooms and onions(about $ 5). All in all, a pretty good experience. The food is mediocre, but I guess the price is alright. I hear the ice cream pies are yummy, but we were too full to try any of that. With salad bars quickly disappearing across the island, it’s rare to find places that still have them. While Buzz’s may not be the BEST salad bar, it’s decent. I would come back again.

I’ve really come to enjoy the staff here at Buzz’s. Frequenting this place for more than 20 years, there was a good span of time that the service went downhill — really bad!– while the food has remained consistent. With that, the food has never been an issue. Last night was the third time in the last couple months that I’ve visited this location. We’ve had different bussers and servers each time and I’m really happy to say that they all have been attentive and personable. The thing that I’m disappointed about is not knowing all their names to recognize what a great job they’re doing– and not just the front of house staff, I’ve even seen the kitchen staff help out customers. That’s awesome to see! My regular order is the calamari steak in a lemon butter caper sauce… YUM…and the salad bar. Every now and then on special they’ll have a grass fed, local rib eye… this dish melts in your mouth. The only thing that’s keeping me from giving them a higher rating is that the bar has not been consistent. I usually order a BLT(bourbon lemon tonic). Last night, it was awful. I think the bartender got it wrong in the ratio as well as the type of alcohol. Otherwise, this location is much improved and we’ll definitely be coming back again!

It’s just okay. That was my overall reaction. The restaurant is much larger inside than I thought it would be. The downside to this is that there really isn’t enough parking for all that seating. I prefer the Ruby Tuesday salad bar to Buzz’s. Although Buzz’s has hot-off-the-grill garlic bread, Ruby Tuesday’s has a bigger selection and much better croutons. That said, the salad bar is included in Buzz’s entrée pricing while it is an extra cost item most of the time at Ruby Tuesday. My entrée was sauteed scallops with vegetables and pasta. Blame me for ordering it at a steakhouse but I just wasn’t in the mood to eat steak. It was a little bland. Needed more garlic and even some salt. Maybe/hopefully I’ll be impressed after trying a steak. I’ll be sure to update my review if/when I return.

Checked this place out two Saturdays ago because was looking for a salad bar(that’s not Ruby Tuesday). We specifically came during the early bird dinner special $ 19.99 and for that alone I give my 4 stars because it’s a lot of pretty good food for the price. I can see how some people would give this place 2 – 3 stars, because 1) it’s not the prettiest or newest of restaurants, the décor is outdated and lived in but in a way that says, «people been coming here for generations and it shows!»!” 2) If I came during the normal times and paid the regular menu prices, I think I’d be a bit disappointed coz it isn’t cheap. I’d gladly slap another $ 5 – 15 to hit up a nicer steak house in town. At any rate, here’s my skinny on Buzz’s. Pros: –The avocado at the salad bar ain’t no joke! It’s real deal avocado! Not some gummy preserved stuff, it’s like Haas or something! Creamy, goodness. I’m an avocado addict, so for $ 13.95(all you can eat salad bar price) I’d pay that in a heartbeat to load up on my good fats any day. –Garlic bread at the salad bar is good too -$ 19.99 Early bird dinner from 5p-6p either prime rib or fresh fish, a heap of fresh steamed veggies comes with salad and garlic bread. –Service was good, our waitress was quick and attentive. Cons: — Old ambiance. We were seated by this planter of silk flowers and we were sneezing a few times because they were dusty. –Parking could be hairy in that lot as only a few slots are for Buzz’s. Maybe it opens up later but by the time we left cars were circling like hawks. –I feel the price to food ratio is a bit skewed, kinda pricey but maybe it’s because I’m weighing in the overall experience. –Even though the salad bar is good, it’s lacking some fresh cucumbers… call me silly but they don’t need two types of pickled cucumbers and not have anything fresh.

The name is fitting… because talk about buzzkill. We went here for my boyfriends grandmas birthday based on a family choice. We were a very large party and were seated in a room with another large party. We were brought water right away but after that I have to say service got weird. Our server was very nice but the whole experience didn’t feel very comfortable. The menu is very simple. A few steak choices, a few local choices, a few combos. Everything seemed overpriced to me for where we were. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib and I would up with a new york strip. Both of our plates came out more rare than they should have [and this is coming from someone who loves her meat mooing] and I was let down my box tasting garlic mashed potatoes. The mans prime rib was tasty and juicy but filled with sinew, making it hard to cut. Of all the things ordered at the table, the teriyaki steak seemed to be the option in taste and price. It looked cooked well and most people at the table said it was flavorful. Our steaks also came with steamed veggies but ours were all cold. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is the salad bar. Every entrée comes with the salad bar and garlic bread. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful salad bar at Buzz’s. All the normal salad bar stuff was there but there was also different marinated and pickled veggies, AVOCADO [like a giant bowl and you can take as much as you want], spinach, mixed local greens, etc. They were also toasting garlic bread for you to take as well. It was honestly the best salad bar I have seen/experienced in a long time and I wish I had just eaten avocado on garlic bread all night. Moral of the story: the salad bar at $ 12.95 is probably the best thing you order.
