I can’t recommend this company unless you live very close to one of their offices and plan to drop in every couple of months when something isn’t working, because having them come to you will cost you a fortune. When we first had our fence installed, we were very pleased. The person came out, installed the fence(mostly) where we had asked, trained our dogs for us and taught us how to train them and the fence worked. The sales guy had promised something the trainer said couldn’t be done, but we got really upset(it was the reason we’d decided to go with their company) so he called his boss and worked something out that basically did the same thing as promised and didn’t charge us extra because we hadn’t been told it would cost more. I have no complaints against our trainer/installer. He’s very friendly and good with the dogs, and did what he could to satisfy us. However, last summer, only about four months after installation, we had a lightning strike and a house fire. Our fence’s control box was ruined by the subsequent water. We had Peachtree back out to replace it. Since then, it has not worked as well as it did at first. The first time it wasn’t working, it was only a month after the reinstallation so we thought maybe it had been incorrectly installed or something. We called the company, and they informed us that they could come out and take a look at it, but it would cost us nearly $ 100 for a house-call. I was furious, but Peachtree wouldn’t budge and insurance agreed to pay, so we had them back out. It turned out that the new system had a software update that had not been given to our(older) collars, and so it was their error. They charged us the $ 100 anyway, saying that we could have brought the collars in and they would have been able to determine that was the problem without sending their guy out. Seriously. They made a major mistake, and charged us because we didn’t recognize it as a collar problem and waste our own time going in. Since then, my large dog has run the fence repeatedly. He always runs through a specific spot in our yard. I took the collar out to that spot and wasn’t getting a shock either, so I called them out again. The guy walked the fence-line, assured us everything was working, and charged us another $ 100. He showed us how you do get a shock if you hold the collar low and move it slowly over the spot, but my dog is big and he doesn’t move slowly, so I’m not sure whether the collar is actually working when he’s wearing it or just when you hold it to the ground, but the trainer did offer to crank up the shock on that collar for us, and we took what we could get. Since then, my dog has run the fence several more times, through that same place and another spot in our back yard. The battery in the collar is fine. I called back out, and they said they could come again, but it would be another $ 100, or I can drive the over an hour round-trip and bring in the collar and they can check it to see if it is their error again. That’s probably what I’ll have to do… Look, I don’t know what’s wrong with my fence. Maybe it’s not the fence at all, it’s my dog, and he needs to be trained further or he can’t feel the shock or something. I have no idea, as I’m not an expert. In any case, the Peachtree electric fence comes with a pretty price tag and a guarantee — you can count on paying a lot of money any time you have any sort of trouble with your system — even if the problem is their fault.
