I’ve a had year now to get more familiar with Glen and Gremlin and I’ve changed my opinions some. While I still feel they’re pricey, and I can’t get to 5 because of the sampling costs, I am more willing to pay the higher prices from time to time due to the selection and the expertise. He has expanded his bottles and cans offering which is a huge plus in my book. Sometimes I’m not feeling what’s on draft or wanting to pay the premium and have plenty to choose from. They also are so unbelievably knowledgable that it blows my mind. I really think I reviewed on price alone last time without having the full story. My opinion is definitely changed, hence the review update.

Fantastic growler store. The owner was very knowledgeable about the beer and about as enthusiastic as I am about finding the best beer around! They have fun events, a killer selection of bottles, cans and bombers. They run the best beer equipment(Micromatic) and have it set up so they can still talk to you while poring a beer, which is a well thought out touch. They also sold me some growler caps when I was in a pinch — very cool! We got the Dankosaurus in cans — delicious and strong on the pine flavor. Looking forward to going back on my next visit to PTC!

The staff at Gremlin Growlers is awesome and somehow only barely better than the revolving selection of brews to be sampled. This place is clean, the vibe is cool and prices are reasonable. Make sure you stop by next time you’re in PTC.

Stumbled across this place while going to dinner in P’tree City. It is nice and clean with good collection of beers, if not in numbers than at least in quality with Georgia breweries well represented. But, as another review mentioned, the owner comes across as pretentious and pedantic, very quick to claim how he and his partners«changed Georgia laws»(darn, I though that was the Legislature’s job) and how they were the first growler bar on the south side of Atlanta(okay, so?) and how ALL his servers are«certified cicerone». Seriously, I don’t care and I don’t like being lectured to when I want beer. Answer questions, but to have some girl who’s barely been drinking a couple years talk about how«we call» such and such beer so and so is pretty off putting. Maybe hipsters dig this, I don’t know, but I’ve been drinking good beer longer than either of the«draft masters»(what the hell is a «draft master»?) has been alive and was reading Michael Jackson and James Robertson books on beer 30 years ago. Again, answer questions, don’t lecture. Oh, and paying for«samples» — well, maybe it is a P’tree City ordinance, I wouldn’t know — but a sign with the ordinance number on it would help. That was the first Growler place I’ve ever been to that did that. Also, their prices seemed a little high to me. I’ve been to a bunch of growler places, in Georgia and other states, and they were the highest priced I’ve seen. If you’re in the town and need a growler filled, I guess they’re the place to go, but no reason for a special trip.

Gremlin Growlers Is Not A Bar. GA law is particularly precise about alcohol distribution w/in the state. Much effort went into even being *permitted* to allow customers to sample in-store stock. This young location may not have«the best» by int’l standards, and not everyone is lucky enough to have had fresh brews in Europe, but they do get some of the region’s best. If I am ‘trapped’ w/Gremlin as a beer source, let them throw away the key!

This place is awesome if you love beer and love spending $ 2 per shot of beer to taste test to determine what beer you want. They have a bunch of choices on tap. Be careful how many beers you ask to sample, as they charge you $ 2 for EVERY shot of beer you try. I went yesterday and bought a 32oz growler and ended up with an $ 18 bill. First, like I said, you pay for the taste testing, you pay for the growler itself, and then you pay for the beer. I was never told I was going to be charged for the taste testing and they just racked it up on my bill. Next time I go, I will just have to guess what beer I want and bring my growler, this way I can hopefully keep the price below $ 10 for 32oz. of beer. The problem with charging $ 2 per shot of beer is how am I going to know what beer I want. Part of the appeal to me, was trying the different beers and then picking which one I liked best. Now that I know they charge you for every test, some of that appeal is gone. The owner is very friendly, as is the entire staff. The store is great, don’t get me wrong. I will go back, but I will just have to guess what beer I want if they continue to charge $ 2 for every 1oz. taste test.

They ought to change the name to booty hole brewers because it smells like ass is being brewed up in there! If you like the smell of brown balloon knots and air biscuits being exhausted from butt trumpets then you will love this place! If you like your beer poured out of a blinking brown eye then drink up! What’s up with the guy with mittens without fingers it smells like he wiped his ass after he number 2’d and it was stuck on his mittens and he wiped them on the taps! Are the bottles recycled doggie doodoo bags?

If you are in the mood for some fine crafted beers, this is the place. Let me explain the concept. You go to the store, purchase one or two«starter growlers»(32 oz. or 64 oz. bottles) for $ 5 a piece(kind of like a one-time deposit). You then fill those growlers with delicious crafted beer from one of many small and micro-breweries from across the US. You then take your growler home and enjoy some awesome beer from the comfort of your couch, party, or whatever. Not sure which beer to pick? No problem. The beer dudes are super-knowledgeable and can describe the beers they have on tap in such a way that you’ll want to buy them all! When you’ve emptied your growler, you can then bring it back to the store and either get another of the same size or trade up/down to another size. They are tapping fresh kegs daily and the selection is second to none. IPA’s, porters, stouts, Belgian darks, you name it. It’s like going to an ever-changing beer buffet. You can’t yet sample the beers on tap, but GG has already submitted a proposal ordinance to the PTC council, who will hopefully vote soon to pass it. This is a great little place, with its own ambience, knowledgable and polite staff, and of course awesome beer. If you’re anywhere around PTC, stop in and check them out. I promise after one growler, you’ll be hooked! I am forever a loyal customer.
