I submitted an on-line quote to have our newly installed deck stained and sealed. No response. It took several emails to even have them acknowledge the receipt of the quote. Once acknowledged it took many, many emails to get the owner to call me to discuss and take it to the next step. Just when I was about to give up, I received a call. Michael informed me that my on-line quote was accurate($ 699), however because the deck was on the 2nd floor it would cost an additional $ 250 to rent scaffolding. I accepted($ 949). The job was completed as agreed however no scaffolding was used. Just out of curiosity, I questioned Nicole the project manager and she informed me that they don’t charge for scaffolding if required so she would have to speak to the owner. Two months go by and I get many apologetic emails from Nicole but nothing from owner. Finally after two months I receive a voice mail from Michael and he says that he misspoke originally in that they don’t rent scaffolding but charge the extra $ 250 if their employees need to use a ladder. At this point I laughed and gave up. I knew there was no amicable resolution. My original hope to set up an annual maintenance contract was scratched. Bottom line, my job was not worth their time so they needed to sweeten the deal. Shame on them.

Just like Jaivin A. — I used their website to get a quote online & then requested that they call me to schedule the work. A week went by, and no one contacted me. So I called the office and was immediately connected to a very nice person who apologized profusely, took all my info(phone, e-mail, home address), and said I’d hear from someone by the next day. That was last week, and I still haven’t heard anything from anyone.

I have been totally thrilled with the job done on my deck. I’ve used Seal-A-Deck twice now and consistently found workers conscientious, time efficient and generally nice guys. It’s a large redwood deck that presented multiple problem. I was so disappointed with other contractors over the years that I neglected the deck. There were popping boards, deep stains and it was very weathered. The finished deck looked good but not great, needing an additional coat as the dry wood just sucked in the stain. Seal-A-Deck came right back, no charge and put in time and material. The result was gorgeous. I highly recommend them, having used them again this Spring. Great work and the integrity to stand behind it.

Called to get some info and an estimate. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to pick up at their 800 clearing house I gave my info and was told someone would get back to me. 2 days later, still waiting. I called today to find out what’s going on, and am told it usually takes 2 – 7 days for someone to get back to you. Thanks, but no thanks. Reminder to stick with a small independent contractor
