Gallo Nero

What a delicious meal! We haven’t been to Gallo Nero since it was renovated and the interior is so much nicer! There is a large bar with lots of seats, that was completely packed when we got there. Gallo Nero now has a full liquor license and an expanded menu that came along with the renovations, both pluses. Our waitress was super friendly and helped to make our dining experience positive. Initially, we were served dinner rolls which were toasted and nothing too special, except the house made garlic olive oil they serve with the bread is so delicious, you want to keep eating more and more! I started with the homemade chicken lemon rice soup ($ 2.50) which was nice and hearty, containing lots of rice and white meat chicken. There was a subtle lemon flavor, but not overpowering. It was very enjoyable on this cold night! For our meal, we ordered the Classsico Pizza ($ 10.79), which was a delicious pizza topped with a sweet tomato sauce, romano and mozzarella cheese. The crust was doughy and the cheese was gooey… the perfect way to eat a pizza. We also ordered the Roasted Eggplant Ravioli Alla Margarita ($ 13.29) which came with a salad of our choice. We ordered the Caesar salad which was your typical Caesar salad with romaine, parmesan and croutons and a nice creamy dressing. The ravioli was served to us steaming hot, fresh out of the kitchen! The pasta was perfectly al dente and the filling was a flavorful eggplant and cheese mixture, smothered in a sweet tomato sauce with melted balls of fresh mozzarella. It almost tasted like a lightened up eggplant parmesan in a way, with the eggplant, cheese and sauce– without the fried part. It was very enjoyable. The waitress was able to sell us on the cannoli for dessert as soon as she told us the filling is homemade. Again, another delicious item here at Gallo Nero. We were pleasantly stuffed, and will definitely be back!

Oh my gosh, the best Alfredo I’ve had in a while! It’s so tough to find a place that will do cut up cutlets in my chicken ziti and broccoli Alfredo, but Gallo did it-​it was amazing! My boyfriend always gets the chicken parm sub, he loves it! Great place!

My husband ordered a gluten free pizza. It was the worst tasting pizza he had ever had. The gluten free frozen pizza we get from the supermarket was far better than this one! I ordered a small carmelized onion and eggplant pizza. The onions were NOT carmelized, just soggy and tasteless as was the eggplant. They claim brick oven pizza… I doubt it. A total waste of money. First time ordering there. We will never go back!

Just walked in, NOBODY was in this place. Yet NOBODY bothered to greet me. Staff looked at me and continued with what they were doing. Yet I waited a few more minutes grabbed a menu and again nobody said a thing to me. As I began to walk away someone raced to say hello to me. NO THANK YOU. good bye!

Used to love this place
The little girl that answers the phone put me on hold for about 30 seconds and hung up on me. I say little because she must be to exude such ignorance and/​or carelessness. I continued to call back literally non stop on both phone lines for 20 minutes (didn’t even realize it was that long until I checked phones history) with no answer, not even to put me on hold. I then called from a different number and she answered, asking for my order, which I did not place. I called back from my phone again after that with no answer. Clearly they have caller ID and she felt bad after accidentally hanging up on me, but ignoring me did not fix the issue. You have now lost a 5 year old customer. Congratulations.

Solid place for solid food! The Staff is attentive & friendly. The place always seems busy and it shoukd be as the food is really good.

Used to be my FAVORITE place. Loved the wheat pizzas with amazing toppings. Recently the last pizza I got was WAY below par. I was actually a bit embarrassed that I so strongly recommended it for friends. New management? Bad day?

I love the pizza here, I haven’t had anything else on the menu but I can only imagine it’s great, the pizzas sure are. Plus the staff is always nice and treat you like part of their family.

The food is very good here and the people are nice. There are never many people eating in the restaurant when I go in there, but don’t let that fool you. They have tons of take out and delivery customers.
I have enjoyed everything that I have eaten from here, from salads to pasta to pizza. The pizza is the best I have been able to find in Peabody.
The only downside is that they don’t deliver to where I live :(

im here on vacation from cali… came here with my bae… ordered a bowl of chicken lemon soup and tropicana pizza which was bbq chicken bacon fresh mozzarella pineapple and creamsauce… the soup waw

This was the worst pizza ever. The cheese was burnt and the pizza was delivered cold as ice. When I called them the manager he said I don’t care. I’m busy. I can’t help and hung up the phone on me. DONT ORDER FROM. HERE THEY ARE REAL BAD. FIOD IS TERRIBLE AND THE SERVICE IS WORSE. IMAGINE the manager saying I don’t care I’m busy. Really. Never order from them again. This place should go out of business

Up until today we were loyal customers… Called at 6:15… They said 45 – 60. Called after hour and a half, said it was on road, called 20 min after that, told same thing, called 20 min and they said they would call driver. Got a call back saying they have no record of my order. Really, after 2+ hours and three phone calls NOW you tell me. I asked that I get a credit for next time and he refused. Said I must have called wrong place. I told him I was a regular customer and I would never go there again and hung up.

I previously loved this place but they CONSTANTLY get my order wrong. It is more likely that they will get it wrong than get it right.
They recently put carrots on my pizza!!! We ordered a bacon and ricotta pizza and when my boyfriend got there they thought he ordered bacon and carrots–
is that a normal topping? Does that make more sense than ricotta?
The woman then began to give my boyfriend a hard time so out of frustration he accepted this carrot pizza which they made him PAY FOR.
When he told me I called and I said that there was a mistake with our pizza and the woman says «ya so do you think he forgot something here?» And I said no… There were CARROTS on my pizza which we did not order— the woman’s response was «well we told him» which made me angry so I responded that telling him doesn’t make it taste better and doesn’t make me want to eat carrots on a pizza
They eventually put the manger on and he said I could drive all the way back to get a new pizza, so I did (which honestly was the last thing I wanted to do after getting out of work at 8). And one of the main women there looked extremely angry when I went in to get the new pizza but she is always unpleasant so I guess it wasn’t any different than usual

Just moved to the area and needed a go to pizza place. Couldn’t find a menu online which was a bummer but we winged it. Perfect pizza perfect crust n sauce. Delivered hot and ahead of time given on a Friday night. Yummy yummy. Didn’t break the bank either. Already planning our next order.

The best! I could go on & on about why, but go see for yourself! My absolute go to place when I don’t have time to cook or just feel like take out. Everything is delicious & the staff is always so nice & has a neighborhood family feel.

I’ve had pizza from Gallo Nero Pizza at least 10 times, we live near it, so it’s very convenient.
I have had the white pizza, Margherita Pizza and just a plain cheese (for my niece and nephews).
I’ve liked all of them, they were all very good. Crust is always nice and chewy and crispy at the same time.
Their red sauce is a sweet sauce, so I’m a fan of that type of sauce.
My husband also really enjoys their steak & cheese sub, shaved steak.
This is mostly a take out place, as they only have a couple of seats inside.

Excellent thin-​crust pizza, the whole family loves it. We are take-​out or delivery diners as opposed to dine-​in and the staff is very accommodating. I always order a minestrone soup also and it is delicious.

This place was not good at all. How does a «pizza» place mess up pizza? I live a total of 7 minutes away from this place. It took them 1 hr and 35 minutes to get my food to me. I called 3 separate times to find out what the hold up was. First call, they «lost» my order. Then said it will be there in 20 mins…30 mins goes by… still no food… called again. Said driver just left and will be there in 5. Guess what? 20 mins… no driver. By the time the food… if u can call it that arrived. It was soggy and ice cold. No apology OR explanation from the driver or the manager in duty. Couldn’t even eat the food it had been sitting out so long before they brought it too me, took ONE bite of a slice. and that was it. No need to come back here.

Tablecloth in a pizza joint?
Service with a smile… and a level of professional expected high end restaurant?
Minestrone soup? Delicately seasoned…
Gluten free pasta? Basically indistinguishable from the wheat based variety…
Steak salad? Very fresh and the steak was marinated to cut with a fork and melt in your mouth!
This place has to be checked out to believe.
Next time you want a dress down dinner par excellence, then this place should go on the short list!

I’ve moved recently, and rediscovered Gallo Nero after a several years absence. There is a dearth of good pizza around here. Gallo Nero is definitely among the best. Check out some of their specialty pies. The margherita with chicken is delicious. The gardenia is excellent too, loaded with fresh veggies.
Parking is a mess. The lot behind the building appears (based on the comical signs on every single space threatening a tow) to be assigned to each business. Street isn’t easy either.
The place is a little odd. It’s basically half takeout pizza joint, and half sit down table service with white table cloths, but in a pizza house sort of setting. I’m not sure what to make of it. The benefit to that is that they offer full entrees as well as your standard pizza place fare.
