Skip to the last paragraph if you want the basics. ;-) I’d decided weeks ago to stay over in the tiny town of Paxton during my road trip. I’ve been on a margarita kick trying them at most any establishment I can so of course I had to find a Mexican restaurant. The 2 Unilocal reviews were great so I knew where I was going before I even hit the road. Arriving at 9pm I was concerned they’d give me the bums rush to get me out and on my way since they close at 10:00. Let me say I likely wouldn’t have went in if not for the positive reviews and mentioning of the not so special appearance. It’s off the main street and there were only 2 cars present.(Again, 9pm) The place is as simple as it gets. I can’t even say I recall any semblance of Mexican décor. I asked the young girl at the counter if they were still serving and with a very eager«oh, yes, of course» I was led to a booth. Clean, the place was very clean. My beagle boy was waiting in the car for me so I planned a very quick meal and we were tired and ready to call it a day so I only skimmed the menu. There are many things to choose from. Combination dinners of every type and very reasonably priced. I mention this as I like to order meals with variety. I don’t want 3 identical enchiladas. Boring… The server took my drink order, mango margarita on the rocks no salt, and said she’d be back with chips. I’d decided I’d get nachos so I nixed the chips and salsa. That was stupid as I should’ve tried the salsa. Duh… Anyway, I ordered the top nachos option, sorry I can’t remember the name. It was half shredded chicken/half ground beef with refried beans, queso cheese, shredded lettuce and sour cream. I added guacamole. The margarita was average. Smooth and not overly sweet which is at times hard to find in a flavored margarita. The nachos were pretty good. More like a nacho salad. I hadn’t realized how hungry I was until I’d scraped the plate clean. :-) It definitely was enough for a one person meal. This is «authentic» Mexican food so it’s a bit bland. If you’re looking for TexMex this isn’t for you. Being from Oklahoma I know my Mexican food. As for my 4 stars I’ll say the food and atmosphere are likely a 3, but given the time of night and the friendly attentive service I received I have to throw in a extra star for that. I even tipped $ 5.78 on a $ 12.22 tab strictly for friendly eager service.

This was my first time visiting Pueblo Lindo. I ordered a chimichanga meal with beans and rice along with chips and salsa and cheese sauce. I was very surprised. It was delicious!!! I recently visited A Mexican restaurant in Rantoul Illinois called«Sol Azteca» and it was horrible. It was disgusting. Very happy with Pueblo Lindo. Delicious food and the lady behind the counter was very nice and personable! I will be going back!!!

Excellent mexican food. Lots of tables but not fancy. We just moved full time down here from Chicago(Bucktown) & food is as good as standard mexican fare anywhere in Chicago IME. Great burrotos, enchilada suizas, flautas(although they have a different name for them & you have to ask as they arent on the menu anymore). Best taco chips I’ve ever had, very light. Excellent guacamole(there is little or no cilantro & that’s how I like it). For those who care, they serve beers, margaritas & I assume a full bar menu of drinks. Good restaurants are a little hard to find down here & I thank my lucky stars that this one opened close to us! Good Mexican food in Rantoul & takeout in Onarga but this is better!

Authentic everyday Mexican food. Chips and salsa were good but not anything earth shattering so we ordered some cheese dip. After all, everything is better with cheese. For our meal, I got the carnitas special of the day. The pork on it was fabulous and the potion was enough to have 2 lunch sized leftovers. I ordered corn tortillas with my meal and got them. My husband ordered chicken fajitas with a side of shredded cheese. The meat portion of his meal arrived at our table 5 – 8 minutes before his flour tortillas so the sizzling goodness was lost before he got to eat anything. The fajitas were cooked and presented well but didn’t have much, if any seasoning on them. Our meal came in at just under $ 30 with 2 cokes. I’m sure we will be back but I am still looking for a local Mexican restaurant that serves my beloved sopes.
