I’ve been going to Claire’s for years, it is simply the best nursery in the area. They always have something new that I have to have! Their staff is patient and knowledgable.

I like to buy local, especially if the staff/employees/owner are pleasant and helpful. At Claire’s one gets the feeling that everyone working there knows lots about living/planting/growing/climate. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty, interrupt the maintenance chore they are presently taking care of or go the extra step to make your plant buying experience stress free. Slightly more expensive than Home Depot, but the quality of the plants is superior. I like the whole recycling of the pots — it makes you feel like they’re trying to keep the cost down. And the complimentary gum drop at the cashier counter makes the paying more interesting — watchout — they’re spicy not fruity!

Best place in the area for flowers, veggies, herbs, garden supplies and ornaments. And all at very good prices. You don’t get sweatshop GMO plants here, but local and organic instead. That makes it well worth the prices, which are very reasonable, albeit not as low as places like Home Depot. If you don’t care about quality go there, if you do care, then see Clare! Only area where Clare’s lack is in trees and shrubs. They also do not have a great supply of fertilizer, soil, and mulch. Locust Glen up the road on Rt. 37 has you covered in those departments. But still, everything Clare’s DOES do is top notch!
