The restaurant is clean and small, but definitely off the beaten path. The ladies are attentive, super friendly, and heavy handed with the portions. There are some tables, but I usually get food to go. The owner definitely caters to the working class citizens of the neighborhood. And for the price though– totally worth the trip. The empanadas are $ 1 each and just delicious. My favorite are the beef, though the chicken is also excellent and the cheese with guava is as well. These have the best homemade crust I’ve ever had. And they serve them in a brown paper bag to go so even if you have to reheat them they still stay crisp. For $ 4 you get ¼ of a chicken(the skin is amazing and you can tell it’s been cooked with care), your choice of white or yellow rice, and your choice of red or black beans. I always have enough for a full leftover meal. The restaurant isn’t open late– probably because the area isn’t the greatest, but it’s worth the trip.
