Seems to be a popular choice for visitors to the Paso Robles area, yet HIGHLY overrated in terms of service and experience. While the atmosphere(look of the tasting room and view) are great, expect inattentive, disengaged wine pourers and unpleasant food staff. We were given about half a swallow of wine per pour(if that) and the pourer didn’t even bother to tell us about what we were tasting. «Here’s the first red,» for some reason left me wanting… go figure?! One of those places where pourers fail to take you seriously and brush you off the moment they lay eyes on you. Waited about 50 minutes for food from a server who seemed like she had better things to do. What a disappointment. Definitely going to pass on Grey Wolf and their(apparently) associated Tooth and Nail winery in the future.

Highly recommend that you make an effort to visit Grey Wolf Winery anytime you are headed South from Paso Robles or on your way to Cambria. Very friendly family with great wine tastings at reasonable prices. My wife thinks their Chardonnay is the best. You will enjoy your stop for sure, not only the wine tasting but the friendly Barton family.

HIGHLYRECOMMENDED: After 2 lousy wine tastings near Cambria, coming to Grey Wolf was the treat I needed. All of their wines are outstanding and the tasting itself is worth the trip. The lady behind the bar was knowledgeable, personable and a reader of people. Plus, she knew she had the good stuff. Well worth the time and effort to get here and be sure to take some home with you to remember what a good time you had there!

Shelly was a great host even though she was slammed with people. The selection was very deep and well poured. A definite return.

WOW … what an extraordinary tasting, nothing that I did not like. The fact that they had food available too was an unexpected bonus. Although the dogs will beg for food, don’t give in.

This is a quaint winery out in Paso Robles. The tasting was reasonably priced and our server was friendly. The wine maker happened to be in so we got to taste 2 wines not on the tasting list which was awesome. It felt a little rushed(maybe because it was close to closing time) but other than that it was a great stop.

Been a club member for years and always love to stop at this winery when in the area. Great little place and the staff is always so welcoming

We enjoyed our visit to Grey Wolf/Barton Winery. They have a very nice tasting room. The woman who served us was very pleasant and informative about the wines and the area. The $ 7 tasting fee is waived with a purchase. Would recommend you consider Grey Wolf if you have not been there.

Although the wine wasn’t our favorite, I believe that is individual preferences and doesn’t affect my ratings. The tasting room was very pleasant, our hostess was nice and knowledgeable, and the adjoining food shack were all great. We would likely come back to to try a different selection of wines.

Don’t bother the wine is too commercialized and flat. You will mostly be disappointed. And the lady behind the bar who spends all her time flirting with the married men instead of explaining the mediocre wine won’t add much to your trip. It’s bad when I would rather pay for two tastings then pay for a bottle. But like most things the people you interact with make the experience and this lady just made it bad as we put her out by showing up.

After much online research before our trip, Grey Wolf/Barton was one of the top wineries to visit on our list. It was easy to find on Hwy 46 on our way to Cambria from Paso Robles. The winery is cute, and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Tastings are $ 7pp, but if you buy one bottle of wine, you get one tasting fee waived, but not both(just FYI). Their wines were all very tasty, but the big surprise was the Chenin Blanc. Surprising in that my hubby, who does not like whites, really liked this wine. So much so, that we bought a bottle. The nice thing about this wine is that it was kinda tart and lemony, which you caught on the back end. It was lovely. Highly recommend!

Cute little winery with different outdoor seating options. We took our extremely shy and anxious dog here and the Grey Wolf dogs, although curious, respectfully kept their distances. The tasting fee is $ 7 and waived with a bottle purchase. A couple of wines we were interested in weren’t on the tasting menu, but when we asked about them, they were kind enough to give us a taste. It would have been nice if the staff explained a little bit more about each pour, but there was a big group and they were busy. The Grey Wolf wines have very cool labels!

I was extremely unimpressed with the service. The woman who was pouring for us was unfriendly and inefficient. I will not be returning. However, the people who work the café in the back were great. The food was wonderful.

What a cute little winery!!! We were referred to Grey Wolf from a friend who is a wine specialist. He said that even though this winery isn’t one of the largest and most popular places to wine taste, they have incredible wines. We were glad we stopped by. Tastings were reasonable priced and we were there during the week so it wasn’t busy. When you walk in you are greeted by 2 of the sweetest dogs!!! We couldn’t stop playing with them during our stay. We did try both the reds and whites. They didn’t a couple of the wines, so we were only able to taste a few on the list. They had a total of 5 to choose from. Wines range from $ 20-$ 32. The list isn’t extensive either. We didn’t purchase any wines, but this was a great stop along the PR wineries.

Yum. Fun winery. Great tasting room. Good wine. I think the Grey Wolf Lineage is excellent. Outside seating… Lots of shade.

Tasting was $ 7. Our pourer was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines an how they got their names. They also had some adorable dogs. We thought their whites were nothing to write home about. Their reds are the way to go here. I thought Simple Man was good. It has a peppery taste at first, but a smooth finish. I also like Soulmate and Lineage, but I’d definitely recommend Simple Man.

We stopped in mid-week for a tasting and Shelley was very knowledgeable and fun! We bought a mixed case of wine and really love it. The Zincab is a great value at $ 20 and in fact we just drank a «Tundra» last night, which was delicious!

This was our first trip to a winery in Paso. We had such a great time we will be going back for sure. Mariana was doing our tasting, she is GREAT! She taught us so much about the different wines, grapes and how they are harvested. Plus she is just a very sweet pleasant person! Se made our experience so wonderful we signed up for the wine membership before we left. Our favorite; the Barton label wines.

$ 5 for a tasting — you can choose how many you want to taste(1 star for that!) I tried 2 whites &5 reds & wasn’t impressed with any of them. The 1st white had no taste & the reds seemed too tannic or harsh. The place is cute — a converted house to a tasting room. Easy to find & they obviously have a good following as there were 2 parties that came in that visit every year & are part of the wine club.
