We rolled up a few minutes before closing and felt kinda like jerks. The owner told us she had dinner reservations but would do a quick pour if that was okay. We graciously agreed but were impressed when she didn’t rush us at all and was incredibly hospitable. The wines were wonderful, we purchased a few bottles, pet the cute cat and and said adieu.

Favorite winery in Paso. All of my extended family members are wine club members. No frills, good wine, great people. Worth the drive.

This place was recommended by a pourer at another winery and I’m so glad they did! It’s not the easiest place to find, just keep fallowing the signs and you will get there. It’s a small boutique family run winery. While we tasted we got to speak to the wine maker which was great. They also had delicious Olive Oil, jam, and salt which were all delicious. The winery also has an adorable cat who greets you upon arrival. A nice stop especially if you want to get away from the commercial wineries.

The tasting room is a basically a working room for the winery. Most of the wines were good, especially the Crianza, Syrah, and Malbec. We would have joined their club but they wanted us to buy three most expensive wines, which were not even our favorites. I bought separate bottles of the Crianza and Syrah and would do so again, but they should rethink their wine club and the tasting room is most basic.

The Six of us started out at Hunt Winery and we asked Bob(taste-server) where he’d recommend we visit… Dubost was one of three he mentioned. It’s back near Justin and we’re so glad we drove up the long gravel driveway to see their charming, friendly family run business. Kate Dubost happened to be on-site and took the time to show us around their small operation. Wines were really good. Really. What we appreciated seeing their barrels of wine and learning about the challenges of running a small winery. I’d recommend in a heart-beat. We purchased more than 6 bottles and received 20% off per their incentive. Stop in, you’ll enjoy it. Cheers. J&MJ, Edina MN T&S, Newport Beach G&K, Lakeville MN

This is definitely a winery that you should visit. Smaller boutique winery that is not on any map consisting of great personalities and fabulous wines. Enjoyed the chance we had to speak with Kate as well…

My boyfriend and I went to this winery for our 7 year anniversary and we fell in love with how cozy it was and better yet how good each wine tasted. We went here because my boyfriends brother knew one of the sons working their, but what we didn’t expect was that we were going to love every wine we had. I liked other wineries we went to location wise, but this was the only winery that I loved the taste of ALL wines and the service. I recommend this winery to anyone visiting this area. The hospitality as well of the beautiful lady was so sweet and generous. We bought a container of her Jelly to take back home to San Diego and we are fighting over eating it. :)

Dubost is absolutely amazing! My mom was a memeber here for 6 years. She volunteered every once in a while. My mom passed away in April and curt and Kate(the owners) let us spread her ashes there and put a plaque on the tree for my mom. There are also some ashes in a wine bottle on the tree under the plaque. Dubost was bottling that day so my mom would have been so happy we chose that day! Curt, Kate and the volunteers are great, sweet, fun, kind, etc. The wine is also so amazing! Everyone needs to check it out! You won’t be disappointed!

Great little vineyard off the beaten path! The wines were different from all the other vineyards we visited but in a good way! They were very interesting and extremely tasty. My boyfriend bought a bottle but he couldn’t taste it first. They offered to refund his money if he ended up not liking the wine. That’s confidence in the quality of wine! If you drive out to Justin you HAVE to make a stop here as well. Worth making the trip!

Ok looking for a great place and not a crowd? Well this is not the fancy tasting room with the crowds, want that head further down the road to Justin. If you want family run, great wine, stop! This has to be one of those great places to go. Great wine great value and nice people. Not to be missed.

This is truly a must see! We spent an amazing most of the day with Kate(the Prez) and Ree. We immediately were made to feel not just at home but like long lost family. Just an amazing time. THIS is why you come to Paso, THIS is what you hope to find everywhere and anywhere you go. Kate is an elegant lady even with boots covered in mud. From the winery tasting room to the garages to the top of the hill. Indescribable. The wines are beautiful, full, well crafted. We especially loved the Viognier and the Reserva. The Tempranillo is a must have in the cellar. Oh, Quit reading and get in the car! You’ll love the wine and the experience … what ever is the next step above love is for Kate!

Stopped off here after a drive through the country side. Fell in love with the driveway and felt like we had to drive down it to see what lay ahead. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. Got to meet the wine maker and being a novice to wine, I did not feel overpowered by technical terms. Felt like we were a part of the family, not too mention, the wine is soooo good. Love the negrette and LOVED thier Viognier! I don’t even like white wine! Give this place a try, it is so worth it.

Great drive in the country and a great winery. They’re relatively new, with a minimal budget for marketing. Don’t miss this«below the radar» winery, not far from Justin. Great people and great wine. Try the Negrette.

This is just the kind of small, family-run winery I come to Paso Robles to visit. The tasting room is really the barrel room, with boxes of wine stacked nearly to the ceiling. It doesn’t have that touristy polish of the big wineries-which is what I like about it! Of course, the wine was also quite good which is nice as it is a winery after all. I really dug meeting the chickens, rooster, and winery cat hanging out in the front. In all, a nice time to chat with a pourer who knows wine and can tell you more than the name of the varietals.

Amazing wine, winery not overrun by wine tasters in a rustic location. I loved it here and I will be back to purchase more wine! Tasting was complimentary which made me want to buy multiple bottles. Well done Dubost Ranch!

Amazing little gem off the beaten path in Paso Wine Country… the wines are very well constructed and the people extremely nice and accommodating, which together made for a great experience on our first visit here… will definitely return before we run out of their olive oil and wine… if you go soon enough you can still purchase some of the Alexandrine white blend… delish :)

Kinda out of the way place, but worth the effort is only for one varietal(explained later). There are signs along the way but you need to keep a sharp eye out. We tasted their entire line-up and would assert they are good to very good wines, with one exception. That one exception was EXCEPTIONAL. We were startled by the full fruit and finish of the Tempranillo. We have tasted Tempranillo across California, in Spain, in Mexico and have never come across a Tempranillo with this full fruit palate combined with a finish that I can only describe as «exotic» with all the complexity and new flavors bursting at the end. Just to make sure it wasn’t my palate playing tricks, I was given their 2007 Tempranillo to compare. The 2008 was more exotic. They made 75 cases from Starr Ranch grapes. It is $ 28 and has 16.5% alcohol. Probably made a mistake that I did not buy enough of it, but they will ship more I feel. Next to the 2004 Adelaide Cabernet Sauvignon, the Dubost 2008 Tempranillo was the most pleasant and prized find on our revisit to the Paso Robles area. They have a big orange cat that has adopted them and sleeps in a basket in the tasting room. There is a story that goes along with how the cat comes to be there, but it is better heard in person — so go to Dubost. 3⁄2014 update — We visit Kate Dubost whenever we are in Paso. She is just too much fun at a tasting. Later in the afternoon, when Kate and we are already loose from a few tastings, we stop and chat with her about her latest products. This time it was her wine jelly which she secured permission to sell as a cottage industry product. We tasted the current line-up of wines which had some new releases. We bought the 2008 Colson Canyon Syrah — it is rich and complex. The latest release is an Estate Cuvee(only estate grapes) and it is unbelievably good. I got mine, but you better hurry — it is going fast. Ask Kate to show you the Angry Birds balloons 5⁄2015 update: Bought 2010 Malbec, 2010 Reconciliation, 2011 Zinfandel and 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. 1⁄2016 update — DuBost has built a strong line-up of wines over the years. Each with care to express and exploit the varietal being used. Examples are their Carménère and Cabernet Pfeiffer. Buy them while you still can. Got more of the Reconciliation — awesome wine with all six Bordeaux varietals in it. Their new tasting room and patio is almost ready.

Our favorite wine and the reason we came to Paso Robles! We went to a fancy wine tasting event on Rodeo Drive, of many different Paso wines, and we kept coming back to the Dubost table. We did not forget the Petite Sirah… at least the taste. Months later, we took our first trip without child, to Paso Robles, and planned it around a visit to Dubost. We got to have them all to ourselves… and several tastes of their superb olive oil! We tasted several of their wines, and again, after tasting several of their wines, it was still their Petite Sirah that spoke to me… love that wine! We spent a few hours there, and were taken on a tour of their vineyard, barrels, etc… This is exactly the type of winery we like– unpretentious, small, family-run, personable, and all of that is transmitted in their wine… Thank you Zack and Kate Dubost!

My husband and I love Dubost! We first stumbled in while on our honeymoon last year. We were greeted by a husband and wife team Kate and Curt. Their son is the winemaker for Dubost. We left with several bottles of some great Syrah, Tempranillo, and Homestead red. We have been back a few times since and are now wine club members. The wine is great and the family makes the tasting room experience priceless. The only disadvantage… It is a little difficult to find and they aren’t on the wine map. I would recommend Dubost for sure.

Small spot with affordable wines. 3.4 stars Cost to worth it rating: 3 Return worthiness: sure Highlights: — Nice lady pouring and chatting with us — Logo: I like it with the spread out tree — Simple tasting room: 2 long tasting tables and rest wine storage — Walnuts and dried persimmons — Inexpensive and good table wine Lowlights: — Were in between harvests so limited items to taste Nice no frills spot – I’d cone back to try their other wines.
