If the rumors were true then this is a moot review since this was the restaurant’s last day in business. If true that is sad because this was an incredible lunch experience and some local flavor that anyone, even an outsider, would appreciate savoring. The original Petit Bois was in Gautier and hence, this was the second one as the name indicates. This restaurant was a recipient of a reward for revitalizing the area by opening and drawing in people to the historical area. They also have(had?) some of the nicest waitstaff I have ever met. And the chalkboard in front with all of the daily specials, that they cross out with chalk as they run out of things, just adds more charm. The menu is large and diverse, it is not just chicken or shrimp. It can be prepared numerous different ways and in a salad, on a plate, or in a lunch basket, and then the additional add-ons like the soups and other things. Fried green tomatoes: I have never actually eaten one before, though I did the see film numerous times. This was definitely a treat. They were not thickly breaded when fried, it was a light bit that was«flash fried»(I believe is the correct term) at a much higher temperature oil than the regular method. At any rate the taste and texture are fantastic, this is a local treat that I wish I had tried back in junior high the first time I saw that film. Buffalo shrimp lunch basket: probably one of the best shrimp meals I have ever had. The Forrest Gump scene where Bubba names off every single type of shrimp ran through my head and I was trying to determine if Bubba had actually named off buffalo shrimp, or if I just thought he had since he seemed like a completely thorough and methodical sort of person. At any rate, buffalo shrimp is quite fantastic. It fuses some of my favorite flavors and dipping sauces, smears some of the flavory sauce on the fries arranged as a bed underneath the drippy and tasty-looking shrimp, and is just a bright and colorful orange backdrop for the plate and the table. The shrimp is simply delicious and high quality. It is only made better with the buffaloness. The interior is a nice, charming, quirky kind of café with lots of great knick-knacks and it just looks like something ripped out of the fun and happy history of the past. There is no negativity about the place, the waitstaff is superb and friendly, and the food is fantastic. You could not ask for a better lunch place. If this really was the last day in business then the world has unfortunately lost one more great lunch place. And that makes me sad.

I’ve eaten here many times! Never a bad experience! Their fish is always fresh & delicious! Get there early for lunch because they’re ALWAYS packed! They’re only open select nights, which makes sense for Pascagoula.
