Willie’s Grill & Icehouse

Personal favorite when I’m in Houston! Ideal if you have kids since it’s casual and has fun stuff for them — sandboxes, arcades, washers. I recommend the non burger items. Burger is good but not unique. Crawfish, fish tacos, Asian chicken salad… all special. Ice cold beer and fun big liquor drinks remind me of Carlos & Charlie’s. Go, you’ll like it.

Hamburgers are very good. My favorite thing is the philly cheese steak. You better be hungry. Its a gigantic sandwich and its soooooo good. Onion rings, queso, chicken fried steak are also very good. Waitstaff is very friendly, and managment is super nice, and helpful. Don’t be afraid to order anything. It all looks great.

I ordered the sirloin steak. It was excellent. The service however was horrible. The server (Jermony) only asked of you needed something as he walked by. Never stopping to wait for an answer. It was not busy so there was no excuse for his treatment. I know they do better so I will return, otherwise he would keep me from returning. The manager had to pick up my check because server never picked it up.

This was my first time here even though it’s only 5 minutes from home. When we first day down, our table was very sticky. I asked the waitress to wipe it down. So I ordered a chicken sandwich (fried). It was a good-​sized piece of chicken but the taste was nothing spectacular. The sandwich was rather large. I couldn’t finish it and I like to eat. We also ordered queso. It was OK. Again, I was not impressed. My boyfriend ordered a burger and he seemed to enjoy it. Overall, the food I ordered was mediocre.
As far as the service, our waitress was not super friendly. Maybe she was annoyed that I asked her to wipe down the table? After dropping off the check, we had to wait a good 15 – 20 mins for her to come back to the table so we could pay for our dinner and leave. The restaurant was not that packed. On our way out, 2 staff members thanked us for coming and said bye. They were much friendlier than our waitress was.
Prices were reasonable. We ordered queso, a burger, a chicken sandwich and 2 sodas. The total was $ 24 after our $ 5 coupon was applied. Not too bad.
I doubt I will be back. It wasn’t a great first impression.

First time I’ve been to this location and second time I’ve been to this restaurant chain. I saw the low star rating but decided to go check it out because of the beautiful weather and low key vibe (casual) is what my daughter and I were looking for.
The staff was friendly, from the one that took our order to the waitress that served us. The food was not bad. I ordered the small chick salad and daughter ordered the bacon burger, plus we had chips and queso. I did get a 14oz St. Arnold’s Lawnmower (no more Blue Moon), which I didn’t care too much for the freshness.
If I’m in the area, I would stop by here again.

Out of town and needed a beer and a burger. Found it here. Beer was ice cold and I ordered a rare rare burger and that’s what I got. Had to send it back because they forgot to put anything else but the burger on the bun lol it wasn’t an issue it came right back out. Service was great the room was great I was a happy guy. I am probably gonna get some to go from here tonight. Try it you’ll like it.

02.06.16, day manager was incredibly rude. If you’re going there for crawfish, be sure to tell them not to over cook them. They were really mushy. Did I mention the manager was rude, on more than one occasion? ??? My brother n law, who never complains, said it was the worst gumbo he has ever had.

Fast service. Good sized portions. Not expensive. Chill atmosphere and enjoyable aesthetics.

Very good place to eat love the employees very nice trust me an employees earned a 50 $ tip from me. will go back anytime love the place and looks it’s the place to eat

Had a great meal here with friends last night. Our table had gumbo, crawfish ettoufe, and the black and blue burger. Food was delish, and our server, Nicole, treated us like royalty. Service is fast and friendly. Love this place!

I had a terrible experience at the Willies restaurant in Pasadena, the wait staff was very rude. I waited an hour to get my food, when it finally came out the gumbo had black residue in the bowl. When I brought this to the waitress attention she seemed to be annoyed and not responsive. I asked to speak with the manager who came to our table to immediately defend the waitress bringing our food out an hour late and implied because we order an appetizer the food was late. I went online to convey my experience and never received a call back from the willies to at least confirm and they are looking into the issue. As far as I am concerned I will never go back to Willies…

Best grilled chicken sandwich period. A must try. Great fries and fried pickles. Really good Asian and Mediterranean salads also.

My wife and I go at least once a week for Compechana !! Its a light Refreshing Shrimp Cocktail I posted the photos !!! Servers have always been great !! I have always seen it be clean and tidy. Only thing I agree with on other reviews is the way you order is ridiculous. Have the staff take my order or have the guy at the counter put it in at that time.

The hotel suggested we try this place. OMG what a disaster, you travel thru a line to place your order and then sit at a table where a waiter looks at you receipt and is then your server, all well and good. But when we got to the counter I ordered the ribs only to be told they had the ribs but NO BBQ sauce. Really at 7:00pm you are out of sauce, hell run to HEB and buy some.
So I ordered the chicken fried steak and as the lady use to say «Where’s the beef» Plenty of coating but not much beef and it came with cold fries.
Next time in Houston I’ll try something different.

I’ve gone here a couple of times including right after my graduation with my family. The staff is always very friendly and they always notice when my drinks a refill or something is off with my food or whatever. I’ve tried their steak, chicken strips, and some seafood and it was all either really good or meh. For example, their steak and their burgers are pretty good and I loved every bite. Their chicken strips were kinda weird. I suppose maybe they bake them because the skin falls right off when you bite and it seems unusually thin and slippery. Overall I really like this place and I visit when I’m okay on money and want a big meal with my friends.

Nice family place. Some local craft beers on tap and in bottles. I’ve only had the burgers here. I especially like the mushroom turkey burger. Lots of televisions with sports on. Very casual. I like the onion rings.

It was ok. The food was average at best and the service I received was not the best had to get up to get my own drink (I didn’t mind) but when the waitress would meet me right at the fountain I figured why can’t you just let me do it my self I’m already here. But other then that the general environment was pretty cool.

I do enjoy this place. The food is tasty, they haven’t overcooked my steak (yet anyway) and the beerritas are awesome!
Yes it’s a dive style place, but that’s what’s cool about it. I can look past that because I’m a damn grown up & I understand the concept. If you need your table wiped, ask someone to do it and they will happily oblige. That’s a more adult reaction than sitting with your arms in it and writing a crappy review. I’ve never had an issue with the food.
The setup is a tad odd and it is a little pricier than it should be but I enjoy it and you will too, unless you’re a whiny complain about everything type or person.

Great customer service. We had an awesome waitress. Food was awesome the fried jalapeños with queso dip YUMMMM! The burger was awesome and the fried pickles I’m still craving. Yes we ate horrible that day…
Other than that the cleanliness is pretty disgusting. I kept sticking to the dirty table. It was pretty gross. Lol. The tables are very close together I could not get through with my babies car seat I literally had to go out the back patio door. I just could not make it through the crowd. It was def packed.

This place is pretty cool. We had great service and the atmosphere is nice.
It’s kind of a weird set up though. You walk in and there’s a large cooler with bottled beer. You pick out a beer and then head to the counter to place your order. But you don’t pay for anything — she just writes it down and you take it to your table (self-​seating) and give it to your waitress. Then she takes care of you the rest of the time. Now that I think about it, it’s kind of a good idea to be able to have your beer in hand in case the waitress is a little slow, but still — strange.
I had the blackened fish tacos — they were just okay. Came with chips and warm salsa — not really my thing. The tacos were pretty bland. The other two people who came with me had the fried catfish and shrimp. There were no exclamations of greatness, but no one really complained either.
This place is pretty pricey. Not so great baja tacos at $ 9 is high to me. Beers seemed to be pretty expensive too, although I don’t know for sure because I didn’t pay the bill (lucky me!) I’d probably find somewhere else to go for this type of food in the future.
