Had a salted caramel pecan pie that was out of this world! The savory hand pies are so freakin good too. Had the chicken and cornbread, shepherd’s pie, mac n cheese and Chorizo and egg. All were super tasty. Bring a full wallet, as nothing is inexpensive here. The pecan pie was $ 42.

The Shepherd’s Pie and Curry Veggie pies were very good, though perhaps the contents were a little over-done. The Apple pie was excellent, and I am very particular about them. It was sweeter than I ordinarily care for(no lemony zing detected) but it was exceptional enough to carry the sweetness and not be overly sugary.

I love piehole, especially their Mexican chocolate pie! If you are a chocolate lover, you will absolutely love this piece of pie! I’m not a big fan of earl grey or apple pie and they both tasted just alright to me but everyone seems to love those 2 so def give those 2 a try if that’s what you’re into. The apple pie can be heated up and they also give you a scoop of ice cream on the side which makes it pretty amazing.

I like this Pie Hole location even better than the downtown location because the employees are so pleasant and there is rarely a line. I think the menus are exactly the same at both locations, but the Pasadena location has a huge plus because there are other food and drink options in the same space. If you feel like being a healthy glutton, you can get a juice from Pressed Juicery located 30 feet away. If you feel like being an ultra glutton, you can get some ice cream from Cool Haus and have your pie a la mode. My favorite savory pie is the chicken and cornbread. It makes a great meal! My favorite sweet pie is the Mexican hot chocolate. It’s rich, but not too rice. It’s sweet but not too sweet. You can’t go wrong if you buy a whole one for $ 36 and bring it to a potluck or a dinner party. My least favorite pie here is bananas foster. The custard is too sweet and tastes a little artificial. One downside is the bathroom situation here. The unisex bathrooms are located downstairs and is shared with other businesses, including Intelligentsia, so the wait for the bathroom can be painfully long sometimes.

Husband & I stopped by for pie lunch. Not the savory but the sweet pies! We have visited the Traction Ave location many times & had our reg favs but he chose the Salted Caramel this time & I chose my reg fav the Earl Grey Tea. Unfortunately, the crust on the Earl Grey was barely baked. Really doughy… not nice. I know it was blind baked but I think the oven temp was tepid. The filling was barely tea flavored… not nice. The Salted Caramel filling was delightful but the crust on this one was a tawny color but the crimped edge was super hard. Not nice. I realize they don’t bake there. Just vend but for $ 7.50 it should be flawless. Or not for sale. I hope the head office reads Unilocal.Maybe they grew too fast &QC is faltering. I’ll still try Traction again to see if it’s affected them.

Stopped by because I had an expired groupon and we were grabbing dinner around the area. On MLK day there were only about 5 sweet pies and 4 savory pies on display. I ended up getting the early grey and the salted caramel pecan pie togo. The salted caramel pecan was the better of the two, but the first few bites were extremely salty. The earl grey was ok, there’s a light tea taste but nothing amazing. Pie crust for both were extremely hard and really pale instead of golden brown. Pretty expensive considering the size of the slices. Maybe I would have enjoyed a savory pie more.

Finally got to check this place out. Earl grey was the best ! the interior is actually very trendy and staff was friendly as well. I also tried a piece of the Mexican chocolate which was similar to pudding in a way.

You may have trouble finding The Pie Hole. They do not have a brick and mortar location in Pasadena. They are located in the back of a building which they share with a couple of other businesses. I had some difficulty locating them, but others did not. They had a long line of customers by the time we left. Fortunately, we came before the line grew too long. My main reason for coming here was to try a slice of their Maple Custard Pie. Unfortunately, they had none that day. So Disappointing!!! I was not about to leave here empty handed so I chose two other kinds instead. Peanut Butter hand pie. Okay, this may not be the real name of the pie. It is not a slice of pie. It is more of a personal sized little pie. Tasted fine, but nothing special. Although, I love peanut butter… after trying this I still prefer regular apple pie.(3 stars) Salted Caramel Pecan Pie. Tasted above average. I would not hesitate to order this one again.(4 stars) Their slices are a bit expensive, but that would not stop me from frequenting their business in the future. Don’t forget to check in on Unilocal!Their current check-in offer was giving folks a Free High Five! How cool is that!

I ended up at the pie hole by chance only because the ramen place next door was super packed, but the Pie Hole was on my list to visit so in the Hole I went. I ordered the Mac n’ cheese hand roll and got a slice of Mexican Pie to go. Let me start by saying this is not a place you go if you want a meal. The non-desert items are more quick on-the-go bites than hearty meals. The Mac was ok. I was picturing something more creamy and cheesy but the bread roll detracts from that. It was dry and not exactly the Mac n’ cheese experience I was craving. They have a beautiful assortment of pie flavors. I have to compliment the Pie Hole on their out of the box thinking and creativity here. They do well in differentiating themselves among other pie places. The Mexican pie was a cookie crust, with a thick chocolatey fudge base that had hints of coffee and cinnamon throughout. It made you think twice about what you were eating the first few bites. It was topped with a fresh whipped cream which cut the rich chocolate/coffee/cinnamon taste. The pie was interesting. I would describe it as a blue collar pie in consistency with refined white collar flavor notes. Overall experience was average. I wouldn’t run back to try another slice, especially since they’re pretty expensive but if I’m in the area I may stop in again.

Another Pie Hole! Like the one in downtown, this place is fantastic. Baked from scratch, the pies are amazing. There’s a decent selection of sweet and savory pies in this tiny stall of a location. Good luck finding a seat, much less a table, in the picnic style seating area that’s shared with five other vendors. I’d normally go with the Mexican chocolate but I decided on the salted caramel pecan and the earl grey pies this time around. Both were terrific but the earl grey is money. THIS is what The Pie Hole is all about! The pie had the perfect amount of that earl grey flavor. It was so good without being too sweet or rich. The modest amount of whipped cream on top had a teeny sprinkling of nuts giving it a pleasant crunch and the flaky crust had a solid texture that still crumbled perfectly. I loved it. If chocolate is your thing then you can’t go wrong with the Mexican chocolate pie. Lots of traditional Abuelita chocolate flavor with a healthy dollop of thick whipped cream on top. Rich, firm and a dense chocolate pie on top of a delicious graham cracker crust. Mmm. One thing though… I swear the slices get smaller and smaller each time I’m here and for $ 6 – 7 a slice, it can get pricey. At least the staff has always been super friendly and they can help make a solid recommendation if you can’t decide.

Located in a store that sells Juices and Ice Cream, this Pie Hole has a nice small assortment of pies to choose from. They are a little pricy(5 – 7.25 per slice, and they are small), which can also add up if you get ice cream on the side. I really liked their Salted Caramel Pecan Pie(amazing when heated up with ice cream). Their holiday chocolate mint pie was also quite good and reminds me of a «Grasshopper Pie» for those old-school foodies. Their Chocolate Mexican Pie and Pumpkin pie were just pretty good in my opinion, but still worth trying. Overall enjoyed this place, just feel that it is a bit expensive for what you get.

3.1 stars! Sadly, I was very, very unimpressed by the slice of earl grey pie we got here. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but nothing to write home about. At about $ 7 a slice, it just did not live up to its hype and monetary value.

I came with high expectations, especially since my trip to LA’s Pie Hole was rather successful; however, this visit was a pretty big fail. I bought four slices of pie for my dad’s birthday, all the while assuring him that buying a cake isn’t necessary and slices of pie would be more than enough to satisfy his sweet tooth craving. I’ve tried the Maple Custard, Mexican Chocolate, and Banana Foster from the LA location and thought they were fairly good, so I confidently went into Pie Hole to pick from their assortment of pies. The Pasadena location of Pie Hole is in Old Town — it’s fairly close to Umami Burger. They don’t have a physical store, but they share a space with Cool Haus and Pressed Juicery. There’s quite a few tables in the middle of the space, quite like a food court. Buying pie took less than a few minutes — pick the pies you want, they wrap it up in boxes, you pay, and you’re on your way. Maple Custard: This is the ONLY pie that I would come back for. The Pie Hole has perfected this pie — it’s sweet, flavorful, creamy, but not too heavy. The crust is still flaky, although if you wait too long — the crust does get soggy. I like that the top of the pie has that glistening crème brulee like look. At $ 6.75 a slice, it definitely is not a cheap treat. This was the only pie my dad enjoyed. Earl Grey: I’ve heard from many people that the Earl Grey is just as good, if not better than Maple Custard. I don’t see it. I didn’t like the Earl Grey at all. I believe this pie has the Earl Grey filling, whipped cream on top, and some nuts on top. I didn’t like the taste of the nuts or the Earl Grey filling. I suppose I’m not a big Earl Grey fan as the taste didn’t sit well with me. I only enjoyed the whipped cream in the middle. The crust of this pie also wasn’t as good as the Maple Custard’s either. It was more dense and hard. My friends still love this pie, but I’m not sold. Honey Lavender Cheesecake: Another big mistake, although not as bad as the Chocolate Crostata. The weird floral taste of the lavender and the sourness of the cheesecake did not mesh well for anybody in my family. It was sweet, sour — just overall strange. I love lavender, but it didn’t work well for me. The crust was okay though. That was the only redeeming factor. Chocolate Crostata: Worst mistake ever. This was horrible. The crust looked like it was flaky with sugar crystals on top. It was hard to even get the fork through the crostata. And the chocolate was horrible — probably the worst chocolate pie I’ve ever had. I expected my fork to slide through this dessert, for the chocolate to be creamy and soft. Nope, it was hard and so heavy that nobody wanted to eat it. My mom tried to heat it up so that it would taste better, but it just made the chocolate even thicker so we ended up throwing it out. tl;dr — So overall we only liked ¼ of the pies. My dad was not happy and made me promise to just stick with Asian bakery cakes in the future. My parents were not won over by these desserts, and when they found out the price of the total — they were not happy. Let’s just say I could have bought a much better cake from an Asian bakery for cheaper than these 4 slices of pie. I think I chose the Honey Lavender and Chocolate Crostata because I asked for recommendations from the worker helping me on what her favorites were. Next time I’ll just choose what I think I would like. Actually, I don’t think there will be a next time. I’m just going to stick with Marie Callender’s Banana Cream Pie.

It’s been about cookies, cakes, cupcakes, ice cream for the last few years. Pies get no love. Aside from the franchise restaurants of Carrow’s, Coco’s, Denny’s and grocery stores, you’ll only find a few pie shops around. Polly’s Pies are still around but not too many locations and the Republic of Pie located in the valley is a distance. The Pie Hole location in Art District has been popular for some time and glad they finally opened one up in Old Town Pasadena a while ago. The pies here are quite sweet but have great flavor. My go to pies are typically the infamous earl grey pie, maple custard, and banana fosters pies. One of the better earl grey pies I’ve had. The down side is that the slices are small and smaller than years past. For $ 6+ a slice, it’s a bit pricey for what it’s sold for. Good nonetheless. They also serve savory pies which I don’t care for. Definitely worth a consideration after dinner in Old Town Pasadena.

Excellent! I’ve been to this location and the one in the Arts District in LA. The times I’ve come have been with friends or my lovely coworker picking up some pies for us(I work with some awesome people) and always enjoyed it. I know at The Pie Hole, there are savory and sweet pies. I always get a sweet pie as I enjoy my sweets and I think pies should be a dessert. I’ve tried the Earl Grey and the Mexican Chocolate pie. Mexican Chocolate is my favorite of the pies. It is located next Intelligentsia Coffee on Colorado with many places to eat before you get your dessert here. There are tables located outside in the patio and I believe some inside as well. I like this place and the pies. I will say though, I’m the kind of girl who once enjoys that particular dish, I seldom try anything else as I know I’ll always have something yummy. Perhaps though, I’ll see what seasonal ones they have now as the holidays are approaching! Tips-parking everywhere. Structure, street or valet. There is usually a fee but some have the first 90 minutes free.

I love Pie Hole! And I love that there is one closer to me than Little Tokyo/Arts District: P This particular Pie Hole is situated in a food hall with several other vendors such as Pressed Juicery and Coolhaus. Being in Old Town Pasadena, parking is easy to find in any of the public parking lots(free 90 minute parking). You can always try for metered street parking, but that seems more hassle than it is worth. My favourite favourite favourite pie here is their Maple Custard! Unfortunately they do not always have it available :(So if you see it there, you should definitely get a slice! Their caramel apple cheesecake(seasonal) isn’t bad, and their earl gray is always popular(but I find it to be just okay). I find their standard pie menu to be just okay, apart from the always delicious Maple Custard. I follow them on Instagram though and they always have awesome-sounding seasonal pies that make me want to rush out the door to get some! Unfortunately I’m usually looking at these pictures late at night after they have already closed and/or I’m at home in my PJs –_– Damnit I probably shouldn’t have written this review while on a juice cleanse… Now I’m REALLY craving that maple custard pie… Please go and enjoy a slice for me!!! And there is a small dining area with long tables so you can enjoy your pie as soon as you buy it: D

Where do you go after having great sushi? Well, you head across the street and fill your pie hole with pie from the Pie Hole. Yep. They are currently running a great Unilocal check-in where you get a free high five. So I totally did that! And great pie! I chose the one that they call a «Mexican Custard» but it’s what we typically call«flan.» Very thick, nice and tasty, not terribly sweet. It was excellent. I’ve never had a flan pie before, but this was great stuff. $ 7.50 seemed a bit high, but it was quality. Love the vibe here in this little shared vending spot. Families, dates, bros, some gents that might have been crossdressing. All sorts of folks. An interesting spot to sit and use up some of their free wifi!

First, a caveat, my Southern grandmother was a master at baking pies. Plus, I’m not too shabby myself, soooo it’s difficult to impress me. Pie Hole? Average. Pies? Maple Custard: outer was too soft, should have been baked longer(I’ve seen pics by others where it looks like it was baked right). It was very sweet(too sweet) and tasted like leche flan(which has full sugar syrup on it). Plus, crust was too soft. Grandma’s Apple: only had a bite, but apples didn’t taste fresh. Plus, presentation was poor. Pie wasn’t cut properly on either piece(Apple fell apart). Served with disposable plates and plastic forks. BUT, cute place for a date with a little something for everyone(Coolhaus, Pressed Juicery).

Get the Maple Custard pie! You won’t be disappointed! I first visited the Little Tokyo Pie Hole and became completely addicted to their Maple Custard pie. But I couldn’t warrant driving out and dealing with the lines and parking all the time, so I was delighted to hear that a location opened in Pasadena! Parking is so much easier and its located in a food hall so there’s a tea spot next door, Cold Pressed Juicery, and also Coolhaus. The staff are extremely friendly and they make some really good lattes as well which pairs amazingly with their pies. Prices for a single slice of pie ranges from $ 4.50-$ 6.75 so it is a lot more than other places, but it’s definitely worth a splurge! Tip* It’s best to eat their pies right away when its fresh. I found that leaving it overnight in the fridge causes the pie to become soggy the next day.
