I mistakenly came here intending to go to Matsuri up the street which is also on a corner on Green Street. Was very much let down by the food which was not as good as Matsuri and way way more expensive –much too expensive for the quality of the food and service I shall never make this mistake again and will choose Matsuri from now on. I see that someone mentioned that they like the place because it is never busy. While I understand the convenience of a place that always has seats ready for you anytime, I am not surprised in the least that the place is never busy. If the prices were more reasonable and the service and food a little better maybe there would be more folks coming in for dinner. Sure the ambiance is nice, and they have that whole fusion thing going on. But you don’t eat ambiance, and it certainly did not make my omakase dinner any more tasty.

I love their lunch specials. Anytime I’m craving sushi while at work I come here. It does get busy during lunch time so make sure to come early to save seats if you have a large crowd. Ramen comes with california roll and salad however the udon doesn’t which is a bummer.

Nice quiet atmosphere with dark room lighting. Sushi is tasty. Far better than the other local restaurants. Service is fast and they come often for refills. I got the ramen and it came with California rolls Recommend this place since its never busy and kinda hidden.

This place is a hidden Pasadena gem, other than amazing service, this place has amazing sushi, their quality and the freshness of their ingredients deserves 6 stars. If it wasn’t so far from my house, it would be my go-to sushi spot! It was worth the drive!

I don’t usually write reviews in Unilocal unless I need to inform people. We ate here after all the family affairs on Christmas day, December 25, 2015. We arrived at around 6pm. So excited to try since we live so close by. Hoping there would be a good sushi place nearby. We had the usual– Tuna, salmon and albacore sushi. And ordered another round– the last round of Salmon sushi had skin on it? That was the 1st time i have seen skin on a raw salmon sushi and t tasted a bit fishy. My husband got sick, vomit and toilet(sorry for over sharing). He was moaning from the pain of stomach cramps. He usually doesn’t get sick. This time it got him really bad. He couldn’t eat or even drink anything. He didn’t get out of bed all weekend. It was so bad. I think this should be addressed to places that serves raw fish. Until now he hasn’t eaten sushi from fear of getting sick again. I guess we have to go to a more reputable sushi place. Posted this late because we have a newborn and didn’t really have time up until now.

Sushi of Naples is definitely not the best sushi joint I have been to. First, the service is very slow, and finding parking is a headache, like all restaurants in Pasadena. Also, the food is overpriced but not bad. I have tried the ramen, there wasn’t that much flavor in it and the pork was fatty. The ramen came with a WARM salad and a peanut sauce, with four California rolls. I have been here before and it was fairly busy, now the business isn’t doing to hot(I was there Friday evening). I would rather drive to all the other amazing sushi places around the area.

Food was great and it was a large portion! I ordered the Rainbow roll and the Sashimi bowl with Poke. It came with cucumber/seaweed salad and miso soup with a good amount of tofu and seaweed. The miso flavor was good.

FOOD: I work pretty close to this place and have gone for both lunch and dinner. It’s good sushi, but for the price I kind of expect a bit more. I usually get their lunch box with chicken teriyaki and sashimi. Their spicy garlic edamame is really good. AMBIANCE: It has pretty old school/traditional Japanese décor. It has a very authentic feel. CUSTOMERSERVICE: I’ve never had an issue with their customer service. They are always very attentive and kind. I would recommend coming here if you’re in the neighborhood looking for satisfying sushi.

My friend SZ and I came here before watching a show at the Pasadena Playhouse nearby. We found residential street parking about two blocks away. There are also paid parking lots nearby if you wanted something closer. The restaurant was not very busy when we walked in so we were seated immediately. We ordered the following: – FRIEDCALAMARI: fried squid with potato starch, ginger and soy sauce This weirded me out from the moment it arrived. Why does this look like mozzarella sticks? I usually love calamari but not this version. The pieces were way too thickly cut and it was not appetizing at all. I do not recommend this appetizer. – SHISHITO: deep fried Japanese pepper I have a very low spicy tolerance so this appetizer hurt me –_– My friend liked it, but I personally cannot handle it. – SASHIMI Unfortunately I cannot comment on this one since I do not eat raw fish. It does come with miso soup and seaweed salad, though, and those were okay. – BANANAISLANDTEMPURAROLL: fried banana, fresh water eel, avocado and sprouts wrapped in soy paper I had to get this because I have never seen bananas in a tempura roll before. It was quite interesting, but in a good way. I liked this. We told our server from the beginning that we were in a rush because of the Pasadena Playhouse show, so she made sure that everything came out in a timely manner and that we got our check quickly. We were able to have a quick but nice dinner. I have mixed feelings about this place because they messed up an appetizer that I thought no one could mess up, but at the same time I did like their tempura roll… so I guess I shall rate them three stars.

I adore Sushi of Naples, I have a long history of dining at this fine establishment and have at this point tried pretty much everything on the menu. I believe their fish quality to be suburb, I’ve never experienced a weird texture or funky flavor, not even once. They have all the typical Americanized rolls as well as a good variety of seasonal sashimi. I really like their tempura, it’s especially crunchy and not at all soggy. I highly recommend going here with a group at dinner time and ordering a sushi boat for the group, they don’t do the boats at lunch unfortunately :( If you’re not in a sushi mood try their sukiyaki, it’s a good alternative, especially on a cold day. I would got 5 stars but the waiters are a little slow and down right inattentive sometimes, so 4 is as high as I can go for my all time favorite sushi joint.

Sushi of Naples was good but not spectacular for the price point. I had the Pasadena roll and the Rock shrimp roll and volume-wise I felt that the rolls were on the small to average side. Each roll was about $ 12 – 16. The Pasadena roll had various fish that were fresh and the flavor of the rock shrimp was tasty. I was unable to find a nearby parking lot, but during a weekday for dinner around 6−7pm I did not have trouble finding street parking.

Four star quality food, but more three star service/price. Coming from Hawaii, I feel I might have a bit of higher standards for sushi due to the plethora of sushi places. However, I found their multiple unique hand rolls quite good and tasty. My favorite was the Pasadena Roll(think of almost a rainbow roll with the insides full of the variety of fish– very good). The Stone Shrimp roll(Rock shrimp tempura) was also very flavorful and delicious, although I prefer my stone shrimp more crispy(however the taste was still on point). The Hungry Roll(we got ours with spicy tuna) was a bit of a bummer though– not very flavorful and overly spicy. We also got their Naples Omakase(chefs specialty) which had 12 pieces of their prime nigiri sushi. The quality of the fish was good– however I wish they were a little more light handed with their wasabi that was already in the sushi. The Beef Sukiyaki was decent– a little fatty for my preference. The meat was a little tough/chewy as well, so overall not one of my favorites(Especially if comparing to Hawaii/Japan). Overall pretty decent option for interesting hand rolls, but would stay away from the rest of their entrees(pricier side and not that good).

Been coming here with my family for years. We love the lunch special. You get a soup, salad, roll, and entrée for ten dollars. The quality of the food is also pretty decent too. The service and food seemed to have remained consistent. Awesome Japanese food !

Best sushi I’ve had since I visited Morimoto’s in Napa Valley. The Eel was like butter and the crab in the rolls were fantastic, the fatty Tuna melted in my mouth! The squid was so FRESH! AND they have PARKING!!! Will be back****

They have some long time servers who remember all the details about their regulars and truly go above and beyond. The food is average at best, not horrible, but not something worth going out of your way for. The restaurant has been here close to 25 years, maybe more and I don’t think they ever remodeled. Bottom line, you know exactly what to expect and what you will get. They have a ton of combos and bentos and random crazy combo sushi rolls, so you can come here a ton and never try it all. However, like most, you will find an item or two you like and just order it every time.

This establishment will always hold a soft spot in my heart because it was the first place I went to for lunch with my coworkers. The traditional bento box is a plus and I always go with the salmon teriyaki or sushi roll lunch special and it’s delicious and extremely filling. Even for ultra white peoples they have come up with the most white bread thing to incorporate on a bento box-potatoe salad with pieces of corn!!! Service is great and the prices are reasonable, I would recommend this place for a traditional Japanese experience.

An honest review: A-OK! Not better than most places we’ve eaten at but Sushi of Naples Is such an old friend and we have always enjoyed the conversations and laughs shared at this sushi bar. It’s been some time since I’ve been here but walking through the door and being remembered was very sweet! Hand rolls are always a go to here and of course the yellow tail and salmon belly never disappoint. Worth a try if you’ve never been and sitting at the sushi bar is key.

If you were ever chastised by your mom to never waste food, try to put that out of your head when you order the poke bowl here. It is enormous. I’ve had similar types of chirashi bowls or whatever at plenty of places and never felt the bitter sting of defeat that I did at Sushi of Naples, sitting there an hour into the meal, trying to slowly cram in more and more food until my friend finally begged me to stop. Eventually I just had to sigh, get up from my seat and leave, at which point I’m sure the server took it away with a knowing smile, maybe smugly thinking how yet another bad Asian son had fallen, failing in his filial duty to eat everything in his bowl.
