Really the best Mexican style chicken in Pasadena. Flavorful, extra juicy, tasty sides. The food is good. The next great thing is their location, parking, and décor. There are painted tables, cool outdoor seating under a canopy of plants, and a beautiful mural inside. The half chicken is a great meal. Comes in spicy too which is unique and tasty. Pros: great location, great chicken, great sides, variety, lovely Mexican mural. Cons: tortillas in plastic bags sometimes melting shut, regular chicken is a little too salty for my taste.

Great Chicken! This place is way better than L Pollo Loco and it has a down-home Feel. The prices are a little bit on the expensive side but it’s definitely worth the flavor of the meat as well as the sides. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for some good rotisserie chicken.

Chicken is always great, as well as the salsa. However, except for the beans, leave the sides alone. Potato salad in a Mexican joint… really?

Quick, convenient, cost effective… this place is always consistently yummy in my book. A great place for last minute dinner with little time to waste. We always pick up and bring it home but the place is nice inside with a casual vibe. Their catering prices are really good too!

Rustic looking building with lots of parking. Chicken is good not great, I went there late so maybe it’s my fault but the chicken was kinda dry even though I asked for it juicy. The sides are like pollo loco no definition just bland and uninspired. Tortillas are microwaved and are rubbery. We might go back but go earlier.

There chicken is bomb! Had the spicy family meal(all to myself…). Way better than fast food chicken chains. Fresh, hot, and greasy! Just the way mama bought it!

This place is okay. The chicken was good but wasn’t great. The potato salad was soupy and unappetizing. I had the mild and spicy salsa and both were just okay. My main issue was it was more expensive than it needed to be. There are other pollo places in the area with better food and that are significantly less expensive. My 3 piece chicken meal was over ten dollars. Plus they only give you two tortillas with the meal and two more was 50 cents extra. I can’t say I would go back here.

Pros: tacos are super loaded, burritos are semi-decent. Cons: tacos are expensive, burritos have too much beans and rice, horchata is watered down

Yum, yum, YUM! Love this place! Their food is ridiculously good! Chicken is seasoned well and cooked perfectly, never dry! Great sides and their rice is not overcooked. Fast and friendly service. Great for take out and big parties!

I love the spicy chicken here. Only reason i take away one star is the fact I consistently get the wrong sauce I requested. Hot sauce =/= Hot salsa ;)

Delicious chicken plates! Called for take-out and the meals were ready within 10 minutes. One 4-piece spicy chicken meal with 2 sides(beans and corn) and one 4-piece regular chicken(sides were rice and coleslaw). Each meal came with 4 tortillas, 2 limes, and a small salsa(hot or mild). I also got a side of pickled veggies. Everything was DELICIOUS! Chicken was juicy and the spicy was surprisingly super spicy(I’m glad I got one of each to mix them together). The sides complemented the chicken well. Two 4-piece meals are a good size for dinner for 2. I would return if I need dinner in a rush. It was a little pricier than I thought, $ 20.35 for everything including tax.

It’s like El Pollo Loco and El Pollo Unico, but not salty. Chicken was moist and tasty. Sides were decent(corn and potato salad).

I love a good chicken place. This is a bit of a hole in the wall but charming. Staff was friendly. We ordered family style, grabbing several sides. Potato salad was only fair. Sorry folks, I make it better Rice was ok. The chicken-spicy was spicy and I enjoyed it and the regular chicken, but the pieces were kind of hacked apart, small and not with enough meat on each for me to call it a portion. I applaud local spots and I hope this does well. truly. But it did not work for me.

My lips are BURNING! So delicious! Chicken is flame-broiled and they brush this spicy chile sauce on the skin… and I think flame-broil it again quickly. Whoo! Super yummy spicy chicken… who knew it could be SO good? I always get the 2 piece chicken plate(leg and thigh) that comes with two sides. I’m pretty simple so I get the rice and beans… and it is simple VERY well done. Rice is moist with a little bit of fresh corn in it. Beans are cooked– tastes like someone made it at home. They’re THAT good. Spicy salsa rounds it out. Please come support this small spot– they’ll certainly make it worth your while.

Pollos Puebla is the Sister restaurant of the several Puebla Tacos restaurants throughout the Pasadena area including one in this plaza, the difference is here it’s flame grilled chicken only! The architecture alone in this little plaza should make you wanna come visit, but while you’re here you can enjoy some good food too… Like the«Crazy Chicken» place you can buy chicken by the piece, a meal for yourself or the whole family, we got one of the several family meals they had to offer and chose the chicken ½ Spicy and ½ Regular
Unlike the«crazy chicken» place that only offers chipotle or habanero«On Occasion» and is SWEET for the Americanized palate and not spicy, at Pollos Puebla Spicy is Spicy and it’s good!, the chicken is nicely cooked and very flavorful I only wanted the skin to be just a little crispier. They have a variety of sides to choose from our meal had a choice of three so we got… Corn — Nicely buttered and very tasty… Beans — de la olla good /average nothing special. Cole Slaw — Very good, surprisingly better than expected.

Ordered a 12 piece chicken meal to go… half regular and half spicy. The chicken pieces were flavorful and generously sized. I preferred the regular, while my boyfriend and his friend devoured the spicy. Our meal came with tortillas and three sides. We opted for corn, rice, and beans. The corn came three cobbs to an order, already pre-buttered. The Mexican rice was unremarkable, but the beans were pretty tasty. We tried the regular and hot salsas… the regular was very mild and the hot lived up to its name. Affordable, quick, relatively tasty, and good sized portions. However, I would not go out of my way to try this place out… nice option if you’re in the area.

I’ve been to El Pollo Unico many times since I tried it one day about a year ago. I love having a dinner of Chicken, tortillas, salsa, beans, rice, mac salad, coleslaw and did I say CHICKEN. The problem with the place mentioned above is the wait, parking, and proximity to my house. I must be picky because I live about a mile from them. At home and wanting food… NOW! In comes the completion, Pollos Puebla. Why are they better than El Pollo Unico? Larger dinning area, friendly staff, more parking, oh and who needs parking, I live a few blocks away. One more thing I like better… they have SPICY chicken. They offer either regular or spicy which is nice to have the option. While the wife likes the regular better, I can burn my lips off and cool them down with coleslaw. Don’t get me wrong on this review, this place is not fancy and I would likely not eat AT the location, but I do like the quirky chicken memorabilia around and I like to support the family run operation like this or EPU. Rather than a big one like El Pollo Loco, KFC, Popeye’s, or any of the many in our area. I must have watched one too many episodes of Breaking Bad since I’m craving this chicken all the time now. So happy to have made this recent discovery. Might even take a 5 minute walk right now for quick lunch. 4.5 Stars… round it up to support my local community!!!

Winner winner, chicken dinner! This family owned Mexican restaurant is under the same ownership that runs the Puebla Tacos #X’s that litter the north side of Pasadena. But unlike the menus at those locations, you won’t find any of the traditional Mexican fare here, just chicken. They definitely have chicken on the brain. The walls are plastered with murals of chicken. Little chicken figurines sit a top the counter. Even the tables have chickens painted on them. Needless to say, their enthusiasm alone for this bird can’t not be noticed right away when you pass through the front door. My two dining companions and I split a 12 piece order of grilled chicken, half spicy and half regular, which came with a few side orders. Supposedly, the marinate is the secret to the taste, which was quite good. Not too greasy either. The poultry itself was juicy and tender, especially the breast and thighs. The wings had very little meat on them, but the drumsticks were pretty rotund. As for the spicy chicken, it’s no joke. If you can’t handle spice, don’t even try a bite, because it is super hot. The front of my face was completely numb after I finished off a breast piece. The rice, beans and tortillas that I consumed afterward didn’t help one bit at putting out the fire that was smoldering in my mouth. As for the beans themselves, they tasted a bit on the sweet side, and I’d say they won out as the best side order that we got. The rest of sides were just so so. It’s easy to fill up at a very affordable price. 12 pieces of chicken, 4 sides, an agua fresca, and horatcha came to just over $ 20.
