With the advent of Netflix and Redbox, Mom and Pop video stores are sadly very few and far between. I no longer live even remotely near this store but, if I need to grab a movie that is not available anywhere, I will go out of my way to go here. The owner, Louie, and his staff are very nice and, as mentioned in the previous review, once they know you, they not only just ask for your member number, many times they will automatically remember it. I’ve not come in there for months at a time and they will still remember me and my member number. A store like this is unfortunately a rare and dying breed. If you live close by, support this Mom and Pop store.

Back in the day this is where I came to rent movies. I hated Blockbuster plus this place was near my studio apt. I came in a couple of weeks ago looking for a movie that wasn’t available on Netflix or the redbox at Vons. The place is still the same. It’s in the grungy Kragen Autoparts strip mall. This is your typical mom and pop video store. One thing I liked about them back in the day is that new releases were always out a few days early. Also, once they recognize you as a regular, they don’t ask to see your membership card anymore, they just ask for your number. I think it’s also open everyday except for Xmas and New Years. IMO the people working there are strange and unfriendly, but whatever. Their movie selection is decent. I moved to the other side of Pasadena and stopped going a few years ago. With netflix and the redbox, I really don’t have a need for this kind of place anymore. I think one of the reasons they’re still in business is because, according to my friend’s brother, they have the best porn selection in Pasadena. I wouldn’t know about that, but ever since he told me this I wash my hands VIGOROUSLY after touching the dvd or the plastic case. Ewww.
