We went there on Sunday and had a great experience. The hotel looks very chic and cool inside. We got the French toast, omelette, and crab cakes Benedict plus fresh fruit juices. Everything was good, and the portions were good sizes — we each had some to go. On the way out the friendly staff even offered us freshly baked cookies. We can’t wait to see the new pool and spa.

Ok, if you happen to be in Pasadena you have to add this place on your list. Location is great and you get to enjoy the view of the Angeles mountain. Beautifully restored boutique hotel upstairs exhibits full of Pasadena’s history. And when you walk inside, the interior surprises you with modern design — low key yet it makes you feel luxurious. Food taste great and service is always awesome.

Decent enough food, but oh man was the service TERRIBLE. I had two different servers who appeared totally unaware of the other’s existence. I ordered a drink from one, who passed it off to the other, only to be forgotten and re-ordered from the original person and then finally delivered by the second. Moreover, my request to substitute Nova lox for Canadian bacon on the Eggs Benedict was met with the incredulous query«I don’t know if the chef can do that. I mean, he would have to heat the lox, right?» Um, no. That would be a terrible idea. And regardless, let the chef worry about that: if he doesn’t want to do it for some reason, fine, but a server who clearly knows nothing about cooking(heating Nova lox?!) shouldn’t question a fairly reasonable request. Mind you, there were only THREE other tables occupied in the restaurant. How could two people fail to properly serve three tables? I asked this very question to one of my servers, and discovered that BOTH servers also handle room service requests. Assuming this is true, it’s a terrible management decision. Instead of having both servers handle both the restaurant and room service, wouldn’t it be a better idea to have one server handle room service and the other handle the dining room? Moreover, what’s the point of having a lonely looking omelet chef standing out in the middle of an empty courtyard? Poor guy looked totally bereft. Another inscrutable management decision. Finally, one last annoyance: the host who doubles as a check in clerk kept greeting guests with a ridiculous wai gesture(similar to the Namaste). Do we really need a reminder that this place is run by foreign Thai interests who seem to be totally clueless about local Pasadena tastes. Look, I get that they rescued and re-purposed a total eyesore of a property(although arguably it’s still an eyesore given the atrocious Miami Vice meets Russian Gangster Dacha interior design), but it just seems like yet another example of foreign investment running roughshod over local interests. As if Pasadena couldn’t get any more gentrified?

So expected to not be hungry for lunch as I ordered the three egg omelet, what came out was warm and we were only ten feet from The omelet station and it looked more like 1 and a half egg omelet. My girlfriend ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich not sure if you call it a sandwich it came in not assembled with the middle cut out like a donut. The food while not hot it tasted okay

My girlfriend and I spent the night at the hotel, so we decided to try the restaurant for breakfast. It was extremely disappointing. The«three egg omelette» was so small that we decided it must have been more like one and a half eggs. We both asked for bacon in the omelette, but neither of us received it. I guess the chef couldn’t be bothered to fry some up. The eggs were extremely overcooked too. The rest of my omelette ingredients were incredibly sparse as well. And the whole thing was just bland. The accompanying potatoes were awful too. They consisted of potatoes that had been pan fried with… nothing. Just potatoes. No salt, pepper, aromatics, or anything. And also a measly portion size. The plate just looked sad. And they had the audacity to charge $ 15 for each omelette. Avoid at all costs.

Figured since this was my second stay at the dusitD2 hotel in Pasadena, we’d try out their Constance restaurant in the lobby. They periodically update their menu and their chef’s specials change daily so you may or may not see certain dishes available. Drinks: I ordered the Perry’s old fashioned based on our server’s suggestion but I wasn’t a fan. Should have been a good olé boy and ordered my scotch instead. Food: Good, but with some issues. Albacore ceviche: Delicious and refreshing. The citrus and spices along with the coconut complemented and helped elevate the fish. However, the chips on the side tasted stale though. Charred Brussel Sprouts: This dish was very good and I’d probably order it again. Everything worked really well together. Unfortunately, I found a pistachio shell in one of my bites and the dish was only slightly warm when it was served to us. Mushroom risotto with sliced steak: Once again, delicious but the steak was well done and I wasn’t given the option to pick otherwise. If it was cooked medium, I think it would have been so much better. Overall, not a bad experience but it could have been so much better. If you’re feeling adventurous, give this place a shot.

the dining room was nice, high ceilings. came for the restaurant week lunch. the tomato soup was very salty. the vegetable panini was soggy and might have had an aroma of freezer burn. the chocolate pots de crème was nice. overall for $ 15 i’d readily go to any of the many other nearby restaurants.

Came here to experience Pasadena’s Restaurant Week, great price and very scrumptious. For the food: Seared Hokkaido Scallops — Cooked to perfection, the chile-bacon brittle gives it a really nice texture and sweetness. Cauliflower purée was also good but I didn’t taste the truffle. Lump Crab Salad — Very generous portion for an appetizer. The vinaigrette was delicious and salad was seasoned well. Crab meat was fresh, sweet, and substantial; I’m happy that it wasn’t salty at all. Truffled Beet Risotto — Beautiful presentation. I personally don’t like beets at all, but this dish was tasty. The Shrimps were grilled to perfection too. Only thing is, I didn’t taste the truffle on this also. Maybe the cheese is overpowering it? It was still a pleasant dish to eat. Prime Flat Iron Steak — This was cooked flawlessly in medium rare. The steak was very soft and juicy. The peppercorn sauce was so delicious(like I would lick the plate delicious). Market Berries — Yogurt was very light and airy. With every bite of the berries you’ll taste chopped mint leaves, agave, and tangy yogurt. It was a well balanced mixed berries, very refreshing. Chocolate Pots de Crème — I love this dessert, it had a great balance of sweet and salty. Definitely must try. All in all, I had a great food experience. Hands down to the Chef and the kitchen staff in making this meal to perfection. Would definitely come back to try other items on their menu and the bar scene.

I’ve been here twice now with friends. Right now it is undiscovered, but it shouldn’t be. The restaurant itself is comfortable and beautiful, well spaced tables so enough quiet for good conversation. More importantly, the food is wonderful. I’ve tried a number of different dishes and tasted bites offered from the plates of dinner companions. All was delicious. Right now I especially recommend the French onion soup, the roasted Brussels sprouts, and the beet salad. I plan to come back. Often.

I was fortunate enough to stay at the Dusit in Abu Dhabi, so it was wonderful to hear they opened a location in my backyard! A girlfriend and I just left the bar, and had such an amazing experience! We were fortunate enough to make it right out of work just in time for happy hour! As soon as we sat down it didn’t even feel like we were in Pasadena anymore, as my girlfriend said«I’m in Miami…» …You know the rest of the song ;)(unfortunately I’ve never been to Miami but, I too would think this is how it would feel.) Happy hour prices are great, and the food presentation is wonderful! Everything was so well done and the service was over the top! The bar manager even offered to give us a tour of a room! Sadly we didn’t take him up on the offer… we were in a food coma thanks to the complementary birthday dessert from our fabulous server, Tracy! This definitely won’t be my last visit! Hopefully my next review will be of the hotel itself!
