Kettle’s Nurseries

They have a great selection at super reasonable prices. I went in the middle of the day and was a little confused on if I asked for certain plants or just picked and brought them to the cash register. He made a remark about not working «during lunchtime» I thought he was joking. He was not. At the register I asked a question about hardy seeds and shared with him that my 7^th graders were going to be planting them. He ended up throwing in a free pack of seeds for the kids. He’s a little rough around the edges but I will definitely be a regular here for my planting needs!

Steve, the owner, is beyond rude and arrogant. I went there today with my two children and mom. As I was putting aside plants for purchase, Steve handed me newspaper and started talking down to me about how I should put it in the plant. I thanked him and told him that I was not done shopping yet. He got in my face (I’m holding my daughter at the time) and was incredibly demeaning in telling me I didn’t understand how to put the paper in the plant. I told him that I did understand, that I was not done shopping and that he was being condescending. He told me I was STUPID and to take my children and leave his nursery as he aggressively ripped the newspaper out of the plants and started dragging the plants away. I asked him to watch his language as there are small children present to which he yelled «well they have a STUPID mother». I was in shock! This man is ill and beyond reason. There are literally a dozen nurseries in the Pasadena/​Altadena area. I would stay clear of this patronizing fart and spend money elsewhere.

I called to inquire about the prices of their citrus trees. The owner had a rude attitude over the phone and hanged up midway on me. There is no way that I would give them a dime of my business with this kind of unwelcome customer service.

I’m creating my first garden. And I bought today my first tree at Kettles. An avocado tree. I went this weekend to an other nurseries to get ideas and see what’s out there. For the same avocado tree they wanted $ 49,95. I found it at Kettles for half of the price.
Steven is old school. Very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Cant say enough wonderful things about Kettles Nurseries! We are so thrilled that we can actually afford to buy large fruit trees. Great place great prices and great quality plants and fruit trees… Steve is a genuine guy!

I moved into the neighborhood in January of 2011, and prefer to buy from local merchants rather than the corporate «chains», hence buying all my plants and plant needs from Kettles!!! Steve and Raul are genuine people who love to help with all of your inquiries (and then some) and really deliver A-​1 top quality service, even when you don’t inquire! Good people!
