Terrible service and over priced. I flew in for the weekend to visit my mother and wanted to take some flowers to her and unfortunately walked in to this place. Met the owner who seems to have no clue how to treat a customer. I walked right out, don’t waste your time.

The price isn’t cheap compare to supermarket products. However if one looks for quality, the price is right. I walked to the store around noon last Friday, and told a lady what kind of flower arrangement I like. She said it will be ready after 3:30pm the same day. I went back around 5:45, the store was about to close. That young lady was still there and brought out the beautiful bouquet. She wasn’t hurry to leave, on contrary she suggest to use green sash ribbon to decorate the vase, and one more time watered the flowers. I immediately felt how much love she put on these flowers. I checked three other flower shops in town, their flower arrangement were not as nearly elegant as Jacob Maare’s. They do offer delivery, but this time I have to deliver in person.

Finally had enough. This is not the same florist who did my wedding a few decades ago. This is hard to write as I know the family but enough is enough. This last and final go around was an arrangement from my husband for our anniversary. For $ 150.00 I received a bunch of greens, a few dying hydrangea, 3 stalks of tuberose(that had ZERO fragrance), and the best was a bunch of alomestria which we all know cost pennies on the dollar. What a shame on Jacob Maarse. I di not bother calling, as I know from recent experience it will do no good. Time to move on.

Late delivery and bad flowers. Owner got mad at me over the phone and hung up. Do not go here. Immature management and poor quality products. The flowers look just as dead as this business. If you are self-respecting, you would go anywhere else but here.

I was got some flowers from here for my parents’ anniversary. Flowers were not fresh. $ 150 spent here was a total waste of money. There are far better options out there. Avoid this place.

Ordered an arrangement for a friend, thankfully she called me knowing that since I live in Northern California, I probably didn’t know what my $ 175.00 bought. A cheap bunch of wilted flowers, cracked leaking vase, a thrown together mess. Complained but nothing was done, oddly enough I just caught the last 15 min of a TV showing this business for the hot mess it is! Would never do business with them even if I lived in Southern California

If I could give Maarse 0 stars I would. Ever since the original owner died, their work is garbage. The quality of the arrangements has gone way down, and their delivery time is either late or they don’t show up at all. If they do show up, the flowers are wilted. The consistently get the wording in the cards wrong, sometimes even writing offensive things. I don’t know if it’s on purpose or not, but it’s happened enough times now that I’ve had it. What used to be a lovely company is sadly now garbage. I highly recommend that you go elsewhere.

This place is awful, the flowers die in less then a week ams the customer service is terrible. I can’t believe how this place has gone down hill like it has. If your looking to send flowers in the Pasadena area save yourself the time, money and aggravation and go someplace else.

This floral shop was second to none in years past. Arrangements would last for a week or longer. I recently received a floral arrangement and my first impression was that the flowers were not fresh. In two days, the flowers drooped and had to be trashed. This is unfortunate

For nearly 20 years my husband has ordered me the most gorgeous, creative, lavish bouquets imaginable for our anniversary, my birthday, and other special occasions from Jacob Maarse. The employees who make Jacob Maarse’s bouquets and create their special gifts are incredibly talented. The flowers are gorgeous and the color and botanic combinations are brilliant – off-the-charts unexpected, clever, intriguing, and at the same time, elegant and coherent. Because we live nearby, I go into the store a lot – about once a month – to get design ideas, to buy a small arrangement for a friend or assistant, to get an excellent hostess gift of candles, small porcelain, paper goods, whatever, to check their(very good) sales, or to order a more substantial flower order. I have to say for the most part I’ve been very happy and I just love the decorative items they have, even though I am never sure who or what I’d buy them for… But I have had a couple messed up orders – including a really tragic example of sending a huge flower arrangement to one of our dearest, very elderly friends on his birthday… the birthday flowers apparently arrived late, way too late, days after his actual birthday… he had a heart attack, went to the hospital and by the time his wife returned home from intensive care, the flowers at last appeared with our cheery happy birthday greetings. It was gauche and ghoulish, made so by the flowers arriving ridiculously late and the very sad death of a very dear man only a few days after his birthday. I always felt awful and superstitious about this, like I shouldn’t have sent flowers to such an elderly friend, but rather hand-delivered them. But then tonight we saw the Profit episode(from 2013) about Jacob Maarse’s son who inherited the business. He was at the helm when my sorry late flower story happened. I am really torn here. I love *most*, but not all of what I can see when I walk in the store – I too feel like the staff is either absent or overly snooty, neither of which is terribly inviting. And seeing how Jacob Maarse’s son behaved is utterly appalling and makes me feel like I am a fool to throw as much money as we do at a business run by such an obnoxious ingrate who inherited(and squanders) such a fine reputation. I don’t really care if he acts like an immature doofus on TV for his sake, but rather that his arrogance puts his employees at risk and is no doubt a nightmare for any vendors, creditors, or clients. When I buy something, whether a product or a service, I don’t anticipate having problems, but I always assume if I want to return or rectify something that I will be dealing with a fair business that wants to excel. Watching this episode makes me think that if I had thought to complain about the botched birthday delivery that only arrived on death’s door, nothing would have happened. And I just don’t know if I want to patronize a business whose owner is such a jerk when there are so many new and struggling businesses eager to have a shot at surviving in a very competitive marketplace. I will keep shopping the backroom sales at Jacob Maarse – these will bring no profit to the owner– but I think my husband and I will be picking up hostess bouquets at Bristol Farms and find another more dedicated business for our serious floral business from here on out.

Do NOT buy flowers from this company. The owner is dishonest and a thief. Not is only the owner a thief but the flowers are awful. The flowers went bad the very next day. The owner doesn’t like taking construction criticism and got mad at me when I told him about my experience. Horrible Owner!

My mom’s favorite flower shop! Their arrangements are gorgeous and the staff is so friendly and accommodating! My mom picked a ready-made arrangement off one of the tables and a staff member, Heidi, was nice enough to switch out some of the flowers for fresher ones. They packaged the arrangement beautifully and included a card.

I love this place! Every arrangement I’ve ordered(and there has been a plethora) has been amazing! There is no better way to say I’m sorry(also a plethora) or show appreciation and/or love than with these flowers. I’ll be using them again and again for everything in the Pasadena area. Cheers!

This is the preeminent florist in Pasadena. Their work is really wonderful and I have surprised my wife with many great and unique arrangements over the years. Just know this: practically every salesperson is snooty, and has no interpersonal skills. So if you are looking to make a simple purchase without any hand holding or courtesy, it definitely fits the bill. Why so superior, Jacob Maarse?

I wish I could shop here every week! They have gorgeous pre-made arrangements and I love picking one out every month. I also love their party wares section. There’s a huge selection of Caspari items. This place explodes during Christmas time also. The employees here are helpful and one lady even helped me find a ribbon that was used on an arrangement I received over a year before. I have also received as gifts two rolls of gorgeous ribbon for our Christmas tree! Love this place.

Consistently beautiful flowers. Frankly, I am surprised at the number of people claiming that they received less than stellar floral arrangements from Jacob Maarse. I have receive quite a few delivered bouquets from them and each one is simply gorgeous with fresh flowers and an elegant and seasonal display. The bouquet I received last Friday(delivered to Downtown LA in the middle of the crazy rainstorm) was artistically arranged, full of the freshest well selected flowers, and presented a wonderful aesthetic. I don’t see why anyone would want to go anywhere else. It’s a week later and roses are still blooming.

My dad and I have a tradition to send each other flowers for birthdays and this past week he ordered online a bouquet for Saturday delivery. He buys it online and from Europe and unfortunately there is no option to choose which flower shop to buy from. Little did he know, or did I know, that Jacob Maarse Flowers would ruin this tradition of ours by delivering the most pathetic bouquet that I’ve ever received. The provided delivery address included my suite # as well as my cell #, but the delivery never cared to announce that he/she would deliver, or even to ask where to drop it off, which suite #, if they indeed missed that information. When I picked them up from the leasing office, a couple of hours later, I already noticed that the flowers were looking as if they were left outside in the heat for some time. But the leasing staff said that they kept them in their office where it was pleasant 70 some degrees. That tells me that the flowers were already brought in in a poor shape. Today, only 48 hrs later and half of the bouquet is in trash. Thanks guys for ruining this tradition. I have no heart to tell my dad that he threw away his money and me, his birthday gift. But I did email to the flower shop, to let them know what a sad experience it was. Not asking for anything, but I think it is unfair that they think they can get away with just anything.

Well, I complained to Marina, the manager, about the sad state of the flower bouquet I had sent, and she offered to send another one(she credited the original order). So I had her send another bouquet and it was quite nice, but still not up to the quality that they used to produce. So probably better than ProFlowers or 1800flowers, but no longer exquisite.
