In October of 2011, my business partner and I hosted a fundraiser at the Heritage Wine Company. We brought in a lot of friends and people from Meet-Up and Facebook. The deal that we had made with them was that we would get a percentage of the profits from the wine sold that evening once everything had been counted and sorted. It was a great turn-out, and we were thrilled — this event was going to fund our production company’s first short film. Weeks go by, with no responses from anyone at the company. And then suddenly… they are closed! How very fly by night of them.

Pasadena Magazine voted Heritage Wine Company the best place to meet eligible singles so it is a place to see and be seen! They are a Boutique Winery; as they only purchase from wineries that produce less than 4000 cases of each wine per year They are the only offsite vendor with a specialized license to carry opened containers off the premises(just like Las Vegas!) Along with the wines and champagnes they offer small plates: fomagere = cheese /Boulangerie = bread /Charcuterie = meat Their chefs come from all over the world and are all Cordon Bleu trained Enough said… go check them out!

If you have a Unilocal coupon, please be advised that their menu for food is very limited. They do NOT have a wine tasting menu either. They have wine by the glass. Wine by the bottle is not included in the coupon. Make sure you eat before you go. Good selection of wine. Service is good. Snacks and food selections are very limited, even cheese. Recommend the French Pinot Grigio that smells like pear.

There’s something about drinking wine in an actual wine shop that gives you the feeling that your cutting out the middle man(the restaurant)! Hooray, for the triumph of the consumer! Not that middle men are always bad, in fact my husband is a middle child! FOOD: Ok, the food here is a bit pricey, but always delicious. Don’t come starving, and you’ll walk away happy. I love the mac n cheese, the truffles, and the appetizer dip plate. WINE: They always have an interesting selection of wine. They seem to be drawn to lesser known wines, which is fun. I also appreciate that the bottles range in prices– you can always find a good bottle for below $ 15. HAPPYHOUR: $ 2 off glasses of wine, nice. MYFAVORITE: picking a bottle from the store, having them open it, and sharing it with a few friends. They charge a minimal corkage fee to go this way, but you save $ in the end. BONUS: 90 minute free garage next door, or walking distance from the Memorial Park stop on the Gold Line.

Loved this place! Parking is very convenient and the experience was wonderful. My favorite place in Napa(and one of my favorite places anywhere) is a little spot called Ma(i)sonry in Yountville. It’s a hybrid art gallery-tasting room for smaller vineyards that are not large enough to have their own tasting room on-site(in Napa you have to have 10 acres to have a tasting room). The staff there is amazing, the wine picks are all special and delicious, and the environment makes you want to become an instant regular. Heritage Wine Company is the first place I’ve found in LA that has a vibe similar to Ma(i)sonry, and believe me, I’ve looked! All they need is to turn their front area into more of a patio space and stick a fire pit out there, and I’ll consider giving up my apartment and moving in permanently. We looked at the menu online and wanted to try the crab dip, but when we asked for it, they didn’t have it(the menu itself is not printed but written up on a chalkboard column, which is a cool concept but a little difficult when you are trying to order from it). The cheese plate we tried, however, was delicious and generous. As others have noted, the bread is so good. I think it would be fine if they stuck to just doing cheese and meat plates, bowls of olives, dried fruits and nuts, etc. That’s Napa style, anyway. :) We had a flight of four wines for $ 15 — very reasonably priced. We asked our server to put together a selection based upon our likes(dessert wines, sweet whites, and champagnes), and she did a wonderful job. We loved all four selections and liked the moscato enough to both buy a whole glass of it. The atmosphere in here is lovely, and my friend and I enjoyed our mini-wine retreat very much. We’ll be back!

If I lived closer, I would frequent this place more often. The few times I have been here, I appreciate the casual, cozy, warm atmosphere and friendly service. I have not ordered any hot meals here, since I am usually eating at a restaurant somewhere, but I have had the pleasure of the cheese flights. I LOVE the hearty crusty bread . They have a nice selections of wines on the board to buy by the glass or you can customize a flight for yourself. My last occasion to visit was on a blistering day, so I made myself a nice refreshing summer flight . I loved the cute name and font of the Panky Rose . Yes, that’s right, I can be suckered in by a cute/funny name or label. Hey, sometimes they end up actually being good! This spanky Panky was quite nice and not sweet. Don’t know which wines are refreshing and light for a hot summer day? Not sure if you like oakey or smokey or jammy? They can help you figure out which ones you might like. There is a nice selection of bottled wines to purchase also. Sometimes its nice to purchase a bottle and take to dinner up the street where they have über cheap corkage fees.

I’m officially a regular! Big hello to Christian(owner) and Felipe(chef)! Sorry if I butchered your names guys! Because of them, friends and I continue to come back to Heritage. It’s a very friendly environment and many of the servers take good care of us whenever we sit at the bar. If you have any questions about the wine, they will knowledgeably answer and make suggestions. I was first introduced to a strawberry infused sparkling wine from Chile called Fresita. We were given samples to try and they were delicious! Very refreshing and sweet but not too diabetic and let this be a fair warning. it’s a creeper! A mix of whites, reds, and Fresita will do you goooood ;) As for some savory eats, I highly recommend the mac-n-cheese. Felipe always hears us rant and rave about it. so this is me ranting and raving … MAC-N-CHEESE. omg sooooo bombbbb. you can’t go wrong. It comes in a tiny dish with bread slices so it’s a perfect share for two people tops. You’re really gonna have to take my word for it and try it. So if you’re in Pasadena, taking a stroll down Raymond avenue. drop in, say Hi and remember these two things. Fresita and Mac-n-Cheese.

I have since brought my girlfriend to Heritage and last night my husband. The service can be a bit spotty/slow, but the food remains tasty. The waitress took a bit to get to our table, but she was nice, and really tried to please. I forgive her for making me wait and have a darn conversation with my hubby. Ya know, after 20+ years you can sometimes run out of things to talk about? Well, last night my hubby and I made up our own flights, including an Italian bubbly which was not too sweet. La Maschera Prosecco from the Montello area of the Trevigiani hills in the Veneto region of Italy. Pure bubbly happiness. You know how nice it is to share a glass of bubbly with your partner, and you look at each other and get that«smile» like, yeah, this is nice and we are enjoying ourselves? heaven. We also had an Argentinian Sauvignon blanc, a Pinot from California and a really rich cab amongst our wines. 6 tastings in all and then we had another glass of the Prosecco with our dessert of homemade chocolate ice cream and an apple tart. We shared a charcuterie plate. The hard cheese was nutty deliciousness. The goat cheese had been slightly warmed so it spread easily on the fresh bread. The apricot jam coupled with that tart goat cheese was nice. The genoa salami and spicy mustard made my husband happy. They gave me a small dish of olives(hubby hates em, I love em) and did not charge me. We also shared a hamburger with spinach/red pepper garnish that was soooo good. And the side salad was a simple vinegar/olive oil fresh taste of gardeny goodness. They had run out of a few items when we arrived, so the kitchen was a bit off its game, but the tastes were wonderful. I saw the cooks both come out to serve us, and it was incredible these 20 somethings with tatoos up their arms were so passionate about simple good food. We purchased two bottles of sparkling wine along with our meal and flight of wine…110 bucks. TWO bottles of bubbly, a flight of 6 wines, charcuterie, dinner & dessert for 110 bucks. Thank you Heritage for a wonderful evening. Not perfect, but I was perfectly happy with a really nice meal, delicious wines, and dating my husband. 5 stars!

Visited too early for food, but enjoyed a great flight from Paso Robles and a few tastes from Argentina. Think I just found a new red that will be on my top five! And thanks Christian for the great conversation & wine recommendation! Can’t wait to come back!

Oh no! I have to downgrade my review. This time around, they seem to not have their act together. Every time my sister and I tried to order something, they claim they didn’t have it. Also, our flight of wine tasting was a complete rip off because they claim they didn’t have their normal tastings so we did a custom tasting that would cost as much as a bottle of wine for each person! Their menu is on a column so if you want to look at the menu, you have to look at the column. It is really annoying actually. I was really disappointed coming back. There are many other places in Pasadena and DTLA, and after this past visit, I would probably avoid this place.

I like this place. Roomy, and open, unpretentious. Mostly a wine shop with mid to value priced wines but they do have a bar and some table tops. GREATCHEEESEPLATTER! Reasonable priced tastings, you can choose a flight or single pours. I’ve been here a couple times — cheese platter, sliders, other goodies. The place is a good VALUE. Service is okay — last time I was there the bar waiter knew nothing about wine — didn’t even know where the bottle she was pouring was from. It didn’t really bother me but I was surprised because if you do have questions they might not be able to help or recommend anything. Maybe she would refer you to the manger?

I may be naïve about wines and the art of wine tasting, but I know a good place when I see it! I came here mainly for their desserts, which I heard was some of the best in Pasadena. What I heard was correct: I had one of the best desserts ever. Heritage Wine Company only offers three desserts and our server recommended the French Toast Crème Brûlée, which was the house favorite. It was a brown sugar, chocolate praline, Maple Grand Marnier Sauce drizzled goodness! Quite possibly the best dessert I had in a long time. Heritage Wine Company offers a full menu as well as wine tasting. Our server was very cordial and attentive, which gave me a good warm fuzzy feeling. The place itself is not big but very charming. It’s not Bev Mo! but Heritage have a rather huge range of handpicked wines for purchase. Unlike other wine-tasting establishments, Heritage is very spacious and quiet. It’s an excellent place to patron and to enjoy a relaxing evening with friends.

Every once-in-a-while, you come across a place that you don’t know exactly what it originally was that pulled you in, but you couldn’t be happier for it. Heritage is one of those places for me. Hell, who am I kidding, it’s a wine store/bar, we ALL know what drew me in… Starting off with the décor and such, it’s half(maybe 2⁄3) wine store with a pretty wide range of hand-picked wines and the other half(1⁄3) is designated as a tasting bar and restaurant. There is a wide range of constantly changing art on display, sometimes very professional looking, sometimes a little more… Art school project. No worries though, it’s never there for very long should you find something particularly awful. The staff is amazing. Having worked as a wine-maker, I’m always impressed with their knowledge of the wines, their ability to create interesting flights and amazing food pairings. The fun, relaxed environment is perfect for those interested in venturing past the standard supermarket wine list of poo. They’re great about answering questions and if you really want to wine geek out, the manager/owner is oftentimes roaming around and always up to chat. Onto why I(and you most likely) walked into Heritage in the first place: the vino. Broad selection, MANY varieties offered by the glass and if you really turn on the charm, they’ll sometimes open a bottle for you before purchasing. There’s a cool $ 12 – 14(I’m pretty sure that’s the range) make your own flight but oftentimes, if you’re an adventuresome booze-hound like myself, it’s a great call letting the bartenders choose for you. Now onto one of the best kept secrets in Pasadena; Heritage’s food is amazing. If I could increase the text size, bold and underline, I would make this section look like a adderall-riddled, emotional 15 year-old girl’s text message to her BFF after her first kiss. That’s how good the food is. I rarely say this about anywhere but I have never once been disappointed by something coming out of that marvelous little kitchen. I truly consider myself a foodie who cooks, eats and truly loves food(don’t we all here…) and more often than not I’ll leave a place saying, «Good, but I can do better.» Not here. Prices are slightly elevated, but worth every penny. Some notable menu items are the short rib grilled cheese, any of the lighter cheese or meat plates and the freshly made truffles resulted in my panties on the floor. Enough with the weirdness of the above. Amazing place, if you’re a local(or not) go and check out this place and keep this Pasadena gem around for a good long while.

This is my new favorite place to pick up and lounge with some great quality wine. I couldn’t believe my luck; I found 5 – 6 wines I had been hoping to find forever!!! I kept cackling with glee… I think my boyfriend thought I was crazy. Pretty soon a kind lady came up and asked if there was any bottle in the store I would like to try. Also, they had a series of white wines available to taste, but I was only interested in red.(What can I say?) Not a problem! She put together 5 interesting diverse reds for me to try. In addition to the store, there’s a wide open bar where one can sample an array of cheeses, salads, sandwiches, and other tasty fare. The vibe here is so chill. The employees are nice, thoughtful and extremely knowledgeable. I’m counting down the days until my return. Look, I have to pay my rent okay?

Went in to kill some time while waiting for a friend. Ended up spending the evening. The place boils over with friendly service. The food is really tasty and the wine is, well, wonderful. I’m a late comer to the rose trend but they had a flight of rose that was just what a hot day needed. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Well I have been here twice now for drinks and light bites. The first time was with a large group(couples) that I met on a meet up group and it just didn’t fill all the manly men in the group for food but I found myself with the 5 girls chatting it up girl style while the boys talked about sports and the like. We later decided to eat a hearty meal at Louise’s Trattoria but Heritage sure warmed up the buzz and took the edge off of the hunger. I can’t say I had great service that night as the server was a little short and didn’t care to educate us on wine since lets face it at that time I knew almost zero about wines. The second visit to Heritage was just the other night after work, we were on our way to Pop for some light bites and sweet food and drinks to accompany but we were so tired and it was a Friday night. Worried about a possible wait and the whole two blocks I was going to have to walk from the free parking, we decided to give Heritage another go. This visit we sat at the bar and had excellent service and this time by three different servers who were not only helpful but just fun to talk with about various local flavors and trends. I stayed away from wine and grabbed a bottle of optimator for $ 3.50 which I felt was a steal(turns out it rang in at $ 5 a bottle but it was posted at $ 3.50 on the sign so they fixed the bill) so I had a few. A short rib grilled cheese on sourdough tasted nice with marinated o.nions. Dessert was a combo of truffles rolled in spices of your choice(we got cinnamon and salt) and lava cake with ice cream dusted with chili powder. Although a little spendy, our service, food, low key atmosphere were all perfect for the relaxing exhaustiveness I felt from a day that had started at 4 a.m. with a 5 mile run. After indulgence in beer, cheese and truffles I had no choice but to go right home and sleep

Love, love, love, love, love Heritage Wine! This place is freakin awesome. This is a great place to come and experience a great glass of wine and learn a little something new. The staff here are super friendly and really knowledgeable and helpful. I always have the staff guide me in finding a new wine and every time they find something I love. Recently I tried the Heartstone Pinot Noir and it was heavenly. They have a great rotating selection of wines by the glass OR you can opt for their flights. Really warm and welcoming environment. This place is down to earth and you can tell that the people here love what they do. Half the place is a shop where they’ve accrued a great variety of top notch bottles for sale. Very convenient! ALSO: Over the summer I took a trip up to Santa Rosa and stopped by Heritage wine beforehand to get suggestions on where to go. They were so helpful, I got great suggestions on which cellars to visit and they ended up being my favorite places! I’m just head over heels in love with this place. Bravo Heritage Wine. Bravo.

We came here for an art show. Every month, thye feature an artist and put up his or her work for the entire month at the place. The artist is there for an opening night reception to talk about their work and chat. The place is large but there are few tables that take up about 30% of the space. The rest is their wine collection which is neatly displayed and organized. They have wine by the glass and flights and were quite knowledgable without regard to how much you knew about wine. We did not eat here but the menu looked creative and good. A great place with a neighborhood feel. Many of their patorns are locals and regulars.

I think this is one of the best combination wine bars and wine stores in Los Angeles. It is carved out of an old building, in old Pasadena and has brick walls and tall ceilings. A large bar with tables and sofas to accommodate wine drinkers occupies half the space. They sell about a dozen wines by the glass at prices ranging from $ 5 – 11 a glass. You can also sample any bottle, and they will open it, pour it and charge you accordingly. You may sit at the bar and order some cheese and bread and other small appetizers. The wine store is stocked with a large selection of international and domestic labels, with an emphasis on hard-to-find brands. If you are searching for an obscure German Riesling, Italian Barolo or French Bordeaux, you may find it here. The prices vary. I found great small bottles of discounted French reds at $ 5. Heritage also has special day trips to such destinations as Santa Barbara and Paso Robles, which combine food and wine. This business has a warm, friendly, convivial and welcoming way about it. You walk in and instantly feel like you are with your family.
