Food is always fresh and delicious so no complaints there. Love their jasmine tea and egg rolls. Lunch specials are very affordable. Service is a bit spotty, sometimes the waiters make you feel like you’re bugging them by asking for something. Parking is tough but that’s what you’d expect from old town.

Ha! I knew it wouldn’t take long for this DUMP to finally close it’s doors for good! They had the WORST service EVER!!! Glad they are closed! 1 down and about 35 more to go in Old Town, including ALL the Mexican restaurants! Enjoy!

My friends and I usually go for lunch since we work a couple blocks away. The food is good and Inexpensive. the service is ok, cant complain. They have a good lunch menu and their pan friend noodles from the regular menu are good.

I love their food! I often order in or sometimes I will dine in there. I think the price point is good and the taste is great!

I’ve only had delivery and it’s been all really great! I’ve ordered from Fortune at least 4 times now, and delivery is super fast — like, 30 min. The food has been really tasty, too. It’s not authentic Chinese cuisine, but good Americanized Chinese food. I’ve had the Mongolian beef, orange shrimp and kung pao chicken. The prices are good, too! The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the fried dumplings — I thought they tasted kinda weird — and the fried chicken wings(I’ve just had better). So avoid the appetizers! Otherwise, filling and tasty.

Good place. I have eaten here frequently and I even met up with the Allstate Commercial«Are you in good hands?» guy eating here. The food is pretty tasty especially for a Chinese Resturant! The Chow Mein is great and the Fish in Black Bean Sauce is really good. The Sizzling Rice Soup is also great. The veggie egg rolls are also a superb appetizer. The price is moderate. But for a resturant like this place I manage so I ain’t complaining! Good place I’d recommend this to anybody looking for some nice Chinese Food in Old Town.

Sadly, I’m not able to give this restaurant more stars… I should have known better than to walk inside an empty, dark and dimly lit Chinese restaurant. There was something eerie about this place, but since I was already spotted I decided to continue to order by take out. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but how could you mess up on fried rice and chow mein? :[ It tasted gross and looked unappetizing. What a waste of my $ 14 dollars.

I live local to this restaurant and was looking for a good go to Chinese takeout spot. I was pleased to find the servings were well portioned and it was really reasonably priced. I haven’t eaten at the restaurant yet but have done takeout and delivery at least 5 times in the past couple of months. I’m definitely coming back.

I’ve been ordering from this place at least twice a week for the last two years. I stay down the street at the Westin Pasadena for business and without them, I’d be spending a ton of money and calories on the alternative California Pizza Kitchen down the street. I grew up in a place like this(Americanized Chinese Food), but really do appreciate this place more than any others besides the one my parents owned. The place has healthy options and they consistenly cook in a healthy and tasty fashion. I pretty much just get the house special beef steak with a soup, which is awesome. The delivery guys are always quick and friendly. Sometimes I’ll order a water or fruit from room service at the same time I order from Fortune, and the Fortune guys always deliver quicker than I even get a bottle of water.(No bash against the Westin staff)!

It’s been WAY too long coming to write a review for this restaurant. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles and a special place for my husband and I. The food is excellent and there are lots of healthy options. If you don’t want to go healthy, there’s a few options for you as well though which my hubby appreciates. ;) Elegant and simple décor makes it a lovely date place or great for business meetings. Service is great as well and always hospitable. My Healthy Tip: Try out the Chinese Chicken Salad! It’s the best! My Hubby’s Not as Healthy Tip: Orange Chicken or Orange Shrimp.

Old Town Pasadena is not a place I would expect to find any Chinese restaurants but there are at least two, one of which is Fortune. In a lot of ways, Fortune is just like a Chinese restaurant you might find in Alhambra or Monterey Park. To start, no one greeted us when we arrived and it took a few minutes to get seated. The restaurant had two servers for the entire lunch and they were extremely busy tending to the tables. Nevertheless, it was not an unbearable wait for us to get seated and order. Like a typical Chinese restaurant, they offer very reasonably priced lunch combinations. They are priced just $ 1 or so more than what you might expect elsewhere. It comes with a bowl of hot & sour soup and a fried eggroll. The soup was passable and had the key vinegary spunk and tofu, but really lacking in pork or heat. The egg roll was filled with minced cabbage and carrots and you could dip it in either Chinese hot mustard or that mystery red goo sauce. Our table shared entrees. I must admit that I quite enjoyed them even if the food erred on the side of being Americanized. The Spicy Orange Chicken was glazed and deep fried to provide a sweet heat and a bit of crunch from the frying. The Black Bean fish was a modest portion and served was served with a mix of brown sauce and black bean sauce and a good variety of sauteed peppers and onions. The Mapo Tofu was perhaps the least authentic — lots of tofu, no heat, and no pork. I must ding them a bit because their rice was quite poor. The grains seemed a bit broken and unevenly cooked with undercooked grains. Nevertheless, if you are looking for something a little more low-key than Yujean Kangs, turn the corner and there is Fortune.

I really wanted to like this place since the people from my office always order from Fortune. They deliver super lightning fast, and they are also really friendly. Not, BYFAR, the best Chinese food i’ve tried. but surprisingly not the worst either. My coworker found not one, but TWO, flies in her food. disgusting.

Why do I keep going back to Fortune? The food may not be extraordinary, but it is always good, always hot, and always fast, whether in the restaurant or delivered. The value is good too, both for the entrees and particularly for the lunch specials. Perfect for a go-to«What’s for dinner tonight?» place. Entrees that I recommend include the Cha Cha Chicken, the Moo Shu Chicken, the Lemon Chicken, and the Kung Pao Tofu. The jasmine green tea, which they bring with the meal, is a bit better than the usual complimentary tea at Chinese restaurants.

I have been looking for some yummy Chinese food near my apartmen and I just found it. The portions are generous(family style) and the prices are great. Although this place cannot compare to any of the mom and pop plaes in Alhambra and Monterey Park, it is a great subsitute when one is craving some spicey orange chicken or nutty cashew chicken. The boyfriend and I loved coming to this place and managed to pack away a whole large bowl of egg drop soup, steamed dumplings, before getting our maing dishes. We ended up taking the rest home, which goes to show that no one leaves hungry.

For what it is, Fortune Chinese Cuisine does a good job. You essentially pay what you would at Panda Express, get essentially the same food you would at Panda Express, but get to enjoy it in a surprisingly clean and nice environment with your company. The service was good, if curt, and the broccoli gave me ridiculous gas as it should. Don’t go expecting a major step up from your typical«Americanized Chinese» spots, because that’s exactly what you’re going to get here. If that’s okay with you and you’re baller enough to afford Panda Express, Fortune’s an okay spot to have lunch. The fortune cookies they give here are eerily specific. I don’t know whether that’s a good or bad thing, so I’ll call it neutral.

The restaurant was empty when we walked in, so we were a little weary. But the waiter took our order quickly and we got the food out within five minutes, which was great because we were soo hungry! We ordered the Orange Chicken and the Kung-Pao Beef, which were both very tasty. Our waiter was very attentive and gave us extra rice when he saw we were running low. Overall a good experience, with great service and pretty good food that hit the spot. Would go back again!
