This review is not for Burrito Express, but actually for«Shavies», the little shave ice stand connected to it. While Shavies’ fare pales in comparison to the shave ice establishments I’ve visited on Hawaii, it’ll definitely satisfy your shave ice Jones and keep you from impulsively maxing out your credit card with a spontaneous flight to the 50th state because you couldn’t control yourself. They have a pretty decent selection of flavors, and you can get ice cream on the bottom and sweetened condensed milk on top if you want. A regular size is $ 4.25 and a large is $ 5 and change. Cards are accepted, but you have to go around to Burrito Express to pay, so it’s easier if you bring cash. I believe Shavies is also only open during the summer months, too. That’s a little odd, because summer in Pasadena usually lasts until Halloween. Sometimes Christmas.

This is the local favorite. I always get the burrito, the staff is great very friendly. I recommend getting a side of beans and chips… Something amazing is in those beans!!!

Good tacos, burrito was ok not enough meat, also tried the chicken enchiladas which were bland and did not have much sauce and rice and beans were not good.

Burrito express has been around for a few decades and there is a reason why! Their menu consists of burritos, tacos, and enchiladas which are all great value and happen to be good quality as well. When ever I go the friendly staff gives me and all my friends the«friend discount», which makes me come back every week. If you go enough the staff will quickly become your friends and you will be hooked for life. Important info: — Three tables indoors — Outdoor seating — Street parking — Fast service — Desert(shavies) served from 5pm-close

I remember going here back in the day. I used to love the normal chicken combo burritos. They were just the right size and were tasty. Today to my surprise, the JVC burrito(with chicken), was huge but ok tasting. It has a double tortilla and was just a little much for me. It was supposed to have guacamole and sour cream but I didn’t really see any guacamole. Service was speedy and I had my order in about five minutes after ordering. So in a lunchtime pinch, it seems like you make good time. Study the menu for something you like. There are lots of options to choose from. The food and service itself wasn’t bad. With the burrito and small drink it ran me about $ 9. Overall, I give it a 3.

Old school since 1978. I had purchased a groupon for this fast food restaurant so I stopped by to order one of their popular burritos. I ordered the Ross Perot burrito and had the Vic Special added to it, which consisted of a salsa topping and a salad for an extra $ 2. They are renaming the Ross Perot burrito The Donald Trump because ‘it’s full of it’, meaning it has a lot of ingredients. The food was okay, more gringo Mexican style than authentic Mexican style. What I did not like and made me upset was the very flimsy plastic fork and knife. I could not enjoy my food while these lousy utensils. I gave the food 3 stars and the restaurant 5 stars for staying in business all these decades.

Good food. Chimichonga was great wish the cheese was more spread out. The taquitos were the best I had in a while, had guacamole that made it taste good. Would come again. That parking lot is trash though. But overall good experience I would say go and try it out.

Chicken taco was pretty dry. Steak taco was ok but pretty spicy. No option for flour tortilla.

I have been here a couple times. Hit and miss. Had the chicken torta today… Not good. Stick with the burritos…

A pretty solid breakfast. They weren’t kidding when they say express bc it came out quick. But for $ 5 it’s a solid burrito with the major fixings, beans, egg, and choice of meat. What more could you ask for? Staff is nice. There aren’t a lot of indoor seats so either eat quickly or take it to go. Not a lot of parking but it’s next to a neighborhood so you can street park there

I don’t know why it’s taking me so long. I have been frequenting burrito express for about six years now. I get one thing and one thing only, and that thing is the best thing in Pasadena. The bean and cheese burrito. I’ve tried other things there and they’re good but I’m a bean kind a guy and this place rocks. My family loves it so much in fact, that we get a small catering tray of beans on a Friday so we can make our own bean and cheese burritos at home. If you’re a bean and cheese burrito kind of person, give this place a try will not be disappointed. Oh, order it with extra cheese!

I was really wavering between 4 and 5 stars on this so I guess it’s 4.5 stars and I’m willing to bump up to 5 since I can’t rate with ½ stars. I was in the area filming a project and Burrito Express was right down the street from our location. I love burritos and although it feels Chipotle has taken the country by storm, I love finding the smaller run businesses and trying them out. I found a jackpot here. Burrito Express is a small restaurant that has a pretty limited menu, but what they have is awesome! I love places like this. I think what I love best is that the burritos stick to the basic burrito ingredients. I had the JVC with chicken and it was a filling, delicious burrito. The perfect comfort food. I scarfed it down between takes and the whole crew raved about the burritos. Service was fast too. I was nervous as I didn’t have a ton of time to go pick up the burritos for my small crew, but they were fast back there and I think it took less than 10 minutes to get in and out of there. I didn’t try anything else, but I’m in that area from time to time and don’t see the need to check out any of the other places around there. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been going here my entire life and my parents have been going since before they started dating. The food is consistent and many of the people there are regulars. Service is quick, even during the lunch rush. My regular meal is the #8(taquito plate with rice beans and chips) with no salad, no guacamole, medium Dr Pepper and one hot sauce. The food is fantastic. Everyone I know has a «usual», one thing that they always get and absolutely love. I’d say give it a shot. The JVC Burrito is probably the most popular thing on the menu. 5 stars for good taste and consistency.

Burrito Express is a go to spot for me in the Dena. Their food is fresh and cooked to order and their portions are large. My favorite burrito is the JVC, yes, yes, double wrapped means double the carbs but it ensures my burrito does not fall apart while eating… which in my opinion is one of the worst things in life! Their salsa is HOT! Just the way I like it. I have not tried much beyond the burritos but I’m not sure why you would go to BURRITO Express for anything other than a burrito.

My absolute favorite Mexican food spot. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is always clean. They have a nice little street facing patio and it can’t be beat. The beans have the best flavor and the food is always consistent and fresh. 5 stars all day.

I have been coming to this place since I was 8 years old(of course my mom was buying at that time). There was a period of time that they changed thier burritos and drove up the prices… and I stopped going, but they have returned back to thier original glory and I still order the same thing to this day: red chicken burrito(with an entire helping of thier hot sauce). I have eaten alot of burritos in my life and this is still the best.

I ordered the cheese and guacamole nachos(without the guac) for myself and my pregnant co-worker. Check out the picture I added. The cheese was very scarce(didn’t even cover the chips) and wasn’t even entirely melted. That’s just lazy. Lazy and cheap. How much does wholesale cheese cost? C’mon. I did not give these to the hungry pregnant lady. I went to Puebla Tacos 2 instead.

The first thing I did when I moved to Pasadena, is look for my new local Mexican spot, that I hate to love because it contributes to weight gain. Fortunately for my skinny jeans, Burrito Express is not that spot. It’s ok, nothing to write home about. pretty big burritos but not that tastiest by any means. Don’t see myself going back here unless someone’s treating me and this is my only choice.

Lets put it like this. I was away from LA for several months for business. The first thing I did after getting home was drive straight up Lake for my plate of Burrito Express’ delicious food. And then my life was complete. Was a bit saddened to find their original owner had finally retired after 40 years, but it was good to know that he was alive, healthy and still active in the business. Instantly got down to business and ordered my favorites; a bean and cheese with green sauce, onions and cilantro(the owners fave too!), and a JVC. OMG. Everything still tasted exactly how I remember: WONDERFUL. Everything made fresh in store(from salsas to chips) along with their yummy icees. I missed this place so much. If you are looking for quality mexican, skip King Taco and come up here if you can. Totally worth it.

I’ve been coming to Burrito express since Vic owned it, and he was shipping frozen Burritos across the country to college students who missed good Mexican food. I usually order breakfast and have something called the Sterling special! Yes that’s right I have my own breakfast dish named after me! But it’s not on the wall don’t look for it! It’s a regular breakfast Burrito with Asada but no tortilla! Cilantro, onions, and cheese, extra green sauce topped with a fried egg or two! I love Fried eggs with good chili Verde! Try it! I want to see my name on the wall!
