The food was really good… I think the bad reviews are fake. I had the beef brisket and my dad had the beef ribs which he really enjoyed. Greens were good, Mac n cheese was good, baked beans were good. I will definitely go here again.

I enjoyed my dinner very much. I gave you three stars because, I wasn’t very pleased with the collard greens. Hence too many stems in greens. Also a little more flavor such as adding a few hot peppers. I have used bagged greens before. Just picking and cutting stems before cooking. Today I almost choked on a stem. I will reorder again just choose cabbage not greats or green beans. Only green beans fresh not canned.

Very disappointed. Came here to see a friend. We were greeted at the door. There was a $ 20 cover charge for people wanting to see the live music. And for people who wanted to eat, they were seated in the back(which you can still hear and see the music.). The man seating us was very particular and unfair. We ordered the full rack baby back ribs with a side of dirty rice and mash potatoes. We also ordered Cajun fries. Our order was delivered to the wrong table. and the other people ate it. No one noticed we didn’t even get our meal for 40+ mins. I thought it just took long cause they had to cook it special or something. The waitress came by and said, «There was something wrong with your order?» Confusing us with the table they gave our food to because they didn’t order it! I said, «Yeah, we haven’t gotten any of our food.» No apology. Bad service. Food was also disappointing. The fried chicken looked like it would’ve tasted better. I would much rather go to Lucille’s.

Brought my family here, as my dsughter suggested this place. Hush puppies were done right, serving size was just right, the waitress continously stop by to check on us. I truly enjoyed my visit here.

This place is a quick fix for some good comfy food that sends me straight to the coach after. This restruant has a jazz atmosphere, it’s not over priced. There tons of slides A bunch of smaller serving plates. Big entrees. I ordered : –Blackened Catfish — I personally drenched it in hot sauce and lemon –Side of Tartar sauce. — I usually don’t eat it with my fish unless fried –Cole slaw. — great, wish a had an extra kick. –Yams — abolutely delicious, wish I could take some home but I ate it all. Other times: –Ribs. — Amazing –Cajun Fries.- Much needed

One of the best fried chickens I’ve ever had! That being said… don’t even bother with the sides, they’re all horrible! The Mac and cheese was bland and the dirty rice was overly spiced in a terrible way. The fries were cold and the corn bread was dry. BUT the chicken was perfectly fried and crispy without being too greasy. Every other Saturday night or so they have a blues band come in and play for a few hours. It’s a nice way to spend your Saturday night. Be sure to make a reservation for the show!

Ive been twice now, and to be honest they could do much better. To be fair, I’ve only been there at lunch time and it might be a whole different vibe on a weekend night. The sauce that they use(seems like its the same for everything) seems like it would be really good for ribs, but on chicken it seemed a bit off. Also, there are several sandwich options but the bread completely ruins the meal. a pile of pulled pork with a squirt of rib sauce on a hamburger bun isn’t going to draw me back in for more.

I ordered the fried catfish lunch. Catfish breading was a little thick for my liking. It comes with two sides I ordered potato salad and green beans. Potato salad was bland and a little sweet with big chunks of potatoes. Green beans were bland and a little on the sweet side. The sides did not fit my pallet. I prefer a more savory side of potato salad and green beans. Overall it was a bit underwhelming of an experience. I would return but never to order what I did.

The coleslaw was good. Everything else was under and complete shit. The food was a disgrace. This is possibly know most definitely the worst cornbread I’ve ever had my life. It’s so dry I almost choked. The meet was new taste like it had been run over and then put in the microwave. The dirty rice had no taste except for hot sauce. I wish I had my $ 35 back. Expensive and shitty.

I have to say the fried chicken is pretty good! I have tried a few other items on the menu and I did enjoy them. The corn muffins I am not a fan they should try something different. I do have one complaint when I paid my bill it was around $ 18.00 with tip. I got a notice from my bank and the charge was $ 2018.00. I guess in the future I will be using cash at this location. I would have at least thought they would have correct their mistake after 5 days. My bank is now taking care of it. In any case, I am still a fan and will go back but with cash only. I went back a few days after I wrote this. They did apologize for the error and they gave me a discount on my order.

The best! The best Soul Food place in Pasadena! This is our go to place on Sunday’s! The customer service is great and this restaurant has a Louisiana style Resturant! The owners are amazing and accommodating! My favorite is the veggie plate! You won’t be disappointed! Bring your appetite! There’s something for the entire family! They have a tv and if your lucky you might just see Pops in front of the tv!

I came here for the Saturday night live blues music. It was my first time here. I enjoyed it so much that I have to share it with you all fine peeps. First, the food. On live music night, there is a $ 15 minimum on food/drink. The food is limited to a preset menu. You get an entrée with salad, 2 sides and corn bread for $ 14.99 + tax. I was reluctant to order the baby back ribs due to the many reviews of it being dry, bland, and overdrowned in sauce. However, the waiter highly recommended it, so I ordered it with the sauce on the side and prayed to a thousand Gods that it’d turn out ok. To my pleasant surprise, it wasn’t dry; bland, maybe a little. The sauce was flavorful, a little spicy & sweet, but not overpowering. I can see why they douse the ribs in it. The collard green was excellent! The potato salad was tasty with a bit of relish mixed in, but a little too sweet for my palate. The corn bread was awesome! However, I do agree with some reviewers in that it’s on the dry side. But slathering it with some old fashioned butter will take care of the problem, baby! ;-) The live music is the main reason for my review. The stage is small, set up right next to an even smaller bar area. But the atmosphere is homey and welcoming, as if the band is performing right in your own dining room. I came with a group to see Kirk Fletcher and Josh Smith perform, and wow, did they blow us away! If they continue to bring in great musicians such as these two, I swear I’ll give all my chores to my mama so that I’ll have time to be here every Saturday night! I thought about not sharing this awesomeness with you all. I wanted to keep the secret all to myself so that the restaurant won’t become overcrowded with sweaty, drunken beasts. But my Christian guilt beckons me to share, so here I am… 3.5 stars for the food, and 5 stars for the live music. You can find the upcoming blues performances at .

Best fried chicken! My family and I wanted to eat at Roscos chicken, the line was so long that we decided to look for something else. We found Big Mamas and now there’s no looking back! The friendly service and home cooked food is no competition! Coming back here for sure!

Haven’t tried their food just yet, but their pecan pie is Ah-May-Zing! They were nice enough to make a fresh one for me so I could take it over to my cousin’s birthday(he is a sucker for pecan pies). The pie has a layer of pecans on top that are not toooooo large or too hard, and the bottom is a sweet gooey layer of goodness that was the perfect level of sweet. I can only hope their food is as good as their pie! Stay Cheerful ;)

I liked Big Mama’s but there were a few issues. The bottom line though — I will be back. It took a very long time and they were not busy. We were there about an hour 40 minutes and it took about an hour before we had our food. We ordered baby back ribs and they were not. Unless it was the biggest baby ever. And sadly for a rib house — the weakest item we had was the ribs. The other items were strong and will bring me back — mac & cheese was outstanding, greens were good, potato salad was excellent and the cornbread was very good. The service was good as well.

They have the best blues music, was there last week with Cadillac Zack: Terry Hanck was rockn it and so was Kid Ramos. We loved it and we were impressed with the food as well. I wish they had a liquor license, however the place is great and casual. If you wish to hear great blues this is the place to go… I loved the cole slaw and the fish was pretty good as well…
