I’m updating my previous review. Dr Gore personally wrote back to me and explained that they were having a transition period when things got a little out of order. I explained that the temporary optician (maybe) were trying to sell me expensive frames which weren’t good for my style and wasn’t patient to find less expensive ones for me. I’m looking forward to visiting the new optic shop. I do wanna get my glasses from him because I trust Dr Gore.
Dr Gore is THE BEST! He gave the most thorough exams I had in 10+ years, always patient and takes his time to explain everything. The two receptionists are both not very friendly. Twice I tried to find frames there and neither was a pleasant experience. I would suggest do your examinations here with Dr Gore, and get your glasses elsewhere.

I hate going to the eye doctor – mostly because I’m so nearsighted that trying to read that eye chart is so humiliating. Wait… I can’t read the eye chart! But, Dr. Gore’s professionalism, knowledge, and general friendly manner makes going to get my eyes checked worthwhile. He also alerts me to eye concerns that may need to be examined by an ophthalmologist, which shows to me that he also has a great deal of humility and knows his limits. But if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t even know about those concerns in the first place. (Note: I am not your average patient and have more severe eye-​health concerns than most, so in your case, he most likely will be able to care for all of your optical needs.)
I will most definitely keep coming to him for my regular visits in conjunction to going to the ophthalmologist because he is THAT good! And Socorro, who handles the front desk, is awesome.

Had my first eye exam here today. Dr. Gore is very thorough, polite and easy going. I would definitely recommend him to others and will come back here again.

Professional, gentle, thorough, kind, articulate, helpful… I would rate him 10 stars if I could! He will give you complete, accurate information in a warm, humane environment. Dr. Gore is absolutely the best for your eyes!

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Gore for our eye exams for a while, and we both like him a lot — very thorough, very compassionate, respectful. But this time, I bought glasses from their office, and I was blown away! I loved their selection of frames, it wasn’t the same old designers you see everywhere else. They give a discount if you buy the day of your eye exam, and that ended up saving me a fortune. I got 3 pairs that day, and I am super pleased with all of them. High quality, really sharp in both form and function. I was already sold on Dr. Gore, but now I know I will get my glasses there in the future.

Dr. Gore was very thorough, knowledgeable and good. Front desk was completely unprofessional.

I absolutely love this optometrist! He is nice and answered all of my questions and I felt very comfortable with him! Also the lovely receptionists were helpful in picking a pair of glasses and very knowledgeable in explaining the insurance coverage and overall out of pocket fees. She even gave me a pair of contacts and solution to last me up until my new contacts come in. This is my new eye doctor:)

Dr. Gore is an awesome optometrist. Not only is he beyond thorough, he is very knowledgable and easy going. I had a great experience at the office and actually bought a new pair of prescription sunglasses using the hand coupon they gave me. The office is small, but it’s perfect for what’s needed. I am definitely glad that I was able to find someone who is good at what they do and so close to where I live!

Andrew examined my eyes accurately, but gave me a weaker prescription than I wanted. My glasses maker (Moda on Lake Street in Pasadena) told me I wouldn’t be able to read as well with this new prescription… and he was right. Dr. Gore and I parted company.

Now I know why Dr. Gore has such great reviews! Nicest gals at the front desk. Loved being able to print my paperwork before going to my appointment. They brought me right in and I was able to fit my appointment into my lunch break.
Even though my eyes aren’t that bad at all, the Doc was very thorough and did all the tests. He was very aware of both my overall health and the health of my eyes.
Comfortable, old fashioned and nostalgic office. Reminded me of my childhood doctors office. Sad that I’m moving! I’d definitely go back.

Had a great experience at Dr. Gore’s office today! He was very thorough in explaining all parts of the eye exam to me and answering all of my questions. I wanted to try contacts for the first time and they were able to get me in for a fitting in the same day when another person cancelled their appointment. Dr. Gore was patient in teaching me how to use my new lenses and tried several different brands until we found the ones that fit my eyes best. The ladies at the front desk helped me pick my frames — it was great to have a second opinion since I came to my exam alone. Great discounts if you buy products the same day as your eye exam. Frames were stylish and reasonably priced, and all costs were broken down for me in a way that was easy to understand. Highly recommend!

Had an appointment w Dr. Gore based on all of the phenomenal reviews he received on here (well, that and the fact that the office is really convenient for me: P) and I’m soooo glad I did cause he’s great! I’ve been to at least a half dozen diff optometrists and he is, by far, one of the most thorough screenings I’ve had and he also offers that photograph thing of the back of your eye for another 25 $… cool stuff!
Selection of glasses is pretty bare but that’s not what I came for anyway so I’m def super satisfied.

I had so much fun at my appointment today. I arrived and enjoyed cookies and fresh coffee. The woman at the front desk was very nice and thorough. Dr. Gore was wonderfully calm and relaxing. I was able to see photos of the inside of my eye and learn quite a bit about eye anatomy. It was so interesting and pleasant that I wanted to stay and learn all about optometry.
My appointment with Dr. Gore and a sweet potato sandwich at Euro Pane downstairs from his office really made my day. Strange but true!

Doctor Gore is wonderful. He’s soft spoken and thorough. He answers all of your questions, never makes you feel like you’re in a rush, and always explains what he’s doing. I love coming here. The ladies at the front desk are really nice and make you feel like you’re waiting in your living room. They offer tea and cookies and are quick to help if you have a question about billing or some glasses you’re trying on.
It’s the only doctor visit I look forward to going to every year.

If you have ever been terrified of going to the eye doctor then Dr. Gore is the Doc you should go to. Here’s why:
1. There are tea, and cookies when you arrive. Trader joe’s dark chocolate chunk cookies and some Tazo tea? What a great little pick me up.
2. He is very mild mannered, friendly, and he has a very soothing voice. He may have missed his calling as a voice for guided meditation.
3. He has a retinal eye camera! It’s so cool. It does cost around $ 20, but he takes a picture of your eye then explains where the optic nerve is, the veins and arteries in your eye and a lot of other fun facts.
4. He does not make you do that weird blow in your eye thing to check for glaucoma, just a blue light with some yellow dye, much less painful.
5. His receptionists are super friendly. I happened in on their anniversary sale where there was cupcakes, and some mighty good deals on sunglasses. I had a really great time chatting, and trying on sunglasses. I’d never really thought of the eye doctor as a shopping experience, but I ended up with two pairs.
End result: If you are in Pasadena and you are looking for a high quality, high integrity, truly excellent eye doctor, then come see Dr. Gore.

When I saw all 5 star reviews, I was skeptical. But after meeting Dr Gore and now seeing him for 2 years, I am so happy I found him through Unilocal.
Make sure you call ahead of time as he’s normally booked up for weeks. Be prepared to wait at least two weeks before an opening date as he is popular. They validate parking, so just park in the bank parking structure in the building.
I have been wearing glasses since I was 10 and he is of the nicest docs I’ve encountered in LA. He is really patient and does a thorough job with the eye exam. He takes his time and you never feel rushed in his office. I love that he is super nice and even suggested looking for cheaper contacts online…:)
Finding amazing docs like him is one of the reasons I love Unilocal.Dr Gore is really as good as it gets! I can’t recommend him enough.
