I have to say farewell to Hill’s Hallmark after many many years of shopping there. I attempted to stop in quickly and get some Thank you cards while I was walking by before running to dinner at the taste of Park Ridge. I saw that they were breaking down the sidewalk sale portion so I figured they would be closing soon. I went in and went to the back to round the corner to get to Thank you section. Lots of boxes in the way so I waited for the woman to move so I could squeeze by grab some cards and get out. I was told by the woman(who I believe to be the owner) that she would LET me past to do a quick run through. I kept right on walking through and vow to never come back and spend my money there again. If you don’t need the business that’s fine by me. I wasn’t browsing, I wasn’t in there for hours while you were trying to close, I actually looked like I was in a hurry. We continued on and went to the taste to have dinner. I would like to add that almost 35 minutes later when we walked by again, there were still customers checking out and the staff was still bringing in sidewalk sale merchandise from the outside AND the door was still open. I have shopped there for years, purchased almost every mother’s day gift for the grandmothers and teacher gifts for the teachers, and also am a platinum crown rewards member. I vow to find another store that needs my business from now on. Shame on you Hill’s. I certainly thought you valued your customers more then making them feel like they are bothering you. That five minutes I would have spent in the store from start to finish certainly didn’t get you home any sooner.

Very cute store– but super cramped. I was carrying my 16month old(a must in a store like this) and trying to hold my 4 year old’s hand while we searching for something for their dad. I couldn’t fit down the aisle’s with a baby in arms. Maybe it’s not so bad when not set up for Christmas. Store looked clean and had a good inventory– just way tinier than I had hoped. Very hard store to go to with kids– but thank god I didn’t bring in the stroller/that would have been nearly impossible!

I journeyed to Hallmark for 4 St. Joseph Day cards. Lots of construction going on in front! Detour was around the back to the back door to get in. Quite inconvenient, but anyway, I had a 5.00 coupon to use for 15.00 or more items. Even tho my total didn’t reach that, I asked Lori if she could honor it for the inconvenience of having to walk around the back and miss my bus. She happily accepted it and left with my purchase. How nice! All you have to do is ask! Thanks to everyone there! Laurie, Renate, and I’m sorry, I don’t remember the other lady’s name. God Bless

My wife’s favorite store on the Prospect Ave. shopping strip — other than Subway of course. Located next to the Starbuck’s and across from the PR Library, seems she has an inner 6th sense that tells her when a special sale is happening here. It’s more than cards. They carry an extensive collection of stuffed animals. I can’t take my 2 year old in there without him picking up an animal near the front window and then walking around the store with it as he sucks his thumb vigorously. It is also the place where I bought my wife a Precious Moments figurine entitled«With This Ring I…» when I got it for her as a gift to accompany her engagement ring almost 12 years ago. The staff is very friendly and keeps the line moving if it’s busy. The back of the store usually has the best bargains and close-out items. Yes, if you need a graduation-themed item in July or August, you can find it there. Same with boxed Christmas cards, though they tend to be tackier than the day-after-Christmas specials at Kohl’s or elsewhere. And on the way out, watch your step. There’s an unexpected drop if you walk out thinking your foot will touch the sidewalk as you step out the door.
