Advocate Medical Group

Went in for an annual check up with my wife. Since we are always pretty healthy, we really haven’t seen a doctor in a while. I had an iPhone list of 8 – 10 things that I wanted to get checked on (which I had carefully saved over 2 – 3 years). Since we didn’t know any better, we didn’t ask for a specific doctor. Upon seeing the man in residency, I asked him if I could read off the list of things I had concerns about. He said, sure, and that he would certainly look into the items. He then started to transcribe then as I described them one by one. Then he said, «I’ll be right back». That was the end. He never came back. They took our insurance money and that was that. Even right up until leaving, I was still waiting for the man to come back and address my concerns, but he never came back. Oddest experience. So many of these medical groups are a revolving door for getting your instance money and not providing the service.
What I learned is that you should always know your doc and make appointments with your doctor that you trust. Do business with medical groups that run their practice in prudent and honest way.

Truly a medical home. You can see an internist, specialists, chiropractor here. They really believe in team-​based care and can include diabetes educators, social worker, pharmacists, dietician, and care managers to help you get healthier. They also have a lab and X-​ray on site and are located right across the street from Lutheran General Hospital. It is part of this teaching hospital so there are always medical students and residents around. The doctors here really care about you.
