The only saving grace for this place was the view. We sat ourselves around 7 on a Friday night after waiting at the hostess stand for a few minutes. After waiting at our table in the almost completely empty restaurant for 15, we were about to leave when the waitress finally showed up. We were thinking of ordering entrees or the buffet for dinner, but it was so stifling hot in here that we ended up with club sandwiches and glasses of local, chilled white wine instead.(The owner did apologize for the heat. Apparently it’s due to the antiquated heating and cooling system, which takes a few days to switch between the two.) The food was delivered to our table by someone from the kitchen because apparently our waitress forgot about us and it had been sitting under the warmers for a while. It was overall bland but edible. The meat on the sandwiches tasted like deli meat you’d pick up from the pre-packaged aisle at the grocery store, and the cheese was Kraft singles. My onion rings were pretty good, but my husband’s fries were disappointing. The waitress came by to say how much she likes the fries and how the cook puts this really great seasoning on them, and then she looked down at my husband’s plate and said, «Oh, I guess he forgot to put the seasoning on this time… Well, it’s really great if you get a chance to try it!» Thanks, lady. Keep telling us about how awesome the food is when it’s prepared correctly, but don’t actually offer to bring us properly prepared food. The wine was too sweet for my taste, and my husband’s glass had some really gross sediment at the bottom that we noticed after he’d drunk most of it. We finished our food, and the waitress brought us a to-go box and our check. Then in the theme of the evening, we waited 15 minutes for her to come and pick it up while she stood around and talked to a friend who had entered the restaurant. She only came to our table when we started packing up our stuff and standing to leave.(We were planning to ask the front desk if we could pay the bill there.) As we stood around waiting for her to bring back the check, this awful waitress had the audacity to suggest we come back for breakfast the next morning. I can safely say that we won’t be coming back here. Ever.

We enjoyed a panoramic view of the Kentucky countryside while eating generous portioned, delicious lunch. The Memphis burger was huge and tasty. The Kentucky specialty sandwich was gigantic and uniquely delicious. Service was friendly and while the building is from 1962ish, it was clean and neat. Prices reasonable and a small kid menu. Highly recommend as a lunch stop if you’re in the area. Mammoth Caves, Cave City or Park Ciry.
