One of the sadder waffles that I’ve ever had… just very plain all around, with basic from-a-box-mix-like batter, probably a 1-star dish that should never be ordered. The breakfest skillet was much better though, a 4-star dish.

Used to go there often before their renovations but hadn’t been for some time. Had dinner there late saturday nite and was extremely pleased with the meals. From the service to the food, it was a great experience. Ordered the tuna stack with the greek salad and it had to be the best greek salad i had ever had. they have mediterranean fries that were amazing — basil mayo, feta, mozz and capers and olives too! totally awesome! i hate going to a diner and finding a menu that’s 8 pages long — to me it means that they aren’t going to be able to do any single option well, but the suburban diners options were exactly what i was looking for and the three of us ordered very different things and everyone was quite pleased with them. our waiter was spot-on with service too and that made everything even better. KUDOS to Suburban! New favorite diner!

Clean, fast service, and great waiter. Nutella Smores Pancakes were DELICIOUS. Only minor complaint was music came up a little too loud for a diner setting, other than that it was perfect.

Good diner, it is a convenient location on 17, on the way home from work for me. The food is good, standard for a diner, nothing that stands out to me. The upgraded inside is nice from what it used to look like. The wait staff are always good, and friendly.

Have been here before and love the food and dessert… the service is rather fast but the staff doesn’t have it together. after ordering my order, the server told me my order was«wierd» and waited for me to change it so I ended up not ordering what I wanted. he then proceded to tell me he would bring my soup right away. it’s been 10 minutes… wow

Suburban Diner is a pretty nice diner on Route 17. The parking is a hit or miss on the weekends and every time I have come it’s busy but don’t let that stop you! Three words: NUTELLASMORESPANCAKES!!! I died and went to heaven after eating these!!! They are gooey, chocolatey, and delicious! We got the pancakes for the table to share. For my breakfast I got the Mediterranean Benedict. It’s toasted pita bread with poached eggs, feta cheese, sliced tomatoes and spinach. It also comes with homefries. It was pretty good, and the portions are humongous. I could only finish half. For 4 breakfasts, an order of pancakes, 1 coffee, &2 slices of cake to go the bill was around $ 75… For breakfast(AT A DINER) this is a little expensive compared to other diners in jersey. But I guess for the portion size it’s a fair price. All in all, I would most likely return.

Came around 2am on a Saturday night and there were 5 – 6 parties consistently rotating in and out… not as depressing as I thought it would be, The food was typical diner fare, nothing to rave about, bad french fries is my only complaint. The guy at the register was really nice, gave us a free dessert on our way out and our waitress was chipper and offered suggestions. All in absolutely OKAY, and happy to have a late night option in Bergen County.

I have been here several times before, always for breakfast. At about 9am on a Saturday, we were seated immediately. Plenty of great items on the menu, and a ton of pastries at the front counter. Coffee was good, just right in fact – on the cusp of strong. We ordered a breakfast bowl and a pancake roll. Surprised to see the new plates were these silver, reflective metal things. Not the usual stoneware, so I noticed it right away. Food was great. The pancake wrap was so good. Tasty pancake, fluffy eggs, juicy sausage. I tried to finish it, but I couldn’t. But so darn good! Drank 3 cups of coffee b/c they just kept filling it. Don’t think you can go wrong at this place.

Haven’t been here for years but I’m very pleased with the breakfast. My brother got the ‘little miss piggy’ and I’m impressed that they served with maple syrup. I’m also happy my eggs Benedict came with a side of spinach because I was torn between classic and spinach versions and I got to enjoy both.

When I think of a New Jersey diner I think of large portions of breakfast. I thought the menu of offerings was fantastic but I was disappointed in the quantity of food. My pancake roll up barely had any eggs that could be found and I felt like I was eating a plain rolled up pancake. It was dismal when compared the pancake roll up at the Brownstones restaurant. Parking is also a bit difficult during peak times. Be ready to circle around like you’re at the mall but in a much tighter space.

I had to update my review after trying the disco fries. When I first tried their side of fries with a sandwich, I said they were some of the best fries that I’ve ever had. I couldn’t wait to try their disco fries so I returned a week later. Oddly enough, the fries weren’t anything special at all. I don’t know why the fries were delicious the first time. You’d get the exact same thing at any diner in Jersey. Just wanted to make sure I was getting any other Unilocalers’ expectations up and letting them down. With that said, if you’re ordering a breakfast dish, I still recommend swapping your side of hashbrowns with fries– much tastier choice. I had terrible service during my last visit. My server didn’t check on us for over 30 minutes so my boyfriend and I decided to leave instead of getting more food. We literally had the entire staff trying to hunt down our waitress for the check for about 5 minutes… I blame Suburban for being understaffed because we could tell that she was being overworked, not just ignoring us. She was taking care of way more tables than a person can handle. A while back I tried an omelette and remember hating it because it was so dry. Recently, I tried the egg flatbread sandwich based off other reviews– mozzarella, egg, tomato, and bacon. probably wouldn’t order the sandwich again. Maybe I’d give it a second chance and sub the bacon with Taylor ham because I really liked the bread. Another pro is that the sandwich was so big that my friend and I we’re able to split it. Their dessert case looks amazing, BUT I’m a little skeptical to give them a try. Very few reviews mention their dessert. And during my most recent visit I made sure to pay attention to other tables and saw some half eaten desserts on the table… REDFLAG. I’m not sure if they’re just super filling or suck. My brother tried their tiramisu and liked it, but he’ll eat anything so I don’t trust him hahaha. Overall Suburban Diner is much classier and cleaner than other diners in the area. However, there’s no food that has truly stuck out to me yet. And I find some of their prices to be absolutely ridiculous for a diner. My boyfriend and I were actually reading their menu for amusement and laughing at their insane prices. $ 18 for Eggplant Parm… We just paid the same price at an upscale Italian restaurant last week. They need to realize that they are a DINER. I’m sure I’ll be back again when I’m craving diner food nearby, but its not my top choice.

Well the revamp has made this place much more appealing, the customer service could use a bit more help. I came here with my 3 year old for a mommy and me breakfast. From the get go our waitress seemed less then enthusiastic about serving us for whatever reason. Maybe it was because she realized it’d probably be a smaller check since my little person doesn’t eat so much? Who knows… Anyways, I hadn’t been here in years and it was on the way up to my parents house so I figured why not. This place serves typical diner fare. Breakfast, all day, just what we wanted at 2 pm lol. So I opted for the egg panini. Fried egg, mozzarella, bacon, and tomatoes on a doughy pita like pressed panini. The portion was huge and came 3 halves to the sandwich and lackluster homefries, with no flavor. The sandwich was great, very tasty. Homefries, we’re eh, kinda gross. No flavor and burnt pieces mixed in. My daughter had the 2 egg platter with bacon, toast, and french fries. It was good, but nothing amazing. In fact the toast was too toasted. The portions were both pretty big and we both brought half our meals to go. The waitress was just off. A smug look on her face, no small talk, and just whatever. I feel like she could of been a bit more personable. For $ 25 including tip for breakfast, I wasn’t that impressed. But I did see an exstensive salad list which always catches my attention, so I may give it another chance. Just hopefully I will get a waitress with a personality next time.

Came here specifically for desserts after a full meal at another restaurant. Walked in to be greeted by a large glass display of desserts, tarts, cookies and cakes. I was immediately ready to try anyone of them. The funny thing is that all the desserts look proportional to each other in the case… and then you notice that the cookies are the size of a dinner plate, which is when you realize how large each piece is. This only makes it more amazing… One of the servers noticed our group trying to settle on something, so helped us by introducing us to the different items. Our party ended up with the baklava cheesecake, blueberry tart, apple strudel and an éclair. They were individually packaged for us in boxes and we took it home to share. The blueberry tart with it’s mound of cream and perfect crust got my top vote, but the baklava cheesecake came a close second. A return visit is scheduled in the future…

Oh my god… what a way to start off the new year! I ordered«the original bowl» — a bowl filled with home fries, avocado, tomatoes, bacon(I got a substitute for turkey bacon), and two eggs over easy. Absolutely out of this world, incredible! Officially will be my choice for breakfast here on out. Perfect in portion sizing. YUM!

I have been a customer of Suburban Diner for many years. It is a staple for those in the area. It is conveniently located on Route 17 north, right across the highway you will find Starbucks. There is always ample parking, but it can be somewhat difficult if you come on a Sunday morning. This is a nice typical diner with the standard menu. Whenever i order food here it comes out exactly how i ordered it. The wait time is generally 5 – 10 minutes, which is reasonable in my eyes. As for the food, it is a typical diner and does the job. I must note that the staff are all great here. It does not matter if you are a couple of high school kids or young professionals, they will all treat you with the same level of respect. The prices are typical diner prices and are all reasonable. This diner has a much more seating space as compared to your typical diner, which is always good. I once came here with a group of 10 people and they were able to accommodate us in no time at all. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone in the area looking for a good diner. Word to the wise, if you are going to come on a Sunday morning, come early, around 9am. It will start to pick up around that time. I would rate The Suburban Diner as follows: Staff is 5 Stars, Food gets 3.5 Stars, Atmosphere gets 4 Stars and Price gets 4 Stars. The views expressed are of my own and are my true personal experience at this establishment. My personal experience may not reflect this actual establishment, their quality or someone else’s experience at the establishment.

Fantastic food, great hospitality. Stopped by here for late night dessert! Definitely recommend, unlimited choice of items to choose from. Check out the desserts! One small concern… they advertise 24 hours but when leaving @ 130am, we heard the manager say to guests coming in door, they are closing @ 2am. Maybe it was a one time thing, but an fyi! Enjoy!

Dinned here on a very busy Saturday night before Thanksgiving. Although our original plans were to seek out a chain restaurant I’m glad we didn’t. The place was packed but we were immediately seated. Our service was spot on. We didn’t have to wait for menus, more water, or for our food. I must say they are running a well oiled machine. The menu was large, too large actually but had everything you could possibly crave. Our waitress knew each dish well and was able to answer every question we had regarding ingredients. I ordered a fall salad which consisted of cranberries, mixed greens, chicken, walnuts, and roasted sweet potatoes. My spouse ordered a specialty burger with a fried egg and ham and a side of disco fries. All I can say is the food was fantastic and the portion size much larger then expected. My only complaint would be the price of the salad — at $ 13.95 but then again this is Jersey and prices are higher. We would definitely dine here again if we ever find ourselves back in the area.

From reading some of the reviews here, you get the feeling that Bergen County has turned into Snobville. Reading stuff like, «Excellent food and service, but you know it’s just a diner so I give it 3 stars». Really? Snobs… Ate here recently, and having not been here for 30 years growing up in Paramus, but I thought it was just fucking great.

Wow. I read a few of the other recent reviews before posting this, and had a moment of self-doubt about the 5*; but in truth, our visit merited them. This was the platonic ideal of diner-dom. No wait even at 10 a.m. on a Sunday morning(we checked in to be told ’10 min, maybe less’ — and had not even turned around before the waitress was there to seat us!). Similing waitress and rapid service both in order taking and food delivery — ok, that would get you 3 or 4*. The Greek omelette, though, was stupidly good: balance of brine from the olives, perfectly cooked eggs, flavour from tomatoes and feta — awesome. [OK, full disclosure: we had flown into JFK the night before and crashed at a local hotel, then made sure to get out of Manhattan before seeking breakfast that morning — so maybe I was hungry :). Still, a really _really_good omelette.] Latte was certainly drinkable, even for a coffee snob(i.e. me). Others had pancakes that were diner-standard but just fine(and the apple-cinnamon option worked well, lots of moist apple in the centre executed well); sausage as expected; real maple syrup is a big plus even if it was clearly not grade A or B. Bacon was cooked correctly. All good, relatively cheap, exactly what we were seeking. No, the 5* does not mean ‘gourmet’ or ‘foodie’ or ‘molecular gastronomy’(!) here — what it means is that any time I am looking for a diner in NJ, this is the place I would start with. «As good as it gets» — yep, this place did exactly what one would hope for from a diner. We skipped the bakery case, but it looked both good and in ENORMOUS pieces :).
