This place is the worst sarku in the area. Maybe because they are an «express» store. The garden state mall one looks cleaner and food is at least consistent. The meat are just ok. it’s really hard to mess up chicken and other meats when you just tepanyaki cook them with sauce. Never order their sushi rolls. No taste whatsoever and I threw them away after one bite because it tasted like a stomach virus to be.

I’m feeling generous here with 3 stars. I’d really rate it 2.5. Located in the Bergen Mall a decent is Japanese food. For deluxe bento box, you get a choice of chicken, beef, or shrimp teriyaki or tofu(for vegetarians) with rice or lo mein noodles. The bento includes 4 California sushi pieces, 2 shrimp tempera, sweet potato and zucchini tempera and mix vegetables. It sounds a lot but the portions are small. The deluxe bento is priced between $ 8.50 to $ 10 which is average pricing considering other food court pricing. For example, you can go to Whole Foods(across from Sarku) and spend $ 12 for salad only. However, I’m disappointed that this place doesn’t serve kids meal anymore. I really don’t understand why they got rid of it either especially when there’s families with small children coming here to eat. It’s so inconvenient to buy one adult size and ask for a plate to split up the portion for the kids.

The customer service is great. But the wait for your food is crazy. How did I wait over 15 mins for sushi at an express location? For having three people working the counter and 3 in the kitchen one would think you would actually receive your food in a timely manner

The most horrible teriyaki chicken. The worst Sarku Japan outlet. The sauce was super watery and the meat was not cooked properly.

If it wasn’t for my wife and kids I would never return here. Honestly, cannot complain about the food — you get what you pay for at $ 8. Props to the brave soul who is brave enough to try the sushi. My rating is exclusively for the staff and service. They are the nastiest jerks you can find and don’t hesitate to tell you to leave when they screw up. The last time we were there, they ran out of white rice so they(on their own) changed it to brown rice, which is what they had left. Before that, they changed one chicken teriyaki to a beef dish because they ran out. Here’s a suggestion — how about telling the customer that you are sold out before taking their money? It’s my opinion that they are just about taking the order/money and giving you whatever plate of slop they have left. Think about it… once you are standing there with a plate of food in front of you, are you really going to go through the effort of these idiots trying to process a refund? Avoid this place like the plague!

You order chicken teriyaki and veggies and get lots and lots of veggies and barely any chicken. Way too big of a portion too. But I guess not much is expected from a mall food court joint.

I have been to many different Sarku Japans. This one is THEWORST by far… I would rate this establishment 0 stars if I could. The staff is rude. The service is terrible. The food is sub par. If you want a good Sarku, go somewhere else. Once you walk in you notice the scowls on the worker’s faces. They look at you with annoyance when taking your order. You can tell nobody wants to be there and they hate you for making them do work. The older heavy set woman and the tall younger man are two of the worst human beings I’ve ever interacted with. If you dare ask for anything on the side… good luck to you. Every review since 2015 is only 1 star. I found out why the hard way. I would never set foot in there again. I’d rather eat lead. The staff is friendly but the food is bland. I had the beef bento box and the salad was old and the meat had no flavor even with the teriyaki sauce. The rice was super soggy that I couldn’t even eat it. The California rolls were the only thing good. I’ve eaten at other Sarku locations and never had an issue. I definitely won’t be coming back.

Sloppy and unprofessional staff behind the register. They do not look like they want to be there in the first place. Food was very poor considering this is a chain restaurant. There should be standards met. Soggy wet rice, pale/brown vegetables, and poorly cooked fatty«chicken». I recommend sticking to GSP or Paramus Park Sarku. If you’re at Begen Mall, save your time/appetite and eat elsewhere.

The food here is pretty bland and gross. It’s your typical below-average mall food, but much closer to the bottom of the spectrum as far as mall food is concerned. I’m sure that shoppers go here purely out of convenience. You’re much better off walking down to Bobby’s Burger Palace or picking up some prepared food at Whole Foods.

Sarku serves fast food chicken covered in teriyaki sauce that you can buy at the super market. Not good, not bad, but most importantly, not expensive. You can have a filling meal for less than $ 10. I usually get the chicken teriyaki combo with rice. Brown rice is an option, which is nice. You can also get noodles. I’ve had a spicy tuna roll. I’d pass on sushi at this place.

Been here in the past and it’s always been an okay place to get fast food teriyaki. I went today a day ordered the deluxe steak bento. It was after the lunch rush, and not many people there waiting, but I still waited a long time. The tempura shrimp and veggies were cold and soggy. The California roll was alright. But the beef teriyaki was overly peppery and tasted more like stew than any teriyaki I’ve ever had. Wondering if they changed management because the people I used to see were nowhere to be found.

This was my first visit to any Sarku Japan. It was Tuesday afternoon at 5:30pm. The menu didn’t seem too vast so at least that means I didn’t have to spend much time staring at it. I ordered the chicken & shrimp teriyaki meal which came with mixed vegetables and a choice of rice or noodles. I choose noodles. There is seating both inside and outside of the store in the mall area. The counter people were friendly and the food was quick and delicious. I just didn’t care much for throwing away the tupperware after one use. It felt wasteful.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend and will not try again. I’ll stick to the delicious sandwich shop across the street.

This place is okay but like the other people on Unilocal they are cheap with the portions. Also, they are expensive ordering for a family of four is close to 30 bucks and for that I can go to a buffet and eat all I can eat. We go here because it’s convenience because the Bergen Mall does not have much selection with the food. They food is edible but way over priced.

This is the worst Sarku I’ve ever been to. REALLY stingy with portions, MORE expensive than nearby Sarkus(like the one at Garden State Plaza), rice was dry and overcooked, barely any meat. They’re so blatantly cheap with their portions it’s not even funny. They’re only in business because BTC doesn’t have a food court. If they did they’d be long gone by now.

Do I REALLYNEED to give this place any star(s) at all? Deserves NO stars… WOW First off, this place needs to stop being so cheap with their meat. I ordered the basic chicken teriyaki and I got tiny 5 pieces of meat and the rest was a box of rice and some vegetables. Did I just pay $ 6-$ 7 for a tupperwear of rice? Yes, but never again. I am not whatsoever a picky eater, but just look at all the other reviews. I By this, I am utterly disappointed.
