This park is bad needs improvement. It’s ghetto plain and simple. I wish I could bring my kids here but I don’t feel safe bringing them here. Weird men are always hanging around. Don’t trust this place.

If you don’t mind the dogs taking a crap on the sidewalk around the park, the kids oblivious to their surroundings taking a step in front of you right as you are jogging up to them, the fat moms with their obnoxious kids getting in line on the sidewalk in the way of the path you jog for ice cream or corn, the old men ogling you as you jog pass them, groups of teenage girls walking together in a line taking up the whole sidewalk and not being courteous enough to move over while you’re jogging by making you be the one to step off the sidewalk or into the grass, the couples making out in their cars(or doing a little more than making out) parked along the sidewalk next to park, or the loser 20&30 year old boys smoking weed, it makes for a great place to go for a jog. I gotta say the best part about this park is that its got nice trees and you occasionally see a cute dog.

Been coming to this park since back when I still had all my baby teeth, then I lost them by falling off the huge jungle gym that was made out of steel/metal and stood atop a wide circle of rough beach sand. That was the 90s though. Flashforward to 2013. The jungle gym is now one of those mild plastic models with that spongy foam material underneath. The dirty stream of water that used to snake through the park is gone too, but I don’t miss that feature because I’m anti-West Nile Virus. After a good rain this park gets flooded so the part that is closest to Orizaba becomes swampy marshland for a few days. No basketball courts. There’s like one baseball diamond, although I usually see the field used for that great global sport known as Futbol. And there’s something of an empty oval pool with steps and pillars that the locals like to frequent for their skateboarding sessions. Lately because of my new year’s resolution to get fit as hell before the summer, I’ve been coming here in the morning two or three times a week to jog. There’s usually people here powerwalking, regular walking, or smoking da reefer by the parking lot but never too crowded or overly shady. One time in the early hours of the night, a police car was patrolling the parking lot and busted a young couple«doing it» in their car(the windows were all foggy Titanic style nah I mean?) so for the young lovers out there, beware! Why was I there hanging out and watching all this? well that is another spicier story… I’ll save it for my autobiography.

Park is great. Many years ago, it had a beautiful little stream lake around the park but carelessness from people throwing trash into the water made the stream get really polluted. Now, the city was forced to take out the whole lake and replace it with a lot more grass. 4 laps around the top of the park is equal to a mile. No dogs are(supposably) allowed at the park but I always walk my dogs and I don’t see anyone enforce this, which is great because my dogs love walking around and so do I. There’s always people early morning exercising and in the afternoon, people walking around exercising some more by running, jogging, playing soccer or walking their pets. During holidays, the park gets packed.
