Normally, this is a fair place for breakfast, but yesterday something happened that completely put me off my feed. The cashier(who isn’t the quietest mouse in the cupboard) was explaining her«misery’s» to her friend in loud and painful detail. Sitting four tables away, I really didn’t need to hear about the ‘holes in her leg’ and how her operation was mishandled, etc etc etc, while trying to enjoy my biscuits and gravy.

The décor would be cute if it was clean and a little updated, but as it is, its drab and a bit run down looking. The food quality is not the best either. I ordered french toast, it was burnt and underwhelming. The bacon was also over cooked and the grits were soupy. My husband ordered the combination omelet, also burnt, and the ham inside was low quality. In his words«its like cheep processed lunch meat chopped up». The service was also extreamly lacking, no refills or even a check back to see if we needed something. I do not recommend this place.

Love this Southern buffet. Everything is delicious and fresh. Pork chops, more southern veggies than I have heard of. Pass up Golden Corral when this place is near.

Decently priced buffet with good ol’ country cooking. Homemade chicken noodle soup with huge chunks of real chicken, banana pudding like grandma use to make, and all the other country type foods you’d expect; greens, beans, fresh and not frozen meats, and homemade biscuits. Absolutely delicious, homemade, comfort food. Definitely better than the average home style buffet.

Wow what a lunch seafood buffet today excellent fish shrimp & stuffed crab and probably some of the best fried chicken around.

Bring on the southern, heart stopping food… And plenty of it! Yes, that is a compliment. This isn’t fine dining, so do not come here if you are looking for such a thing. If you want some comfort food, this is your place.

Price is what I think is great about this place. You get a good amount of country cooking for a very great price. I did not try the breakfast buffet but that seemed to be what everyone was going after and it did look very good! I went for a bacon biscuit!

What a neat place! Full of rich local history. You can really learn a lot about the town just by gazing upon the walls. The food here is very good. I am not disappointed in any way. Good southern cooking and decent desserts. They have very friendly service and my glass was never empty. The train tracking around the entire restaurant is a very nice touch. Be sure you ask about the plate system if you have never been here before. Plate system you say? Yes. Plate system. You see there are 3 colors(red, white and blue) and each one signifies different entitlement to what you eat and pay.

The sweet tea might give you diabetes its so sweet. The food was amazing. The pecan pie made me instantly hate anyone who had fed me a pecan pie before for their mediocrity. By far the best pecan pie ever. EVER. Every day is a different special and they are all good.

This definitely was a great find! Thanks Unilocal reviewers! Buffet style @ $ 10.75 per person worth ever penny of it! All their food is homemade — even the desserts. Best pecan pie EVER!!! do you hear me… BESTPECANPIEEVER!!! It’s a strip mall gem. They also sell their desserts by the pound– holy cow… Comment from one of the gray hairs(67+ relatives) — «I think they put some sleeping pills in that food; I need a nap». That’s a compliment of the best kind. We will definitely be looking that place up again.

The buffet is great. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. Not overloaded by fried foods. Lots of great sides. Nice staff. Apparently Rick Scott ate there once, there’s a signed picture of him on the wall.

Best buffet in Bay County. While the choices are small, they actually cook the food from scratch. I’ll take fresh food and less choices any day. The Mac and Cheese is like the kind my mom used to make for our family.

It was okay. Unfortunately, I went there later than expected and breakfast was almost over. I blame someone that will remain nameless but they know who they are. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The grits were a little salty and there was not a great deal of food choices on the buffet. The eggs were decent but the biscuits were very heavy. It was mostly heat lamp warmed leftovers. Make sure you go with someone that knows how to tell time.

I can’t remember exactly, but I think it has been about 7 or 8 months since we ate at Granny Cantrell’s. They have a model train set that runs a track near the ceiling that keeps the kids mesmerized. We’re big fans of their breakfast buffet. Very reasonably priced/inexpensive, and a nice variety of items including Tomato Gravy(yum!). I don’t think they have the breakfast buffet every day, so you might want to call ahead to find out. They also have a breakfast menu from which you can order. We went back at a different time for their lunch buffet… This was a completely different story. The buffet is not large to begin with(think: 1 side of the buffet at Golden Corral), but 50% of the items were some sort of bean! I had never seen so many different types of beans on one buffet in my life. Don’t get me wrong, being a true southern girl, I really like beans, but this was way over the top. To make matters worse, the other half of the items on the menu were fried.(i have lots of stomach issues… so this was not helping.) They did have a small salad bar, but they were again lacking in the«variety department.» Anyway, we will not be returning for the lunch buffet for quite some time. I’m hoping that their buffet features much more variety now. I would have given them 4 stars if the lunch buffet wasn’t so terrible on our visit. The breakfast buffet is worth a try!
