This roofer was the original roofing contractor to install our tile roof on our newly constructed home. He took a little longer to do the job and was not too communicative about the job back then. This is not too uncommon for this type of business, and he was working under our general contractor at the time. The contractor was the real customer in this case. Eighteen years later, we developed a leak. Other roofers saw our roof underlayment. They said it was substandard for tile roofs and naturally would be expected to leak over time. I don’t know if this was the roofer’s fault, or if the building code changed. We did not initially call him for a repair estimate, based on past practices. Another roofer suggested we call him as the cheapest and most proficient with tile roofs. We reluctantly called him. He gave a very competitive estimate. We still questioned using him since he tended to run on his schedule, and typically would not call you… you call him. We called him about taking the job. We hoped things would be different as the real customer this time. We signed the written estimate/agreement as our contract. To his credit, he called us back to let us know when he might start. From that point on, we had to call him. He would not call us. Seven months and many excuses later, he was to do some final measurements and start shortly thereafter. He never visited and never called. We stopped calling him. As expected from past occasions, he did not bother to call us after that and we never heard from him again. Personal Recommendation: Do not call or use this contractor based on questionable workmanship and very poor customer service.
